MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

Gotta say, just listening to that cello cover of the 'main theme' (I presume, anyway) they played at E3, and it's already everything the past DA soundtracks were lacking, IMO. It actually appears to have a rather 'hummable,' uplifting main tune now.

Usually unsure about composer changes, but this one seems to be for the better.

EDIT: Found someone who made a cut version of it, without background noise, if anyone is interested.

The music is great .

But if I remember correctly the writers were working on some lyrics , and I think Cullen VA said he had to sing?

I hope we're going to hear part of the chant of light.

The music is one of the main reason I got the Deluxe Edition.

I've never been a huge fan of DA music before , I really like some songs from ME , and well Skyrim music.

It can really do wonder to enhance a game , looking forward to those epic scene with that music.

I'm afraid I won't get anywhere in the game if a particularly good piece of music starts. I've had it happen where I just have my character stand there in some games so the music loops. :)

I can like him and Inon Zur both. I don't think DA themes were lacking at all before.

I did enjoy the tracks with Aubrey Ashburne's vocals. I hope she comes back in some capacity.

Those are my favorites too, but I like many of the instrumentals and atmospheric stuff as well. I know he himself said he didn't like his DA2 work as much as DAO, but there are some gems there too (like Fenris' theme, Mage Pride).

Elder Scrolls gets me like that a lot, Jeremy Soule is a genius. A great soundtrack can make you smell the air of a games world, sometimes I've to catch myself from standing around in a trance too long just taking it all.

Agreed. I have nothing against Inon Zur, I think he was great for F:NV, but I've never been a fan of his DA stuff. They definitely made the right choice this time.

I guess I've been playing Dragon Age too long to criticize the soundtrack. I can't imagine it any other way than with Zur's music. I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to want about it.

edit: I'm talking about the previous games btw. Not that I want Zur back. I'm fine with changes.

The cello made me misty eyed. I loved Inon Zur's music but I am definitely welcoming Trevor Morris. So glad I decided to preorder the Deluxe Edition with the digital soundtrack. <3<3<3

I was stoked when I first heard the announcement. I liked the work he did on The Tudors, the Borgias, and Pillars of the Earth. Good to hear that his DA tracks of are similar quality.

Some of his non-DA stuff for those that might be interested:

I like the work in those, but I hate the Tudors and Borgias. But especially the Borgias. Because it was good. And then ended in Firefly fashion.

I don't really have any particular problem with Zur, it's just I didn't find his work as memorable as a game of DA:O's caliber deserved, like, say, Jeremy Soule does with Elder Scrolls as mentioned above.

Sounds like Morris could potentially bring DA soundtrack up to that level.

Was he behind Pillars of the Earth? Awesome. This theme really gets me going to be honest. I always felt that DA2 lacked abit over the DA:O Main theme, but this is strong.

A moment?  I have been appreciating his music for the last...six months?  And more and more with more trailers coming out, trying to hunt down other pieces of his music and just glom onto it.  His music sounds like a rather interesting cross between John Williams with some Bear McCreary to it, which are my two other favorite composers so I am just adoring what I have heard so far and what he has done to the Dragon Age theme.  He rocks.

I cannot stop listing to this, It's so damn awesome. I just want this theme playing the entire game, don't really care what the situation is.

And a big mish-mash of tracks made by him that could actually fit DA pretty well, for a taster:

To be honest, Soule never even stood out to me until Skyrim (maybe because I didn't care for the tech/instrumentation he had in Morrowind and such. Too oldschool. Skyrim had access to full blown symponies and choirs. Very well funded). I know the general themes are the same, but it didn't shine to me until the production ramped up.

As for Zur.. well.. what I mean is, I can't imagine the war scene at Ostagar sounding any better. Things like that. I don't see how it can be improved on.

I've always greatly enjoyed DA's soundtracks in general, but this one is looking to take its position of my favorite so far. I'm almost as excited to snag the album as I am to finally get the game itself.

I'll give you that one. He could bring forth the goose pimples when he wanted.

I also remember Zur in things like Icewind Dale rather fondly, so the talent is there.
