Her make up / face paint does not look good at all to me. I expected her to be more silvery/greyish skin color like the Arishok. She seems like a hybrid between Sten and the new Qunari design. I think her face could be a bit more gaunt or defined to match the rigidness of the male qunari. IDK most of my complaints can be fixed with a decent character creator.

I did, plenty of them at my university, but I guess I never noticed it IRL, or maybe Vivianne's lips are just overinflated to the point of being really distracting
How does one not notice this? It's one of the major traits of Africans with white palm, broad noses, straight teeth and thicker eyelashes.

Well, I meant I do notice it, but not to the distracting levels like on Vivienne.
EDIT: Come to think of it, now that I started to do more research on it, maybe it was just some awful angle or something in latest videos, because she looks pretty normal African on screenshots

Jesus people getting all hot and bothered over an opinion. For the record I like the skimpy designs in Bioware's video games unapologetically. (I.E. Miranda, Samara, Jack, Isabella, Morrigan)
And I'm pretty sure a lot of females like them as well. (despite what so called feminists may think) I mean why else would they spend the exorbitant amount of time and money to make the costumes for cosplay.
It's fantasy, and the reason I play games is for escapism and to see fantastical things. If you want "realism" go watch a sitcom or something.
Lastly I stand by what I said, The Qunari looks ugly and mannish and I hope you can change her design drastically. Just my opinion, so people need to stop being so sensitive.

By which you mean: things exactly like human females so I would consider them attractive and feminine and pretty. And it's your opinion. Sounds... reasonable. Okay.

To be fair a lot of young men would love to be in a fantasy land full of good looking babes. At least I know I would.

I do hope there are options. While she might fit as a warrior type.... I tend to like my mage characters to be a bit on thin/slender, less muscular type. Never understood how all these brainy mage types in games somehow look like they workout with weights 8 hours a day.

Since it's a fantasy, you'd have no problem with all the male characters looking like this
Don't worry, I'm sure you will eventually be able to mod your imaginary girlfriend to look just like a porn star and go into battle completely naked.

Supposedly there's little else to do in your freetime if you're locked up in a tower for life. I'd go lifting weights and working out too, rather than do a scientific experiment on whether it's possible to die of boredom.
Not that I mean that my Femqunisitor (or any other Femquisitors) would be skinny Playboy bunnies. I do like them with a bit of substance, but I just can't for hell of it find the similarities of the presented Femqunisitor with those female Qunari we've been seeing all the time in concept arts/comics/etc. and that puts me off more than anything. I've simply grown accustomed to expecting large, lithe, amazonian beauties with grey'ish skin tones that it just doesn't click Qunari when I look at the presented figure in the opening post.

This is kinda of a funny thread at this point now,.
The race in question is meant to look a little inhuman from my understanding could be wrong, part of the reason they are feared has giants and what not.
I am sure there will be some adjustments to be made in the editor, but didn't they say they are using more defualts this time around for this race and limited customize options, probbly am wrong on that.
But who cares what the most dreaded race in this world looks like should always have some fearsome and inhuman ascepts to it imho.
But we will find out in time, no need to flame each other at this point.

That's a false equivalence, since ALL females characters don't wear skimpy clothes. And no, I wouldn't have a problem with male designs of that nature. I think it's pretty cool, and I know females/gays would definitely enjoy it.
Edit: Just caught your attack at the end, really nice.

They are feared because they've been at war with most of Thedas, not because they look particularily scary.
A couple decades ago during WW1 or WW2, if you'd ask an everyday american what a german would look like, I'm sure you'd get some funny answers too.

I lift 70 minutes / day 5 days a week and without praising myself, doing that for 5 years has made me extremely ripped and strong. (100 kilograms at 185cm) If you lift smart you don't have to spend countless of hours lifting weights. ![]()
So if I was a mage I could work out without having to skip any of my mage practice lessons. ![]()

I would just like to say thank you to BioWare for designing powerful female characters whose value to the game isn't measured solely by how overtly sexualized they are depicted. As a female gamer, it means a lot to me to see my gender represented respectfully and with integrity. Female characters with depth, intelligence, competence and meaningful involvement in a gripping story make me feel at home in the universes BioWare creates.
BioWare, you are moving gaming inclusivity forward in profound ways beyond just a fun gameplay experience. Thank you for including people like me on that journey.

Meh, she looks a little hard on the shelf. Doesn't really matter to me since I doubt I will ever play a qunari. She is pretty much what I would imagine they'd look like and I am glad most people seem to like her design.
That being said, this thread is silly. The very topic of the thread invites people in to discuss her appearance, but as soon as someone expresses their opinion on just that, the band of "right fighters" come knocking. Oh, BSN, no matter how long I am gone, you remain the same.
It isn't a horrible thing to think she is ugly, or mannish. It isn't a horrible thing to appreciate her because of those things either. As a society, we strive to move beyond thinking every man or woman has to adhere to a standard of beauty, however, it seems we have moved into a direction of it being taboo for someone to genuinely feel those standards are--in someone's opinion, beautiful.
Try understanding opinions are just that, opinions. Even if you don't value them or share them. Really, it is no different to say "I don't want to play a female who looks too masculine, I want her to have more feminine traits." than it is for those who say, "I am so glad she isn't some skinny waif. I like to play as someone who looks badass." Stereotypes are bad, until they aren't.

Anybody note the irony of complaining about a character whose features are completely malleable. I can make the Warden look like Beaker from the Muppets or give FemHawke a 2' chin, it's not representative. Before you complain about her looking too butch, we're talking about a 7 1/2' tall slab of muscle. She ain't gonna be dainty.

I would personally take the complaints that she looks like a man more seriously if we didn't already know that male qunari have two times her bulk.
People have the right to express whatever opinion they desire, but it seems very weird to me to say the female Qunari is ''mannish'' because she doesn't look like a bimbo or a cutesy waif. Women with that kind of bulk exist and are no less women. Mind you I'm just as annoyed when people say guys who aren't roided-up meatheads look like little girls.
And my impression was more that people are happy that it's possible to create a character that looks like the one in the demo. We already know we can make our character a supermodel because, hey, Bioware game. Some people just like women a bit rougher, and like seeing that it's possible to have a Qunari like that.

No I'm calling her "mannish" because she looks completely like a man, to me at least. Also I want to note the irony of calling females who dare show skin "bimbos"

And I meant a body type IE the Isabelas of this world. Not clothing worn.

@TheGlen
Well, by that logic, why discuss her looks at all? This topic is about discussing the default look, obviously so, since that is the screenshot available for reference. So, if someone joining this discussion has the opinion that the default femqun looks a little "butch", are they not allowed to say so?
Honestly, why not change the topic title to: Female Qunari Appearance-- only post if you agree that she is super badass awesome! Otherwise, your opinion is sexist and invalid. It's a little long, sure, but seems to fit the general idea.
Also, sorry for not replying properly with quotes. I haven't been on this site in a long time and for some reason it won't allow me to do that on this stupid device.
@Giantdeathrobot
How about you don't try defining what "mannish" means to some, and I won't try to define what "bimbo" means to you.

I think the problem is less that people dislike her look (which is perfectly fine, by the way! I'm not a fan of the majority of male dwarves in DA), and more because of how they say it. It's one thing to say "I'm not super into how sharp her features are," and a completely 'nother thing to say "I don't like her because she looks like a man."

I'm probably being really shallow but I hope with the CC, I can make a gorgeous qunari inquisitor. The one shown is...not that attractive to me and if I'm going to be playing her for 100+ hours I'd like to be able to make her as pretty as I see fit and still be able to have her be badass and decimate her enemies.
