I know a lot of people didn't want Hawke or the Warden showing up again but I remember that it has been stated, if not confirmed(not sure), that they would reappear in this game.
Personally I would love to play them again as a temporary party member or as PC for one quest. To close the book on their personal stories and see how the last 10 years(Warden) or 3 years (Hawke) have treated them.

I hope to either see their corpses, fight their corpses or for them not to show up at all.
(I would also accept them being turned into golems or red lyrium monsters.)

I would rather not see them. I like Bioware but I can't see them doing it in a way that I would be happy with.

well Hawke can make some kind of cameo, because this character is voiced. also what's happened to him is unknown.
Warden on the other hand is rather different case. First of all he is not voiced and mine was voiced of Robin Sachs. Another thing there are too many different outcomes of what could happen with the Warden, from being a Warden Commander to leaving through mirror with Morrigan.

Damn straight. I want to know what happened to my elven arcane warrior killing machine.
If people don't want to see the Warden they can like-... not do the quest in which he appears?

I doubd warden will show up, because there are too many warden versions, dwarf / elf / male / female / dalish / princess / dead warden. You can't just use canon warden, it would be not propper for role play game. The only one thing that in my mind how can you see Warden, is somewhere in coffin in deeproads tunnel.
It is easier to bring Hawke to game. There are only two Hawkes male / female, and if I remember properly, Hawke can't die in DA2. But Bioware will need to hide Hawke face. They didsuch things before in KOTR for example.

I hope they are brought back simply because I find the "..and then they disappeared" epilogue incredibly dissatisfying. I'd rather there was some point to that disappearance beyond finding a bad excuse for not bringing the characters back in future games.
To be clear I would have been totally fine with either protagonist not returning, and would have even preferred it, had it not been for the fact that both of them disappear. Hawke is unimportant after resolving some of Kirkwall's problems and causing others, and my Warden should be occupied with either being Commander of the Grey in Ferelden and/or Ferelden's Chancellor.
So I'm hoping that there was a good reason to have the two protagonists disappear, that they'll return from their vanishing acts in DA:I, and that they'll go back to doing whatever they would have otherwise been doing had it not been for that disappearance.
Oh, and if the Warden and Hawke remain missing while the Inquisitor disappears at the end of DA:I I think this will be my reaction:

As for the different fates of the Warden.. that would be a way BioWare finally making your decisions matter more than cameos or dialogue variations.. though I'm a bit skepctial about that.
Plus, it sounds kinda weird not to involve the person who ended the Fifth Blight in record time and the guy.. or gal.. who was at the start of it all in some way. Specially if the former was a mage.

Hopefully they remain in the recycling bin.

I just want to see the Warden take on thousands of Darkspawn.

I have a weird hope to find out that my Warden died over in the Eluvian, but Morrigan bound his soul to his armor to save him best she could, and now, to the rest of the world, he's a silent knight who never removes his armor that follows her around and does her bidding. It would totally explain why he doesn't talk and why he doesn't have a face. If she were an antagonist, he'd be one as well.
Granted, this is pretty morbid, and unlikely to be canon since there are many different outcomes, but I like it.

And what happens if you can't skip that quest genius?

Guess I'm in the minority of not having a problem with my Warden and Hawke returning lol
I'll join you in that minority. It doesn't bother me either.

All I hope is the option to customize them again

Personally I hope they include them, and that they standardize their appearance and personality. Sure, we would have to listen to a lot of whiners about "waaaah this isn't MY character waaaah", but at least we could include these powerful characters in future stories then.
EDIT: of course the option to get to recustomize them in the new engine, would be nice too. THough that may be asking too much.

i wouldnt mind seeing them, but there is a sense of mystery and romance in the disappearing with the wind (or into the sunset) endings never to be seen again

My Warden will appear as random moans and thumping from Leliana's bedroom.
My Hawke will be a shadowy figure encountered in major cities, obsessively rummaging through crates and trash cans for torn pants.
Inquisitor: Champion? What..What are you doing here?
Varric: Andraste's fiery underpants, Hawke. Still with the moth-eaten scarves?
Hawke: Do you know how much money I made off of these?

I'm hoping for no more than rumors and speculation on the part of the people of Thedas - 'the Hero of Ferelden/the Champion of Kirkwall haven't shown up, they must have been caught in the explosion!' 'No, I heard they're out fighting the qunari in Seheron!' 'They're wandering the Deep Roads somewhere, reclaiming lost thaigs!' 'Flemeth's taken them to some other realm of existence!' 'They've gone to the mysterious Jade Empire!' (What, I can dream of a Jade Empire sequel...)
But I really don't want to see them again, not have their fates addressed directly. It's just impossible to present them in a way that makes everyone happy, because presenting a former PC as a NPC is asking for trouble, because at that moment, the character stops being who we want them to be.

Well.. unless they present them as PCs again. It would be interesting to close the book ourselves instead of that vanishing act that we currently have.Or have them as a temporary companion we get tp roleplay alongside the Inquisitor. That would be something to see... or not.

Unless they allow you to change the way they look away from default, no thanks.
