The biggest mistake they could make is not acknowledging the ending YOU the player got. Because of the enormity of effect the endings could have we need to see something. The ending you got in ME3 should change the game even if they're so busy its only dialogue options or something. If the ignore what you did in the other games this could become another me3 endind debocle. I mean say you get the ending where shepard "lives" even if he isnt the main character could he be an ai or a crew member or even a love interest? No offense to any femsheps out there. And p.s i want a quarian romance or im done with mass effect. Jk
I agree. I love the fact that there is consequences to your decisions but I think that this was the problem with the ending to Mass Effect 3. It might be possible that originally Bioware intended for Mass Effect 4 to start directly after the events of 3 and by giving it such a neutral ending, they can build from it again without the all the little and big conseqeunces of the previous games going into a new trilogy. It is clear now that if that was their plan, they have abandoned it.
But here is hoping some of the big decisions remain to effect the galaxy.

Biggest LOL. Mass Effect 3 doesn't have it's save file after you wake up near kid. So the ME4 won't even know what ending you got.

An update, interactive comic or ME version of DA Keep could take care of that.

if it ends up being a prequel then maybe we could have some characters from the trilogy or if its before any of them where born (Wrex not included he's centuries old) they could focus on some of the past major events that are talked about. Rachni war, first contact war? Those could both be very good templates.

It won't be a prequel. Not a direct sequel either.

I read "quarian romance" and that's what I took away from that.
But yeah, lets see that. Galaxy-wide aftermath! Distrust for the Asari for hiding the beacon! Galaxy-wide applause, thanks and adoration for the galaxy's running gag race, the Volus! Krogan committing to positive change! And of course, the Geth and Quarians coexisting, in addition to the Geth coming into their own as their own race!

Of course, my ending isn't exactly 'standard"
But if they can do it i say go for it!

Also I hope they put back the weapons with no clips that just need cooldown. I still wonder did the galaxy go backwards in technology from ME1 to ME2

I hope they make a hybrid system. You can cancel overheat by reloading a clip but you still can wait for it to cool down. Always pissed me off that if I'm out of clips, I can't shoot. Why? Are weapons overheated by default and only cool down through clips? That's lame.
