To answer the OP instead of re-running the same old arguments over Leliana from DAII...

 

Here are three possibilities that I can envisage:

 

1. As has been mentioned in the tread, this is our introduction to her in the game, and after "rescuing" her (maybe by accident after taking the castle in which she's being held) she joins our organisation. This would seem the most likely to me.

 

2. She is captured while on some plot-critical spying mission for us.

 

3. She's somehow abducted from our castle while we are away on some other mission. (a bit like the crew of the Normandy in ME2...)

Am I the only person that thinks Bioware would have a lot more to do with including minorities (trans, gay, women, etc.) if it wasn't for -other- sources? *glances at EA*

 

They've obviously expressed a great interest in being more inclusive and having more characters and options as such, and it just doesn't seem like a coincidence to me that we have things like deleted Kaidan/MShep, FemShep/Tali or Miri or Jack romances in ME1 and ME2.

I think it's more that Bioware has constantly trodden on whatever happy ever after they were imagining.

Perhaps it is the Hero Of Fereldan holding the knife to her throat for this very reason?  Tired of being ignored, wrath of a woman scorned, etc.

 

It's very mythologically symbolic if you've ever read "Medea".

How long has it been since the Warden vanished?

If it's been more than a year...

 

If the Warden went through the mirror with Morrigan he did so in 9:32 Dragon. Morrigan's write up on the Inquisition website says she's been in Celene's court for three years (assuming DAI happens in 9:40, she reappeared in 9:37). That time frame matches up with what King Alistair says about the Warden being back in Denerim during the last parts of DA2.

 

Of course it's possible the Warden disappeared between 9:37 and 9:40, just like Hawke did.

But I doubt Gaider was talking about the Leliana situation we are discussing in this thread. To me, it clearly refers to a romance plot that didnt work in the way the author intended. Bondage jokes apart (did Leliana tell something about bondage in Origins? I missed that) Lelina is not enjoying the trailer situation.

The fact that Leliana's Bondage is a "hot topic" scares me.

Anyway, I have a feeling we'll come across Leliana about to be killed early in the game. Remember Seneschal Varel in Awakening, where he's literally about to be kicked off of the roof? Something like that.

For once I don't think its really EA.  Probably just a combination of many different factors.

Seems like a woman threatening a woman to me. Female Warden could romance Leliana as well. Then Leliana scorned her by ignoring her from DA2 to now so she came back with a vengeance.
