As a straight female, I'm just going to chime in and say i actually find all the male characters in Inquisition attractive. Varric, like many have said, has that romance-novel cover roguish thing going on, Dorian looks totally old Hollywood, and i actually find Solas really striking. Cullen we haven't seen yet but that interview with Cameron Lee ("make him hotter!") tells me he'll be, well, hot. The Iron Bull, while not conventionally attractive, is just masculinity x1000, and Blackwall reminds me of Duncan and Riordan - strong and older and experienced.
On the other hand, and I don't share this opinion, people have said Cass looks like a man, Sera looks like a crack addict, and Vivienne is scary.
Plus, I think personality is so much more important than looks when it comes to attraction. I'd pick Garrus with his personality (and that voice!) over pretty Kaidan any day. And though I thought Sebastian in DA2 was the best looking of the bunch I could barely stand him.

Say what?

It's probably the make-up.

Can't remember where I saw it, but it was right after the E3 trailer came out with that scene of her in the field, among the ten pages or so of people complaining about her haircut
.
I read an article in a science section of an on line paper about a year ago - and just looked it up, because despite the reasoning of 'objective' beauty standards, it's not quite right in the way the OP is using it.
First let me be clear, there are apparently some base standards from which people find other people attractive, many come from reasoning based on evolutionary biology, and research by scientists and social anthropologists have found that the science of attraction can be consistent between cultures - the problem in defining beauty objectively stems from the fact those base standards are not the same for everyone.
And - yay science! ![]()
As a scientist I'm not convinced all of the studies these 'facts' come from are great pieces of research, but it does give food for thought. I would try and independently verify them but really this is gaming forum and I suspect that scientific discourse really isn't going to happen in any depth here ![]()

I guess it's because I've seen more crackheads than I'd like in my neighborhood, but Sera looks a little too healthy lol.
Very well, since I see this argument keeps being brought up, let's clear it once and for all. THERE IS SUCH A THING AS OBJECTIVE BEAUTY.
The problem with the images you posted is they're not about beauty. (By the way, I'd say the second guy looks pretty average, so that and sex appeal are not mutually exclusive, like OP suggests). They're about what looks healthy. Bad skin, hair and teeth most certainly aren't beautiful, but it doesn't tell us what beauty is. The range is too wide for that. Blonde, dark-haired, bald, clean-shaven, bearded, black, asian, muscled, curvy, skinny... they all could be beautiful in their own way. A picture's worth a thousand words, so let's take a look:
And in this thread there are complaints like "But-but he's bald!" "I hate his mustache!" and "She looks like a man!" and so on. Which do not have anything to do with beauty. At all.
Now that I think of it, I seem to have beaten myself out of the argument by bringing "the evolutionary perspective" into it. Which is more about instincts than emotions and prejudice and socially ingrained mindsets. I still feel that "universal beauty" is more appropriate, but "objective beauty" isn't as wrong as I thought going into the argument. But it's semantics, so I'll stop there, because that doesn't really have a place in a thread that isn't specifically about semantics.Uuuh.... yes. So what did I say wrong?
But standard beauty does exist, and it was defined in the ancient times already.
Across the different centuries and cultures, all representations of goodlooking people are the same.

You should read the original Grimm version of Cinderella.

hey who wouldn't chop off some parts of their feet to fit a shoe so they could become royalty?
I cannot be the only person who think Solas is sexy as hell. I love him.
I'd argue that Cassandra is actually the "Ugliest" character, with very aggressive looking features not conforming to what most would call standard beauty.
Still, I find her riveting for some reason. I think maybe it's just because I'm not interested in the tried-and-true demure female, or even the spunky "Best friend you can also bed" archetype Sera seems to be going for. Cassandra commands respect just on how she carries herself, and that's better than a good set of boobs in my book.
Overall, and again "Straight Male Opinion" I think DA:I has the most attractive males in any Bioware game so far. And if facial hair just happens to be your thing, holy hell does Bioware have you covered, Between Dorian, Blackwall and Varric, you've got the holy trinity of facial hair covered. Full Lumberjack, Suave Gunslinger and Sexy Stubble w/Grizzly Bear chest.
She's what you would call an impressive woman. I don't think DA:I did her any favours from her DA2 incarnation, She could be quite the interesting contradiction with what they said about her approach to romance.

I get that, but I can't help but feel weirded out by people finding Cass uglier than, say, Iron Bull. He's a huge non-human body builder who's missing an eye!!! ![]()
