I think Dorian is probably gay. I get a Freddie Mercury vibe from his totally baller mustache and jawline for days. It would be too bad if Blackwall wasn't romancable. I find him far more interesting  than Solas.

First Maevaris, and now (maybe?) Dorian?  Ah, Tevinter, the land of tolerance, justice, and freedom for all.

Yeah, if it weren't for that troubling slavery and oppression thing, right?  Dorian and Maevaris are both pretty damned cool though.

I first read this as you calling me a crazy cat lady for remembering Juhani!

In his only previous appearance, Anders only expressed interest in women, not men.

And yet...

The lesson of the story: Just because it's not said explicitly doesn't mean it isn't there.

I know quite a few bisexuals who are in a relationship and this drives them NUTS. "I like men and women. I am currently dating a woman. Therefore, everyone assumes I only like women". Nonsense.

I'm out of likes as well, but I really enjoyed this post.

I get that too, only I'm married to a man, therefore "I must be straight."  The amount of sex one has doesn't and shouldn't correlate to their sexual preference.  I didn't stop being bi when I became monogamous.

Right? That drives me insane. Monogamous does not mean someone is purely homosexual or heterosexual.

Makes me wonder what kind of relationships we'll see outside of the party.

A happy gay or lesbian couple would be my first start.  We've seen Wade and Herren and to be honest, they seemed more like an old married couple that stuck together long after the love has faded, and now stick together because of mutual past experiences.  The other implied gay couple (the viscount's Son and the qunari) obviously didn't have a happy ending.  I haven't finished TME, but I heard that the relationship in there doesn't end on good note.

So yeah, show us some lesbian and gay couples as NPCs that are at least that are happy in love with each other.  Having the freedom of playing a non-hetero character and having non-hetero love interests are really great.  I'm still amazed at that.  However, I think that healthy non-hetero NPC couples are needed for representation as well.  It not only gives more life to Thedas, but having a gay couple that someone in their late teens and 20s can point out (outside of the player) and go, "Hey, these folks really love each other," could really be a good role model.

Agreed. I'd like to see more in the background as well. Just NPCs talking and such.

I liked Herren and Wade, they reminded me of my parents.

Herren and Wade were great.

You'd be surprised how many players were shocked when DG confirmed that they were gay though.  I didn't think they were bad people (and pretty memorable given their fairly limited game time in Origins and Awakening,) I just never got the "couple in love" vibe from them.  <shrug>

Either way, it was a decent start and something that I think a lot of us hope to see more of in the future.  I had this idea awhile back for one of the simpler ways that something like this could be done.

In most RPGs, at some point, there is usually a couple in distress because their child has gone missing.  I'm not saying that is going to be in Inquisition, but it's common enough.  Instead of getting the expected hetero-couple, why not two gay men instead?  A parent in distress isn't going to change just because their prefer the same sex.

Having a set of gay parents doing all the things that...well that straight couples do in that situation would be a very welcome change.   You know, holding each other, reassuring each other.  Like all worried parents usually do, whether straight or not.  It isn't something that is shown much in media, and almost never in a video game.

However, the gay couple having a kid might throw a wrench in the whole "orphanage burning" plan. I mean, what kind of world actually allows children who lost their parents or were put up for adoption to get a new set of loving parents?! That's ridiculous.

Be careful not to step in the oozing sarcasm.

This makes me think of one of the Fable games where you are going through a silly side quest where a farmer has asked you to play match maker for his son.  He goes on and on about how the son needs to find the right girl and blah, blah, blah.  When you finally get to the son, you find out that he's gay and can then proceed to set him up with a guy!  It was such a cool, refreshing twist on the typical RPG side quest and I loved every second of it!  More of stuff like this please!

That Fable quest WAS funny and cool(the dad accepted his son's sexuality without question if I recall correctly).

I don't know if Bioware will ever do something like that though;the tone would have to change to match the franchise.

I don't see Dragon Age ever going the way of Fable when it comes to romances. And thats good. Bioware does it its own way.

I see, lol. Well, I don't know what else could be up. You know what I'd like to see? Arguments. Couple arguments. Not end all beat all, end of relationship,  but just the real thing. Relationships aren't all lovey dovey and gifts.

Be glad Bioware dropped gift giving as a thing that had the power to make or break relationships on the fly.
