Be glad Bioware dropped gift giving as a thing that had the power to make or break relationships on the fly.
I am not saying she mines for precious metals, but she's not being courted by a man of questionable income.

I see, lol. Well, I don't know what else could be up. You know what I'd like to see? Arguments. Couple arguments. Not end all beat all, end of relationship, but just the real thing. Relationships aren't all lovey dovey and gifts.
As long as the arguments don't involve someone blowing **** up.

I still like gifts, but yeah they're a little silly when they make up so much of the relationship points.

Were- were you not here for the Orphanage discussion? ![]()
But yeah, just like, I don't know. If like, you don't take Sera to something important to the elven rebellion or something.
In his only previous appearance, Anders only expressed interest in women, not men.
And yet...
The lesson of the story: Just because it's not said explicitly doesn't mean it isn't there.
I know quite a few bisexuals who are in a relationship and this drives them NUTS. "I like men and women. I am currently dating a woman. Therefore, everyone assumes I only like women". Nonsense.
Anders was a victim of herosexuality in DA2. Cohesive writing was not even a consideration. You only have to look at how shocked people were to see this came out of left field.
Cassandra has a one sided history, while its not conclusive it points to a pattern. We have zero, nothing nada to indicate the same towards women. Hopefull since the whole herosexual thing has been swept away, she won't get placed as something just to make numbers.
Because gay male companions are a figment of our imaginations? C'mon.
I read that Sera is a female LI only. Couple with gender inequality in companion I get the feeling this game is made for female gamers only.
So... you think all females want to romance Sera, or .... what?

"Gender inequality in companion"? One NPC has been confirmed to be lesbian. One. There will more than likely be a proportional amount of male and female love interests available. There is no evidence I see to support that Bioware makes games to exclude any group; not catering to males, females, or straight/ LGBT more or less is the important concept here. If you want to romance Sera, it is possible that you can roll a female character; same as a female player that might want to romance a gay character. There will be straight options, and more than likely bisexual options. Just because the choices in Bioware's games are more closely reflecting real world predisposition doesn't mean they're making a game for "female gamers only." If you draw the line because a female gamer gets a single option you don't, I would kindly point to 10 times as many where that is true of the male player.
The authors included a character who is a lesbian. This is a single part of her personality. "She" has hopes, dreams, aspirations, hang-ups, quirks, skills, and vulnerabilities the same as you or me. To assume that we can coerce writers into devaluing that creative choice is the same as assuming we could go into the Louvre and paint their paintings the way we want them. After all, they were created for the audience.

While Anders' jump from hetero sexual to bisexual was unexpected, sexuality in some people can change- it can be fluid. In the case of a traumatic event or, say incorporating an entire individual into your psyche, you might have some changes in your life. That was story centric. Cassandra kissing a man on a cheek but maybe also thinking ladies are pretty, too, is certainly not out of the question. I've kissed women before- does that mean I inherently am incapable of kissing a dude?
^^ Not to mention the most pissed off group of people at the fact that there are only 3 female companions were... WOMEN! So, not quite sure how having only 3 female companions is suddenly INCLUSIVE TO WOMEN AND ALIENATING TO MEN.

Yep, can't help themselves. The patchwork outfit, the bow. . . the ladies want it. I got dem women a Sera- women love Sera.
It's like the dudebros are tripping over their own laces, grasping at straws, complaining about women AT ANY COST.
It must be a miserable life.

My biggest thing is, if you complain this much when an IMAGINARY person you like is a lesbian, what would you do if a real world love interest is of a conflicting orientation/gender mix?

How the flip was he "a victim of herosexuality"? In Awakening, he has a line about how "all I want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools," and his opening quest in DA2 has him distraught over losing a male lover. Interest in both sexes was established and didn't come out of the blue, despite how some people didn't catch on to the latter instance.

I merely assumed his tastes may have changed- Knowing either everyone in the place you'd been living for (presumably) a few months or a year is dead, or that you're part of a group responsible for one of Ferelden's most populated areas post Blight being completely razed, in conjunction with potentially losing comrades, means that you *might* come at life in a new way. Add in magical multidimensional emotion/virtue ghost, and things become even more muddled.
Right... 9 companions, 3 females, 1 of them is lesbian. It would be foolish to make all characters romanceable. So only 1 left for male gamers to romance. Lmao @ men getting owned.
I met someone once before, and he wasn't bisexual then, so now he can never be.

You're assuming all 6 males are romanceable, and that our "dating pool" is limited to our companions. Maybe- now bear with me here- MAYBE many women would find it preferable for their character to not be in a sausage fest. Is that possible? Is it also likely that a bisexual or lesbian woman might feel that 3 women aren't enough for them, either?
You're using faulty logic and baseless claims to say you're being wronged. Not getting something you want or think you deserve doesn't mean you deserve it, doesn't mean it's being taken from you, and doesn't mean you're entitled to it. That sense of entitlement can be very, VERY dangerous if left unchecked. Men aren't getting "owned." Many men are choosing to be offended about something not even remotely similar to what they've experienced for decades of gaming.\
Good day.

I guess they're assuming it means we have more choice when it comes to banging, I'm not gonna say anything else here, because this arguement pisses me off far too much...I'll just laugh instead

Oh you poor baby.
Hey how about this scenario:
3 romanceable women, 3 romanceable men. 1 lesbian woman (Sera), one gay man (unknown at this point).
That sounds extremely plausible to me. You're just sitting there assuming that you are going to be left severely disadvantaged in the romance department when we know NEXT TO NOTHING about the romances at this point.

Since most games are really made to appeal to straight men above all else, I don't see why this is necessarily a bad thing.

That would be a nice change. I'm certain, though, that DA: I is made to appeal to men and women equally. I appreciate that BioWare keeps us female gamers in mind.

Agreed. It's just sad that some people in the world perceive having a large amount of females (as well as lesbians) in a cast being unfair... wtf.
