i'm not stating that gays hate any group, i am saying that you can get away with excluding/bashing/complaining about a straight character on these boards and get away with it. it's not so simple the other way around. not that it should be, but if one isn't okay, the other shouldn't be alright either.

Anyway since I did plan for any of my characters to romance her I don't really care much if she's lesbian. Though I'll probably never use her, Varric is my main rogue.
Was there actually anyone on these boards who would outright state they're dropping a companion from their party for no other reason but because he/she is straight? Just so we can know if this theory has been verified in any manner...i'm not stating that gays hate any group, i am saying that you can get away with excluding/bashing/complaining about a straight character on these boards and get away with it.

Sure, my main Inquisitor is going to be male and romance Cassandra (or Vivienne), but I'm definitely going to roll a Femquisitor at some point.

Yeah, except it's not really happening... Like I said before, I love straight people. I love men. I'm not attracted to them. Nor would I ever sleep with one, but I'm not going to discount them because they are straight. In fact, I've yet to really meet a gay person who does hate on straight people. I've seen lots of straight people who want nothing to do with gay people though.

This is America, not liking the French makes you a patriot. Or at least Fox News leads me to believe so.

I know there are people that will not play games, watch movies, or read books where there aren't homosexual characters but I think realistically not many people would drop a character from their party for being straight.

I don't see much point in the poster you are referring to posting what they did (it just incites argument). However, it is possible they are roleplaying a homophobic Inquisitor. It is a role-playing game after all. I don't think they actually said 'I don't want anyone homosexual near me', they were referring to their character.
Still probably would just be better left unsaid so as not to upset people, but I don't think we can assume it was definitely meant as a slight on the LGBT community out here in the real world.

It is a role-playing game after all. I don't think they actually said 'I don't want anyone homosexual near me', they were referring to their character.

i wasn't really a troll, i just like to play the field. i remember those threads being super hostile if you wanted a character to stay straight, or not be gay for any reason. so why not play advocate for the heterosexual side? the homosexual side seemed well enough off anyway.
plus i couldn't change my name back then so it was funny to see people's PMs saying 'god bless' and a whole bunch of other ridiculous nonsense.

If Pink Diamondsti doesn't want to have a Character in her party, for whatever reason, that is her choice and her right to do so. Likewise if others don't want a character in their party, for whatever reason, then thats their choice and right.

I'm not going to start having a go at anyone but how do you expect people not to be offended by that? Simply the fact that they felt the need to make it clear that they no longer wanted that character for that specific reason. There are gay people on this forum you know, like me for example.

I dunno what's really to debate about this, it wasn't even veiled homophobia. People have a right to be as such, but it's still distasteful to spread it around.
