(no, the qunari do not all have 'ink blot eyes' as an earlier poster said - they've been described as violet, red, silver, and yellow - in games we have seen they also have a steely sort of colour),

I find your rude misquotation and nitpicking behaviour uncalled for.

In-fact, I didn't say they all had such (it was personal preference for me to want to see that variation on a female). And if you had even bothered to ask, I would of even explained why I called them 'ink-blot eyes' (Dragon Age 2's shadowing & distance can make them appear darker, which in my perspective, had looked like light reflecting off ink. Though the 'blot' part was a mistake).

But I shall forever know now that they were a 'steely sort of colour'. Pssh, some people..

Selection towards attractiveness has very real, practical applications. Whom are you more likely to tell secrets? The horny ladyboy, or the huge ass scary devilman made of muscle? A f*ck-ugly sow of a woman, or a drop-dead georgous sex goddess?

There's a reason companies prefer sexy salesmen/women.

Yeah...I'd be telling my secrets to the big scary man or woman who looks like they can tear my arms off. Why would I spill secrets to someone because they're attractive, that's just retarded. What are they gonna do, bat their eyelashes at me? Also the Qunari we've met have been extremely simple and straightforward, if they want your city they take your city, they don't seduce you into voting for them or something.

Well, they're fat deposit on humans, but as we know, Dragon Age runs on magic. Why do human/elf pairings result in pureblooded humans? Magic.

Until BioWare gives us a reason to believe that qunari breasts are something other than fat deposits, I'm sticking with my adipose tissue theory. If you have evidence that qunari breasts are made of chocolate or magic or are bags of wriggling puppy dogs, I'd be glad to hear about it.

While I'm at it, David has said that elven genes are adaptive. That's not a fantasy explanation, that's a science fiction one.

Also how would you stop the sexy woman from passing her genes to her son and the buff dude from passing his buffness to daughters? Sex selective breeding would be a ****** nightmare to accomplish. And this doesn't really have a point.

Qunari society is totally different. you can't judge them like that by comparing them to us. For one thing their society seems to be very segregated. Men and women have different roles and even among the Ben-Hassrath, the females generally deal with other females and the males with other males. So even if being sexy gave some of the female Ben-Hassrath an edge it would only really work against lesbians. Also why do you assume the females wouldn't be considered sexually attractive?  If you mean who they use to spy on other races then they would mostly use members of other races to do that depending on what the job was. I think your idea of an effective spy is a little bit crude and unrealistic if that is in fact what you are saying.

Sex segregation within the Qun has little to do with whom interacts with what sex.

The Beresaad will fight against male soldiers as well as female solders and the Ben-Hassrath will deal with both sexes of whomever they are in charge right now.

Or do you think any male misbehaving Qunari would have a free pass for doing what they're doing only because the Ben-Hassrath doesn't deal with men?

That makes sense, since elves changed when they got exposed to humans and their ageing quicken from long times exposed to them.

Not every information gathering is done via threatening to rip someone's arms from his/her body. And who says every information gathering is solely interested in any vaunted super secrets? Say a good looking Qunari just strolls up and asks for directions around the city, whom would you be more accomodating, a good looking one, or one you'd rather not be seen with because people will gossig how he met a cow woman (that actually had horns like a cow)?

Also, Qunari being extremely simple and straightforward ... are we talking about the same Qunari? The ones I know have vast spy secret networks and agents that will lie, hide and assassinate whenever they feel it necessary.

The simple, straightforward behaviour image has been solely cultivated by the Qunari soldiers. And soldiers tend to be straightforward by habit.

Elves and dwarves are a totally different race, but they look very human.

Why wouldn't a qunari woman have large breasts or a Miranda like face?

Breasts are fat deposits. If a species has them, the larger the average size of the species, the larger the average size of the breast. What about Miranda's face is non-qunari? Symmetry, pale skin, blue eyes, large lips and forehead, square chin?

Miranda was genetically altered to look beautiful to a human being. So she has all the qualities a male might find attractive. That may not apply to a different race like say, the Qunari. Maybe they look at how big the horns are when picking a future mate, or the pain tolerance. That's why I think the qunari shouldn't necessarly have a beautiful face or big breasts - cause they shouldn't be appealing to us, humans, but to other qunari. But I am not a race specialist and my therioes could be all wrong.

