i like the idea of restrictions. And I liked DG comment.
I'd rather they be based on personality, but any restriction is better than a Fable II type game where you can romance any character you meet whether they are male or female, (and I happen to enjoy the game, just not their idea of romances).
i'd much rather have Bioware's more complex characters with a story of their own and preferences of their own. I hadn't planed on playing a Qunari or a Dwarf, they just don't interest me, but if there is a character that can only be romanced by a Qunari or a Dwarf and it's an interesting character I'll play one. I'm also hoping you don't have to romance characters to get to know them. A friendship path would be great.
I don't care for playing a guy, got tired of that after over 30 years of no other options, which is why even when i get mad at them I'll continue buying their games, (especially if DG is involved), but I did play a guy in ME and in DA:O and they were interesting.
As long as they have some choices, and the 1/2/1 or sets of 1 m&f straight; 1/m&f samesex; 1 m&f bi or player sexual - that is a good option. Even if they had all of the LI available to anyone, there would be people complaining that the one they want isn't an option. It a no win situation.
After I play the game I will start my complaints for how the characters are portrayed, did Varric have a personality adjustment, or what i have to do to survive (referring to the DR which made me watch My LI have sex with someone else
)
I don't know most about these characters yet and won't until I play the game more than once. I may find out Vivienne, who I think looks a bit snooty, has a great sense of humor beneath that mask they wear in Orlais. I may end up not liking any of my choices, but I'm very glad we have some choices with, hopefully, good stories instead of too many choices without content.
