This game is maddingly challenging.......... and after I beat that first boss, I keep on wanting to play.

I think I lost my mind.

Welcome to Demon's Dark Bloodborne!

I finally got to help someone out! That blasted bell DOES work!

Some crazy crap is happening now, though. I got killed by a random enemy and...

...yeah. Things... things happened. Not good things, either.

I beat that thing! OMG!

I watched it die. I dropped my PS4 controller, my palms were sweating buckets.

I painstakingly horded 12 vials. Found out its SO much easier to run through most of the level.

I came. I saw. I conquored!

Good Job, now go slaughter Father G, be sure to get the tiny music box to make it easier. That's what I'll be doing later tonight.

What/where is the tiny music box? Now that I have some gates open, I keep picking throughout the city, killing what I can, running back to hunter's dream and buying more vials

I can get Father G down to about half life.........any tips? If I can just dodge his stupid attacks, he's almost easy....but I keep getting nailed.....

How does the bell work? I have 5 insights left. I was hoping another hunter could help me kill this guy

Tiny music box is gotten from a Yharnam girl, her window is on the other side of the gate near the Fountain. You have to accept her request of finding her mother, the tiny music box essentially stops Father G long enough for you to charge a backstab and get a free visceral attack.

I think using the oil urn and Molotov should bring him down alot.

I have no idea about online, since I don't have PSN yet.

It's a window with a red lamp by it, you'll have to get right up to the window

Eh, no need to rush - there's plenty of hidden spaces and things to find before facing Daddy Gasbucks. :)

When he's using Short-Range: Wait for him to throw a couple swings towards you, then counter attack him 2 times and dodge before he tries shooting.

When he's using Long-Range: Bring out the guns if you can. :) I saved all my bullets and tried to stagger him, then bring out the damage dealer.

The Beginner's Guide to Bloodborne

Chalice Dungeons have been surprisingly fun, there are plenty of unique monsters and bosses to keep things interesting. One of them even did the Clap gesture when I died, couldn't help but laugh at that.

For those who've already beaten VA and can't find where to go now, here's some help:

I'd love to help, but I think I'm too high a level. If you're under level 18, I can't.

My brother and I spent about five minutes with passwords set trying to find each other, and it does work. I then tried to help a random and spent around the same amount of time waiting.

All you have to do is ring the bell, preferably near the fog door. Set your server to worldwide and don't set a password. (That may be the default anyway, it's under 'Network' in the settings menu.) Be prepared to wait for several minutes as it searches for an answering chime. You might want to read a book or something.

Ahhhh thanks. I'll have to look at my network settings.

So park outside the fog door that leads to Father G. Wait. and wait.......and wait.

Sorry about this being late but here's a pic of the girl's window

Spoiler

Don't know if this'll help but you have to get here from the sewage area, one long ladder up which leads to one of the big guys next to a ladder which leads up to her.

I was able to use the music box twice, once on his human form and a second time on his beast form. Took me three tries since I thought I'd be good enough to face him in the graveyard, ended up doing much better running up the stairs, running away and then looping back up the stairs.

The Witch of Hemwick boss fight lol.

I'm actually really glad I went and explored the Frontier after losing to Vicar Amelia, because when it came time for a rematch I was a bit more seasoned, confident, and my Vitality and Endurance stats were more than adequate enough to dispose of her. And those are the two stats that I've found to be the most important so far. Fortifying my Saw Cleaver has trumped dumping blood echoes into Strength or Skill. Bloodtinge seems, um, pretty useless? (granted I know little to nothing of it's benefits; so far parrying are the only means of firearms to me). Arcane at least seems like it'll be useful late game, I hear.

What's everyone else using, weapon-wise? and upgrading, stat-wise? Has anyone here beaten the game yet?

Saw Cleaver +4, can't seem to find any more of those twin blood stones or whatever they are, I'm probably not far enough for them to become a common drop

Tonitrus +3 because yay lightning

Flamesprayer +3 because I wish I was a pyromancer still

I also have Ludwig's Holy Blade +3, yet it's just... not my saw cleaver. I'm used to it, and have trouble adapting to anything else.

...and I quickly dumped my blunderbuss for a basic pistol. My Bloodtinge isn't high enough for anything better than the basic one, but I only use it for stuns, and for that it's good enough.

I've mostly been upgrading strength and arcane. Arcane affects discovery, which raises your chances of getting item drops. (I do love my drops.) It's also one of the scaling stats with pretty much all of my weapons. The only stat I don't think I've touched is Bloodtinge, it's been 5 since the beginning.

I beat my first chalice dungeon (at least i think I did, there was no "dungeon cleared" type of message, just a dead end after

Spoiler
I got another chalice from it, but I'd already gotten one on the level before, so it didn't really feel like a "final" prize.

I also beat

Spoiler
. That's where I left off, I had so many places to go that I haven't fully explored and felt like i had to just take a break for a bit. I don't think I'm ready for
Spoiler
as I died almost instantly without being able to get my bearings. I haven't been back since.

By the way, there have been reports of a game-breaking bug in a zone called the Forbidden Woods, which I haven't been to yet. If you invade or summon there, a necessary item will not spawn, blocking your progress. There's supposedly a fix in the works and will be ready for this coming week.

Okay.  So just beat the game, every boss and optional boss except for

Spoiler
cause that was just annoying, I'll come back to it on NG+, otherwise I got the "secret" ending, if you want to call it that.  Game was amazing.  I would give it a 9/10.  My main issues are framerates and waiting for co-op to handle itself properly.  Sometimes it takes forever to find your friends in the game and that isn't fun.

I did a Skill/Arcane build for my first playthrough, with Blades of Mercy and the Scythe and was really dope.

Love the game overall, would recommend for everyone who has a PS4.

Just lost 80,000 blood echoes after wandering around the Forbidden Woods for 2 hours.

10/10 would wander around again.

I use the saw and the blunderbuss... perhaps I should have chosen the pistol?

How do you get a chalice mission? I assume ring the bell?

If I remember correctly, you gain your first chalice from one of the bosses.  Otherwise, you go to the graves on the left side and start it from there.  You need ritual blood and all that jazz.

Then for me it would probably be double that amount. If I could even get to the end of the game.

Also beat the game this sunday morning, I was impressed. The story is made more compelling for the player compared to the previous games.

Now to try finding everything in the bloody game, that's gonna take a while...

I hope I'm nowhere near the end, because I don't want it to end.

I'm taking my time, soaking it all in. I've come to the realization that my hat probably isn't going to be much more wacky than a ragged hood, and if that's my biggest disappointment with this game, I'm fine with that.

Frenzy can go to hell, though.
