Dog- you can choose not to recruit him
Sten-leaves for his homeland
morrigan- left
alistar- possibly die at the end
leliana- possible death at urn of sacred ashes
zeverean- possible death soon as you meet and in Denerim
wynne- can kill on first encounter or before uldred
but orgren you cant ever kill and your forced to recruit him, so him returning wont conflict with any decisions you might have made in the game

But I've said it before and I'll say it again. I think using the theory that you can run off or kill a certain party member kind of.. simple. In articles I've read they have said that how you have ended the game will effect how things play out in the exp. So just because so-and-so is no longer in YOUR game doesn't necessarily mean they won't be the one returning.

But you can ask him to go, can you not? So there's no character that might not be gone. While I suspect it is Oghren or Dog, we don't know that for a fact.

I can't take more fart/penis jokes, BioWare. I just can't. They made me chuckle the first time...but after that, it went down hill very fast.

I hope it's Duncan. His body wasn't @ Ostagar, and he narrates cutscenes even after his death.
*Dons tinfoil hat*
I wouldn't be surprised if Duncan didn't really die. Especially after reading The Calling. I bet the Architect scooped him up somehow, and because Duncan was close to his calling its possible the Architect might try to get him to continue with the plan he had in the book. DUN DUN DUNNN!! XD
But yeah, if they really wanted to save money on hiring voice actors, Dog's just sound effects, lol. Just sayin' is all ;x

No game has ever followed evil choices this way. With Wynne there is a bug. If petra dies at anytime during the circle quest.. can be from a miss-placed fireball, Wynne is listed in the codex as dead while in your party

I was just thinking the same. Dog is the cheapest voice actor ever (one bone and he's a happy panda). And they can easily make 20 more chapters by just using the old records of Dog
Ah well, I'm curious who it will be... Just hope a lot of the old NPC's will return someway

Actually Dog is voiced by a real dog, or so I read when I was doing research on the voice actors.

Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere but isn't Amaranthine in the east of Fereldan? Just to continue to rule out Morrigan, all versions of her epilogue send her west over the Frostback mountains.
Northeast, just east of Highever. While I don't think she'll be back in this expansion, even as a cutscene character (she doesn't seem to fit the story arc), Morrigan doesn't necessarily stay in the Frostbacks.

Wasn't Alistair in the trailer? And didn't the ending say he was called away from Ferelden on warden business? My money's on him.
Only in SOME endings. Many endings I've gotten show that he stays in Ferelden.

In those endings, he was called away to the Anderfels, which is very, very far away from where this takes place. It's possible that the scenes we see in the triler are ones that could take place with Anora, if you make her queen. No idea how that would work if you made yourself ruler. That doesn't preclude Alistair being the one in the party, but I don't think it can be used as evidence that he is.
I'd love a DLC where the PC sets off for the Anderfels to see what the Wardens there have done with Alistair and rescue him if need be. It seems odd that he has to promise to return, almost like he has a bad feeling about the whole thing. I doubt we'll ever see that unless they decide to make a series of DLCs that are ending dependent, which may not be financially viable. It would get people to try endings they haven't, though....

I doubt that. Now wouldn't that just be plain cruel... if they had to make the "real dog" do the angry growls / sad whine noises? <_<
Not to mention the sounds he makes when he gets hurt in combat.

They have been able to get lions and Elephants to work together, so I suppose that getting a dog to make sounds shouldn't be too hard (without using abusive tactics, which would get many up in arms, me included)...

I hope it is him as well but it just seems weird it wouldn't be Dog. What happened to Dog? Why wouldn't he come with you?

They could probably get an actor dog to do it without cruelty, but it would be cruel to the players. I have enough trouble with the whimpers from the wolves and enemy Mabari. I wish games didn't always make me kill canines.

Um...the probably trained the dog to make noises on command. I am sure it was about as cruel as training a dog to 'come'.

Is it Morrigan? This is a huge deciding factor on if I purchase Mass Effect 2 or not.
I will decide this for you: purchase Mass Effect 2 and enjoy it since it looks great.
Then in March or whenever decide if you are going to get the expansion. But seriously did you finish Dragon Age? That should answer your question about Morrigan. Have an open mind. We get new party members you might like one of them more than Morrigan.

I kind of agree. If you'll take your dog to fight a blight, you'll take your dog anywhere and everywhere.
