Him? Maybe. This guy tho:

Spoiler
scares me out of my socks.

The thing I took away from his bio though is that your spoiler is how he looks, but the other is how he acts. So he's kinda both at the same time.

I'll bet that makes laundry day a drag, when you have to go hunting for your sock's mates?

I am not a troll. I swear.

This is something that has always bugged me a lot about Bioware games.

Dragon Age: Origins felt like it had the equal share of eyecandy for boys and girls of all sexual preferences.

But personally I always felt Mass Effect was definitely sexist. (Anyway, this is not the Mass Effect forum.)

Mass Effect 3 was definately sexist with the way they objectified and barbiefied Ashley, it warmed my heart to learn that Kimberly Brooks hated her redesign

Meh, I actually don't think any of the females in DAI are terribly 'sexy'. Cass is cute, Sera is too, Viv is ok, Scribbles could be I need a few more pics (and with her as the focus instead of background) to be sure. The dudes however: Varric is awesome, Dorian is fairly classically handsome, Solas and Blackwall are more takem or leave em.

Agreed everytime I saw her I had to either sigh or roll my eyes then I noticed the battle heels oh good lord the f**king battle heels, had to turn off the game for a while after that at least I can change her into some actual armor but I still can't make her tie her hair up and out of her face *grumble grumble*

Now I see the companions of this new game, and.... look at the pictures above. Female companions seem clearly designed with "must look hot" in mind, while male characters are plain ugly or average.

I suppose I'm the only lady in this forum who is bothered by this? Are you fellow ladies eager to date Solas or Varric, while your fellow players can enjoy dating Vivienne or Cassandra?

Have you seen Dorian?!? AND CULLEN??

uh, this seems about personal taste.  What are the metrics physical appearance is being judged by?  I think sexist is way to strong a term and can not be used to describe the character design in this game, of all games.  Miranda was very proud of her body and also insecure (which me is me? am I my modifications) which caused her to flaunt her attributes.  Jacob while pretty much a dick, was also sexualized.  I think the character design told us about them as people.  DAI is much less toned down than that- and honestly, all the faces seem kind of weird.  Iron Bull's looks like it was painted on, the elves have strange proportions, but I don't think it can be argued one gender gets pretty and the other doesn't.

I always though Varric was like the Fonzarelli of dwarves. I wouldn't call him ugly.

What if I told you that I've seen more "OMG I'm not interested in any female champ, the men look way better" threads?

What if I told you quite a few people are not a fan of Cassandra at all, and claim she looks like a man.

What if I told you, people hated Sera's voice and ragged hair, and thought she looked like Joffrey Baratheon?

What if I told you that people don't like Vivienne... because, I don't know nobody ever specifies for her.

...And what if I told you that I really like Solas, Cullenites are a huge fanbase, everyone loves the Bull's back muscles, and Dorian's moustache. And Dorian is pretty good looking underneath the moustache too. Oh, and Varric, 'nuff said. People love him. Best looking dwarf I've ever seen, and I usually dislike Dwarves :P

Edit: Forgot about Scribbles. I like her too, you just have really weird opinions. And that's okay xD

How... how could you?  Varric is Paragon of Manliness!

EDIT: And yes, even though romance isn't my favorite part of any Bioware game, I've been "looking forward to dating" Varric since before DAII even came out.

we got way to much male companion and not enough female companion come on we need a bit more female (qunari female plz!) so far we only got like 4 female (cassandra, viv, sera and leliana) and we got 7 male we need like 3 more female to have it equaly (or maybe 2 more) i'll know i sound dromatic over this but i am a huge fan of dragon age i love both dao&da2 (along whit all of their dlc) and i would enjoy a good romance whit our new hero that look decent, cassandra look kinda cuteish and sera look super cute but she only like other female and i dont have a problem whit that  and viv she don't look very romanceable for me.

i am not a troll that go over all the small detail  but i am just a fan who want too give is opion

I gotta say, Solas is the first male elven companion without great hair. Come on, BioWare! That was practically a tradition! Why stop here?

Because people complained Fenris looked too much like he belonged in an episode of Final Fantasy.

I actually think it's the other way around... and I actually think you, OP, is presenting a disingenuous statement, showing off two male companions and forgetting about the rest of them? I mean: Dorian, Cullen... I know it's hard to judge the beauty of pixels... but aren't they eye-candy enough?

This sexism issue can sometimes get incredibly ridiculous...

That's probably why the OP chose to use the only picture they could for DA2 Casandra and not the improved mansculine version in DAI.

I think it's the other way around actually. I think morrigan is the best looking female character and she's not even a companion.

Not really a Vivienne fan and Cassandra is decent looking at best.

The men are definitely a lot more varied than the women. The women are all very close to the standard of beauty in age and body type. The men are all size, all the different races, all ages. I think it rubs people the wrong way to say the men are ugly and the women are hot, but they definitely cared more about hitting the most accepted standard of beauty with women and staying there.

Anybody else noticed that Mass Effect's sexism is making a great return here?

Bioware advertises romance like it's one of the main features of their games.

Yet, let us compare the gorgeous ladies:

Vivienne_closer_look.png

CassandraPentaghast.png

To the male companions:

Solashd.png

Varric.jpg

.....Do I need to add anything else?

This game is pulling a Bound By Flame on us, by making hot female characters and ugly male characters.

Ever see that article talking about how women rated around 80%+ all the men on a dating site as "below average" whereas the men tended to be a bit closer to the "average".  However you would say that, basically somewhere around half of women were average etc.....but when looking at the various pictures a lot of the guys that were rated at below average were okay looking guys.

To put it another way; people especially women have much lower standards of beauty for the female half of the population than they do for the male half.

Something to consider; when you factor in that all the guys might be 6"2, in impeccable physical condition, strong jawed and little to no scars but you still feel they are average and/or ugly.

Honestly? I am quite envious of Dorian's looks (in a strictly normal, jealous guy kind of way). I mean, look at some of the pics of the guy, what guy in their right mind would not want to look like that?

I think it's pointless to argue this. Different people find different people attractive. End of the line.