The dwarves and elves are indeed a humanoid-like race, but I'm sure they have the same distincve tastes as I pointed above. Maybe a dwarfette is interested in the amount of glorious chest hair, while a dwarf looks for someone who can...cook? Seeing as every dwarfette has big boobs anyway. xD

Miranda's face was based on a real woman who was not genetically altered. Even if we were to allow that some specific combination of facial features is universally 'attractive to humans,' that's not reason for those features to not appear on qunari.

After all, clear skin and bilateral symmetry are widely considered attractive and are evidence of *being healthy*. If you're going to argue that universal attractiveness exists, then it's probably based around features that contribute to a species' fitness.

Of course, we then have to deal with the fact that we have humans on this very forum who find qunari attractive. Who find elves, dwarves, turians, and lizard dudes attractive. Meanwhile, there's a group of people who consider Miranda ugly. Isabela, Morrigan, Liara, Ashley? All of them have been criticized for their looks.

The male Qunari have random boils on their shoulders in the "different concepts of beauty" one.

So clear skin is seemingly not a trait that is highly regarded among Qunari.

Those boils could be scarification "tattoos", not unlike current soldier habit of having unit/branch tattoos.

I think that is the case it's too uniform to be natural.

I think the female Qunari inquisitor we saw recently looked awesome. She had a sort of majestic presence which is what I like to see in my female heroes.

Looks like we can make her face more feminine if we want to. And I'm sure if you use lighter armor, she'll look more feminine as well.

Totally off topic, but where is the male dwarf's chest hair?  Shouldn't he be looking like he's wearing a shag rug?  Or the female dwarf as a well.

I'd like to see her on a full body shot with more casual wear. Face been odd is one thing (i think her ear height, horns and nose are all wrong), but the shoulders from the gear distort her image too much to understand how she really looks like. Seems like a body builder in most pics. I can see her as warrior looking like that but a mage? Seems too wide to fit the role.

The amount of "She's ugly" Comments in this thread worry me. First of all Conventional Standards of Beauty are BS anyways. Second of All, she's a Qunari, an Ox-(wo)man, of course she's not going to look like some dainty little wall flower, she has horns on her head that are the size of teenagers arm and enough muscle to pick up an elf and beat another elf to death with them, this is like complaining the Female Dwarfs look fat because they're rather stout in build.

And yet you hardly see "dwarf females are ugly" thread. I actually think that Sigrun is kind of a fan favorite. Second all the concept art pointed on qunari females being pretty much goddesses. Even a blind man could see the difference. There are people that were genuinely interested on qunari females cause of how they looked in concept art. Are they shallow? Perhaps. Is it wrong? Depends how you look at it. Is it their right? Certainly.

After all if someone likes the design, why would he feel the need to condemn the view of someone that disagrees like what happens in this thread?

Why you would be "worried," about an arbitrary complaint that has been made many times about may different characters it totally beyond me. First off dwarves being rather stout has been a genre convention since at least Tolkien, so longer that anyone who's going to be playing this game has been alive. Seconed anytime, anything comes out that is different from the standard people will complain, remember the complaints about Feneris and his tattoos, and emo jrpg hair. Don't waste you time being worried other peoples perfectly valid person visual taste. You like it, good so do I infact, but our opinion is just as valid as people who dislike it because it's just that, a personal opinion.

Or am I being too reasonable for these forums. Please pardon me while I look for my torch and pitchfork.

They aren't Goddesses, Female Qunari in the Concept art look like Targaryens with horns. That's not bad it's just not very interesting IMO. I like the  Female Qunari we saw in the Demo because she actually looks like she belongs in the same race as the Iron Bull.

It is disappointing to see the lack of ink-blot eyes.

Expected, but not willfully so.

The rest is satisfactory. Just would hope there's eye colour variance.

I was definitely hoping for the black or similarly dark sclera for Qunari eyes, with the yellow/lavender/red cornea.  I'm still hoping it is an option they just didn't use for the demo model.

They really didn't point anything of the sort.

Spoiler

If you look at their faces, they're clearly similar in structure. All facial features check. Nose, upper lip, cheek, forehead, everything.

Even a blind man could see the difference.

Well if people making that kind of judgement were blind it would explain a great deal.
