I think they count though. They didn't say out of any Dragon Age game, they said out of any Bioware game.

Nah, man, everyone in Thedas descends from the Normandy survivors. That's why the Reapers and the Old Gods act similarly.

I'm just going to operate under the assumption that Mr Laidlaw meant to say "any previous Dragon Age game", which maxed out at 5. So, 6 or more. That seems more reasonable, and doesn't set my expectations up to high.

 

(Although if not, and 16+ really is the number, that means there might be a dwarf female option in the mix somewhere... )

I think they count though. They didn't say out of any Dragon Age game, they said out of any Bioware game.

It was said during an interview, not in a controlled setting. People can make mistakes. Better to err on the side of caution, methinks. It still pretty much confirms 6 romances.

We don't need to think it means 12 just because ME3 had 11. That's just insane. Or heck, SWTOR has like ~3 per class, with 8 classes. That means at least 25 romances or so. Is it likely they literally meant more than 25 romances ("more than any BioWare game")? Definitely not, in my opinion.

I mean sure, it could happen. But let's not start expecting that, shall we?

Wouldn't that mean those romances would also count for the Mass Effect franchise, in turn leading to an even higher numbers or romances across all BioWare games DAI would have to surpass to let Laidlaw's statement hold true, which in turn would mean since ME is now tied to DAI that every new romance/LI would also count towards the to-be-surpassed count by default, ending in an infinite loop of requiring more and more romances?

also, if they did it for ME why couldn't they do it for DA?

 

though it's true it's a big change for DA... in fact I'd settled for 5 LI, and I thought 6 was expecting too much  :lol: I guess that's the good thing about being psimistic, things are usually better than expected  :)
