The fact that he's in the trailer is irrelevant. So is Alistair.

Show where it says "Oghren will be the old companion who is in your new party." Until that happens, not convinced. Could be him, could be someone else.

If Oghren isn't the "secret returning character", don't you think they'd have made him a bit more prominent in the trailer?

No - over the years I've learned it's unwise to second-guess when they're keeping it this close to their chest. And pointless besides. Would I be surprised if it was Oghren? No. But counting your chickens before they hatch is a waste of time and effort.

Oh no! Shephard is dead! He/She is a clone! No, a robot! No, they've been turned into....

I can only take so much of that before my ears bleed. Just wait and see. It is what it is. Guessing with circumstantial evidence is exactly that - a guess. It isn't proof.

Exactly. When you're going to the mage tower, that templar dude that's hanging with the boats (at least, I'm pretty sure its that one) looks reaaaaally close to alistair--has the same hairstyle, hair color, and similar jawline. So it happens =p

My money's on Dog, though.

Nah. It's just not worth it. Starting over after the game has finished, doesn't make sense that way. I would like to continue and not start some kind of new game. But that's just me. Others maybe fine with it. Currently I am not. But like I said... Maybe I'll change my mind.

I'm confused about whether or not you understand what the expansion does.

Don't worry. I understand what it does. I am able to redistribute attributes, specializations, talents and spells for each of the party members in the expansion/game. Thanks for the concern. :)

If guesses are allowed (which they are, apparently) I'll guess: Ser Cauthrien. I have no evidence for this, circumstantial or otherwise. Why do I guess it then? Well, why not? And wouldn't it be cool?

Well, we do not know

From 151987845768468654 threads on the topic we can see that there are two likely possibilities

The no romance option where dog and ogrhen are the top runners

And the romance option where Zev and Leil are top runners.

That is in the context of the old favourite is a companion of DA:O. No I suspect the RL constraints like availability of the actors are likely to throw a spanner in this nicely organised Cartesian world.

I'm pretty sure it's Alistair, what with him being in the trailer (no denying it) and him saying that he has missed the whole fighting darkspawn thing. Him, being like Maric, seems very inclined to leave the throne to go adventuring with the grey wardens again.

Come to think of it... That would be odd... In one of my games Alistair ends up as a drunk touring Ferelden.

I like the character, but she died in most of my games. I killed her either right after rescueing Anora or just before entering the Landsmeet.

Well, firstly, it was kind of a joke. And secondly, games sometimes bring people back from the dead. ;)

I hope it's Duncan. His body wasn't @ Ostagar, and he narrates cutscenes even after his death.

Though I greatly doubt Duncun will appear, He has met The Archeitect. There could be some nefarious plan...

I'm looking forward to the expansion. A continuation of the story. As much as I love the current characters, I can't wait to meet new people, new dialoge, etc... That's the point isn't it?

I know it probably won't fit in with the cannon from the books, but what if Duncan is the Architect?

I'm not serious BTW....Just a wee little joke......

Well, David Gaider (I think) confirmed that you can't choose WHOMEVER you want, but that doesn't mean there's only one option. I think Oghren's just the default for those people not hanging out with Zevran/Leliana/(possibly)Alistair in the epilogue. Or for Orlesians, of course.

I thought Gaider said that having everyone come back to record voice overs just in case you choose their character wouldn't be feasible. Been awhile since I read the post though, so I could be wrong.

I want Sandal to be in it. He seemed to somehow survive a darkspawn invasion on Fort Drakon and get within 2 floors of the Archdemon, he must have a couple of tricks up his sleeve.

Personally, I hope it's Alistair, esp. since his fighting style complemented my rogues' very well, and because he is with my Grey Wardens in each ending, one way or another. My main playthrough wouldn't make sense if he wasn't around for the exp. pac, because they both go off and rebuild the Wardens together. Since Awakenings takes place a few months after the Blight, there would be no reason why he shouldn't be a party member.

Oghren seems like an odd choice, but I wouldn't object. He's hilarious.

It would also be odd without Dog, esp in my human noble playthrough. But, it's been said one returning character. . .

I wonder when they will announce it?

As long as romances are treated better than ME2 as far as continuity, I won't complain :)

Surprising, has anyone considered Loghain (depending on how you handle the Landsmeet)? I mean, his potential epilogue does have him touring Fereldon to recruit new Grey Wardens...

well, they were saying one dude will be returning?
right, i got it. i was a bit sad at first, but settled with it.
then.... the other day, they put up the german side advertising the expansion. (sorry, just a tweaked google-translation, since i'm lazy and tired from work):

" In Dragon Age: Origins Awakening Five new party members are available, to not only bring new skills and personality traits, but differ markedly in terms of their recent history of previous companions.
The developers  have also thought of the fans who want to take their favorite companion in the subsequent adventures as a support. An already well-known member from the main game can therefore also be recruited. "

it's more striking in german, though.
BUT: it reads if things will turn out differently, or, even worse: developers s*** on those, who didn't pick the right favourite;)
edit: is it worded similar in english? didn't check. or maybe my evening, uhm, herb tea is clouding my thoughts:whistle:
edited edit: darn those devilish typos! to hell with 'em!
