Being a vassal state before being absorbed are hardly appealing options.

The nobles wouldn't even notice the difference. The taxes they pay would just go to a different crown. The ones who would really feel the difference would be the Fereldan royalty, but they willingly went into the union in this case, so that wouldn't be an issue.

People don't know what they want or not.

It would probably advance Ferelden well beyond their current standards, economically, militarily, politically and culturally. The only "downside" is that they would lose their vaunted independance.

With that mindset, the entire world should subjulgate to either Tevinter or the Qunari.

Only if you consider the Qunari or Tevinter a cultural advancement.

Cultural advancement is leaving other people the **** alone.

Just for once, Earth might evolve if it did that. And Thedas.

While I agree Loghain was right about the fool Calian, and his puppet master Celene. He still underestimated the Blight.

Incorrect. You are part of the world, so you will be influenced by it, and you will yourself exert influence upon. Isolationism cannot work.

Isolationism worked wonders for the elves, untill the humans came along and screwed everything.

I'm not talking about total isolationism. I believe in proactivity when it comes to helping other people who aren't being left alone as well. I still have a strong belief in the "Golden Rule" if you will. The idea that we should "do unto others" as we would have done to us. That means helping the oppressed, slaves, the sick, the gay, etc.. Situations when people are being intruded upon, and not hurting anyone with their existence.

I don't believe in sticking my fingers everywhere though, meddling in all manner of political affairs, expanding borders, or seeking out "new vassals" to advance some preconception of what "world culture" should be. There is no world culture. The sooner we respect the many types of people and cultures though, then we might come close to a global understanding of....something.

edit: This is a bit off topic, I think. But I said my piece.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Loghain was right. He had legitimate reasons for his being being paranoid about both Celene and Cailan's intentions, but he was also wrong in seeing Orlais as Ferelden's greatest threat instead of the darkspawn. Loghain nearly destroys the nation he thinks he is saving, and would have had the Warden not been around to rescue it. In short, at Ostagar Loghain makes a massive strategic blunder.

He then goes on to compound the error. It's why I end up executing him - I refuse to waste the joining juice on an old guy who cuts off his nose to spite his face.

Which kind of proves my point, no?

I think you're just an extrovert. There are social extroverts who are concerned with everyone's feelings, and then thinking types.. who dwell on various ways to organize the environment. Usually they are middle managers, but sometimes they get political.

My urge to be left alone essentially comes from introversion. "Get off my lawn. ****** off". That's my motto ;) And probably Loghain's.
