In this brief demo, today, I had the opportunity to hear the things I have always wanted in Dragon Age: the ability to jump for one. I asked for this in Dragon Age II. So, it was such a wonderful surprise for me to hear that this feature will be in Dragon Age: Inquisition. To be able to jump over obstacles adds that feel that the world my protagonist is in is breathing and alive! It becomes more immersive. :)

I also learned that climbing will also be a part of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Imagine, actually climbing up and down? Simply awesome! What really got me extra excited is hearing how alive our companions will make the game for our protagonist(s) as far as reaction is concerned. My protagonist would be able to interact in a real time conversation that is spontaneous. For example: to say “I’m going over there.” Our companion would be able to react to that by replying: “Bye”. These are simple gestures, but to me that says so much. It adds that immersive feel, that closeness in the companions who will be part of our daily lives as we sojourn along this immense world of Thedas, the world Dragon Age: Inquisition is situated in. This open world! Bioware, you’ve outdone yourself here. The world is simply dead drop gorgeous with floras, wildlife, the sound of nature, birds! Life!

I asked the Devs for plenty in Dragon Age II and in the DLC’s. The DLC’s did add some elements of life to the world, but this?! This game: Dragon Age: Inquisition, based on what I have seen thus far, is beyond any game I have played thus far. I am a fan of The Elder Scrolls for their open world and freedom to play as you want. I have yearned for this in Dragon Age. Here it is and then some! I’m simply overexcited, that I’m jumping up and down! I cannot wait for this game to come out. Bioware, I wish you to know that you are simply awesome! <3

The thing we will be able to do: Play our way, dress our companions in whatever gear we want? (I didn’t hear about swimming, but to be able to jump into a puddle or in a lake, will be enough for me, lol. I am simply so grateful that you have added the ability to jump in the game: Dragon Age: Inquisition, Bioware!) Bioware, I am your fan for life! You brought back the things that have made Dragon Age: Origins such an enjoyable game to play and then some!

I have commented elsewhere about the Female Qunari Inquisitor. Here is another big thanks for doing this demo with her today, Bioware! She is simply stoic, regal, quietly fierce and elegant. Her movements are not exaggerated. This is simply perfect for her. :)

I am looking forward to see more in the upcoming weeks and months, Bioware. I know I will continue to be dazzled and mesmerized with the contents of Dragon Age: Inquisition. TWO BIG THUMBS UP, Bioware! <3

combat which have zero synergy between a character and a mob.

What does this even mean?

The UI will def be different for us PC folks, DAO and DA2 had different UIs for em.

Can't wait to play this...I love the open world-ish thing they have. It's going to be fun just adventuring and preparing for that adventure and stuff like that.

Best part is I can make my own character! The devs are not forcing a bland, boring, mornic, witchy-person down my throat :D

Looks pretty damn good.  The only thing I am waiting for at this point is a demonstration of combat on harder difficulty settings (preferably with the PC UI).

I am very pleased with what I saw.  I especially like the weight behind the melee fights (as well as the continued sensational/hyper-reality).  The dragon looks awesome and it was nice to finally see a female kossith.

I liked the IGN video better, for whatever reason.

Iron Bull is fantastically huge and I absolutely love it. I hope Varric gives him crap about walking through doorways (or not).
:-)

Other takeaways.....

Focus....hmmmm. Tell me more, please?

Mysterious blue bars? Ditto.

I personally like the icons and UI look so far. Appears intent was to integrate it with WoT style. DA2 had the same faceless icons about during Varric's retelling to Cass, if memory serves.

Like pre-Skyrim, I marvel at the dragons and wonder how I'm going to ever defeat them.

Shards???? Do we have any lore-y thoughts on this beyond 'fancy lyrium' perhaps?

Neutral option on the dialogue wheel? Praise the maker.

Console controller compatible with PC, perhaps for the very first time in Bio-history? Oh maker, stop it!

Ah Neutral. If I die in battle, tell my LI I said "hello"

Thanks for this! It looks incredible! Really, exceeded my expectations. It might be weird but it looks to me like a mix of Dragon Age 1/2 and Witcher Series. Which is definatly extremely cool in my opinion.

Im just really hoping they took in player feedback for better scaling on difficulty. Casual should definatly be pretty much 'Story Mode', and the hard level should definatly be Old School Bioware/Dark Souls level. So everyone can enjoy the game, not just the old school vets.

Its pretty amazing how much it looks like they took inspiration from The Witcher to make a truly living world. I noticed even without the player and company, there are battles between factions happening, seen briefly in the background and the world itself looked so alive. Superb Job Bioware, very looking forward to this more then anything else this year.

And major thanks for the Female Quanari. I'm so taking one as my First character. Been looking forward to that ever since Sten in DA:O.

And the naughty response is... "I love you, but I've been sleeping with my scullery maid."

What does this even mean?

example is DAO.

Mobs and Character have the same speed and the same move set with a given weapon's type. Which means despite the speed of the combat, it looks alive.

Now in DA2 character is moving and attacking much faster than a mob, mob is using DAO pattern attack animation and this where BW did wrong. Reasons why attacks in DA2 are also crowd controls are simple. Because you can easily deliver 2-3 abilities or basic attacks in a mob until he even swing at you. You can see this issue clearly on some elite mobs, those guys who actually just standing on the ground and using some stuff like buffing or throwing some orbs at you. You attack them, and cc by strikes have no effect of them and this when this difference in speed become so obvious. So in DA2 there is no synergy in combat between a character and a mob, and this is why despite the fact that DA2 combat is fast paced, it's still boring and look stupid, and in the end it all comes down to pushing buttons by cooldown, because basic attack do not have a decent damage potential as they do in DAO.

So by many factors, DA2 combat is ugly, boring, stupid and not thought out mechanics. And if we will have the same mechanics in DAI - it's a failure right there.

Welcome to the world of real spoken human language, which is very different from written language or spoken language in books/TV shows. People use a lot of filler (or buffer) words while their brain tries to come up with a structured sentence.

No problem my good man

Please don't pose and point. You're too similar to Iron Will as it is.

Gee thanks. I appreciate your tone. Sarcasm really lifts my mood in the mornings.

Mike and Mark didn't use nearly as many "like's" in their speech, and I don't know about you but as an adult I've never been in the presence of anyone who talks like that guy.

Maybe it was just nerves.

I remember reading about having to find Fade shards a long time ago (around February/March I think). It's probably something that "feel" through the sky that needs to be secured because it's too dangerous to leave to crazy templars, mages, people.

obviously this is a console version.

Actually, Mark Darrah confirms in a later video that it's the PC version using a controller instead of mouse/keyboard (although either one is an option).
