They just did maleShep because to them, that's the true shepard, they have options to customize shepard to your liking, but for canon-story purposes, they stick with showing only maleShep

THE ONLY "CANON" THERE IS IS THE ONE YOU MAKE YOURSELF AS A PLAYER. There IS no "official" canon in ME. That's what so great about it, it's all about YOUR choices.

Sorry, I'm just sick of hearing about apparent ME "canon". Sheploo is for MARKETING purposes, not "canon" purposes.

I don't think it matters if it confuses you. Just by posting on these forums you are proving that you have an above average knowledge of games in general, Mass Effect included. Remember that the videos were for marketing purposes, i.e. for people who had not seen the game before, basically assuming that they know nothing of the game's customization options.

If I were a newbie to ME, and the commercials showed two different Shepards, I'm pretty sure I'd just end up thinking that they were two different characters.

I don't think the person playing on the live stream is renegade enough to have glowing red eyes.

I'd have to agree with this point.
You can imagine someone going "Well... is this like CoD4 where I switch between two different people on a regular basis?... Or like RE4 where I have to control Ashley for the scrappy level of the game?"  since the game resembles a shooter at first glance.

I think the best choice would've them releasing a trailer that touts the customization system and shows a person going through faces/races/genders/armors/casual outfits rather than just showing trailers of gameplay with different shepards

As it is, we still have people on these forums asking who Jack is.

So they only come if you're extremely renegade? I had hoped that it would be possible to remove the scars while retaining the eyes. :(

This shep is about... level 7 was it?  I think I posted a pic with her renegade level.  I haven't noticed any red eyes yet.  One of the developers said that if you're renegade enough, your scars will open and the implants will show through, I'm guessing that applies to eyes too, that if you're renegade enough, your occular impants will become visible.

Aha. Well, I just hope the little gizmo that heals up the scars at any alignment will give you the option to keep the eyes while healing the scars. The eyes just look too wicked cool to remove. I wonder how they'll look on a FemShep. :D

I'm all about femshep - I enjoyed her Vo work so much than my first game with maleshep. This will be the first time I start an RPG as a female and may not even bother switching genders. She's all decked out in Colossus X, level 60, waiting to be imported for duty. And I'm three blocks from a gamestop where I get to line up and get it a midnight. Can't wait.

Wow, you people really are dense aren't you?

SHEPERLOO HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE ICONIC SHEPARD

:alien:

in fairness, i am very dense:huh:, but i acknowledge sheploo as the face of marketing. what im noting is bioware's reason for never showing femshep anywhere ever: not a gameplay vid, not a tech demo, not even a screenshot, simply because it would 'confuse' us. DAO never had such marketing restrictions, hell they had a trailer with a character you couldnt make, and no one lost all ideas of what the game was about like me2's team seem to think. all they have to do is say "in ME2, you can customize the gender of your character" in the start of some video and problem solved.

Thanks for reminding me.

I forgot that I was mad that none of the characters looked the same as they did in the DAO trailers, and that there weren't any CGI sequences like the trailer in the game.

*Shakefist*

Not to mention your character doesn't talk, so s/he seems to be the least characterized and looks emotionally vacant during conversation.

And your eyes don't actually glow!

why wouldn't it be? It the direction the Dev's said the story would go with there Shepard. It's the "official" ending they themselves layed out. I would say that pretty canon.

Source on that statement?
I haven't heard anything of the sort. In fact, I get the impression that that's what they're trying to AVOID with Mass Effect. It's about you, the player, making decisions that shape the universe.

And there's no "pretty canon". It either is or isn't. Like, are there male asari? Canon answer: NO! There's no "well, there might be, but it's 'pretty canon' that there aren't"

Thanks for posting these images. I had been curious what femshep looked like, especially in off-duty clothes. Those look fantastic.

There is no canon story. If you start a new game without importing they ask you questions about what happened and your answers decide how ME 1's story went.

That's not entirely true.
There are default decisions - Wrex and the Council die, The person the same gender as you dies on Virmire.

Then you get questioned and that helps set your other choices (and maybe alter the default ones).

With 100+ decisions being imported, they can't just ask you them all.

Or... I'm watching a live stream and taking screenshots for people who either don't know how to find live streams, or are concerned about spoilers.
(I kinda got tired of hearing people complaining about the lack of femshep material and decided I'd just provide some since they seemed happier posting about it than looking for it)

Something for nothing, last I heard they took that out. Marlina, by "pretty canon" I mean to say that yeah having the devs choose the ending fro you in the beginning sounds like a canon ending to me. They make concessions for your choices in the first one yeah but as long as they have the Dev created ending that is the "official" way it happened in my book.

The source of that statement is built in ME 2. The devs wrote the ending in for you if yo udon't haev an import so thats the way THEY see the ending hppening.
