This thread is specifically to speculate and discuss Leliana's potential fates hinted at in the trailer.

It looks like she is clearly bound against her will at the hands an angry villain (lady villain?). The voice saying: "You will break!" sounds female to me. So we can assume Leliana will get captured by the bad guys at some point.

The way the video ended reminded me a great deal of the launch trailer for KotOR ended, with Bastila saying "I'll never fall to the Dark Side!" and then being tortured.

Malak: "You are strong child, but I will break you."

Leliana: "I... will... die first!"

What do we think? Is the villain trying to get information out of her or change her allegiance or something else? Will we have the option to rescue Leliana? Will she eventually break? Is the unseen force holding her the main villain or part of some smaller faction? Most importantly, is Leliana enjoying it?

I just Googled "Leliana's bondage" by accident when trying to copy the phrase...

The results were as expected.

TBH I'm disappointed with the content of this topic with a title like that.

Best topic title ever.

It looks like Leliana's being held by some Venatori scrubs, and we do know Leliana is working as a Hand of the Divine.

So probably Leliana stuck her nose somewhere that she shouldn't have.

Again.

Been over ten years. Leliana sure hates the Warden love-interest, don't she?

I'm guessing that is probably how Leliana ends up with the Inquisition. Her recruitment probably begins with a rescue.

Damsel in distress, eh? Here I thought she'd become a badass in her own right by now.

Perhaps it is the Hero Of Fereldan holding the knife to her throat for this very reason?  Tired of being ignored, wrath of a woman scorned, etc.

It's very mythologically symbolic if you've ever read "Medea".

Oh, different bondage... nevermind.

Probably Qunari agents. Since she is after all, an agent of the Chantry.

Edit: She's most likely not enjoying the bondage. I think. ;)

Didn't she already die?

Also the Venatori capture her, that's obvious.

The Maker resurrected her. She's the second coming of Andraste.

Sorry I lost it at "And is Leilianna enjoying it?"

Somehow I doubt it, though you never know with her, after all she might be flashing back to the days of rough housing with her bard mistress. :P

Even if she was Andraste (I doubt it), I don't really think it's Mary Sue-ish. Didn't Andraste get strung up and lit on fire?

For all the talk of subverting tropes, Dragon Age relies on them a fair bit.

I.E. "I'm not having any Scottish dwarves in my universe." Yeah... the DA dwarves aren't Tolkein's dwarves their Gaider's dwarves. They just happen to look, act, fight, and base their culture on the Lord Of The Rings dwarves. But they have American accents.

EDIT: LOL idiot OP derails own thread.

I think the Americanisms actually do make them a little different. They remind me of 19th century Americans specifically. Industrial age/Cutthroat capitalist types.

That's a shame. I'm a big fan of Cro-Magnon Scottish dwarves.
