If I am incorrect, which I 99% most probably am, please disregard. But I just came across something rather interesting.
I hope everyone has gone and watched the 20 minute demo they put out today. It's right here on the forums for your convenience. It looks fantastic, I absolutely can't wait for the game.
When watching the demo...pay attention to 9:50-9:53. Sera's bloody corpse thrown across the room? She looks pretty dead to me...sheesh what a way to go. In a demo, no less.
I don't know whether this is Sera specific, or if any companion is subject to this at that scene, or if she's actually dead and not just knocked out. Definitely surprised me, had to rewatch it a few times to be sure. That's definitely her.
The way I see this is the result of either two things: Bioware dun goofed and accidentally revealed a spoiler, or they used Sera's character model to show an NPC killed by some demons (similar to what they did with Major Coats in Mass Effect 3 at the end). Either way, it's a fail.
Thoughts?
EDIT: My good man SerCambria358 brought up the idea that this scene possibly takes place in the Fade, where a death in the Fade is not lethal in reality. Definitely a viable explanation.
There's a Mass Effect 3 trailer that shows Liara getting killed by an Atlas

They said she and iron bull were defending the door and Sera was tossed unconscious into the room. I hadn't even noticed it before they said that so I had to watch it again.

Well sh*t she looked pretty damn dead when they threw her. Glad she doesn't die so early on.

But that was waay early in the game. Level 7 Inquisitor indicates that. Since we start the game in Ferelden, I figure we progress west to Orlais and seeing as it was Redcliffe, I'm sure Sera isn't dead.
That means nothing, one of them (Gaider, i think) said that the level was none-indicative of how far along the story we was, as they studio can just jump around as they please regardless of level.
If you noticed they were not really playing due to the normal 'rules', in the demo with the dwarven Inquisitor, Vivienne's health reached zero several times in a row in combat against the dragon, and simply refilled automatically each time. These are test runs to show off the features, not playing properly.

Well, to be fair, people who are unconscious and smeared in blood from battle would look pretty dead until you checked for a pulse or breathing etc.

Which is an interpretation just like everyone else who said the same (Or did one of the devs tell her otherwise? I thought they wanted to leave us guessing..). I'm still leaning towards her being a placeholder. Sera's walking animation is completely off from the one she has in the companion trailer.

But seriously what happened to Iron Bull? We don't even get to see a body for him.

hmm maybe if your influence is very low or negative or like ME2 if you skip her personal quest ,she (and maybe others) actually gets killed ?
Here's hoping that's the case.Saves me the trouble of killing her later.(Better make a note to take her armor before that fight)

It's possible that the enemy made sure Iron Bull was overly pre-occupied while another group took out Sera to get at the Inquisitor (the threat they'd be most concerned with).

I get the horrible feeling he might have gone down already and they pre-occupied him with death

I don't know what's to guess, they wouldn't show the possible death of a companion in a trailer and if they did I would imagine they'd make it clear she was dead like if the monsters dragged her into the room and cut her throat or something.

Frankly I just hope there's options to avoid it. By prepping the right stuff or bringing the right companions.

It's probably like the ME2 suicide mission - i.e. only certain companions survive due to reasons.

If the idea is to keep us guessing if she died then making it clear runs counter to that. But this is all moot I guess since it seems they have spoiled possible deaths in the past.

i like the idea of iron bull throwing sera at them and running away.
highly doubt they'd give away something so crucial when they do a lot to keep things quiet. although if they are just showing off possibility that your companions can die, then maybe they are just warning us to prepare ourselves and make good choices.
who knows. a dream like in ME3? the fade? i can't wait to find out. but also really afraid.
just a normal day in the life of a bioware fan.

Well in one of the videos i saw a dev said if you are trying very very hard you can finish the game with just 1 companion so yep Sera might have died there

Pretty sure it's been mentioned before that you 'resolve' the Mage and Templar thing early on in the game, and the choice you make cuts you off entirely from whole section of content in relation to the other side. If that's the case there is no way they are just killing off the companions you got in the beginning to do the beginning missions.
Just doesn't make any sense, also anyone saying she looks really dead instead of unconscious, I don't think you understand what being unconscious means. Your basically a meat ragdoll in either state, dead or unconscious. So yeah it could be either but all evidence points to unconscious.

And this statement can also simply mean that you can tell all but one companion to go take a hike (or you could not recruit them).

His statement was 100% in relation to running them off by being an ******* to all of them, and it would take A LOT of effort of 'actually' ensuring your an ass to all of them. Like going out of your way to make sure you make all the choices they have while they're with you and swap them around just for that while being a complete dick in conversations. That could actually be an amusing play through but sounds like a lot of work just to see if you can end up with just you and Cassandra at the end (assuming Cassandra since she starts it all).
