Well, anyways, if I'm to take an honest stab at this: solely from a "who do you want your Inquisitor's best friends in the game to be?" standpoint, I'd say Cassandra (actually a romance, but that's still friendship, in a sense), Varric (best buds for life!), Blackwall, & Leliana will almost certainly be good friends. Iron Bull, Cullen, & Sera are probable friends. No chance of Vivienne being my buddy, I think. As for Dorian, "Cole", "Scribbles", & Solas, I've no idea, yet, really.

With Sera being non-romanceable for "me" (totally self-inserted Inquisitors), seems like I'll have to bromance her. Varric was bro with my Hawke. IB is an enigma here. Cole seems interesting, but after "Justice"-nonsense, I have a hard time trusting anything from the Fade. I have a good feeling about Solas, though I may never unsee Nicholas Cage.

i don't know most of them yet, but Cass (fighting pals), Sera (drinking buddies), Scribbles (nerd) and Vivienne (shopping friends) seem to be all possible bromance option, depending on interest/thoughts about how the world should look like. I don't see Leli or Morrigan as Inquistor's friends, they both have an interesting history already and their own goals.
As for gentlemen... Varric is outgoing, smart and has wonderful sense of humour - an obvious BFF (unless he'd gone through some serious changes), Iron Bull (muscles, badass with past squadmate), Dorian (no idea about that dude, seems like a typical romance option), Beardy (fighting pals and drinking buddies), Solas (no idea, he looks very... plain, another romance option I'd say), if Cole, assuming it's him, was the same as in Asunder, i'd picture his relationship with inquisitor much like the one with Rhys (I wouldn't call it a bromance tho); Cullen doesn't seem like a fun person to be around, he's not a follower so no prospect on friendship on a professional level here, I guess devs assumed you either romance him or never speak to him (waiting for murder knife opportunity).
i really look forward to being surprised in october ![]()

^ Varric doesn't seem to have changed so much, at least from what I read throughout the comic series, so I'd be surprised if he weren't still joking around, or still somewhat personally narrating as a play on what he did when Hawke said something, etc.

Yeah, Iron Bull seems like he might be interesting to get to know. By the comments that he's made about Varric being dumb, I've wondered if that has to do with their hostility towards each other, or if Varric has changed very much compared to his earlier demeanour in DA2.

Iron Bull does seem to be the "Bro" this time around, although Sera seems to be a good candidate for this as well, if you are anti elves. Usually the "bro" is the one without many leanings of their own and is more carefree. So Sera, Iron Bull, or Blackwell. Sera and Blackwell seem to lean more to the moral side of things, so Iron Bull seems the best choice.

As long as he doesn't pull a Fenris then I am sure we will get along great.
However he doesn't hold a candle to Garrus Vikarian.

Fenris drove me crazy. Finally he sees good mages, still believes all mages are evil.
As for Garrus, this is true. But I also think it's because we had a lot more time to see Garrus grow. If that turns out to be the same for Varric, it could very well mean Varric turns out better than we anticipated. Not to mention, there's still so much of Varric's past to uncover anyway.

No idea i never got the whole Hawke/Varric thing or the whole Shepard/Garrus thing either, varric to me on all play throughs was just a guy recounting my story an nothing more, garrus was someone i never used in me1 an never used in me2 apart from sometimes doing his loyalty mission depending if i wasnt just going to kill him on suicide mission an again times he got into me3 i hardly used him.
Wrex was more my buddy in ME1 then Grunt in me2, in DA ive never had that "buddy" feeling for any of the companions tbh, Alistair maybe but that bout it.
When it comes to DA:I who knows, i dont since i no idea how the companions are apart from a few lines of writing

I hope we do get the chance for an equivalent of the shooting the cans scene. It seemed such a nice touch that your friend realises how much pressure you are under and that it might be great to just chill together and do something fun to give you a break. There is so much attention given to romances, it is nice to come to a thread that celebrates friendship.
I thought it was great but sort of amusing that in DA2 the guys in the party regularly got together to relax and play cards and that even Fenris and Anders apparently put aside their differences at these gatherings. I could also understand why a female Hawke might be excluded but not a male. It made you feel that you were missing all the fun. Heck even my mabari took part in these gatherings. It says something when your comrades prefer the company of your dog to you.
I'd quite like a sort of folk night, where different companions tell a story or sing a song, while comparing different types of ale. The DA equivalent of going to the nightclub in ME.
I'm not sure who I want to be best buddy yet but it would be good to have that sort of relationship with at least one of the companions. Likely candidates would appear to be Varric, Blackwall or Sera, may be Cassandra.

Yeah it would be amazing if there was some sort of downtime quest that let you enjoy a bit of fun being with your companions

Yes. It's around the part he's talking about throwing Sera.

Are you sure that he wasn't saying Varric is "dense," as in heavily/solidly built, and not "dense" as in simple or stupid?
