All I can say to this thread is that tastes are subjective and I personally find most of the male companions quite appealing.   :D

I think that Solas is quite striking and good looking (I'm glad he doesn't look like a pretty boy,); Iron Bull is nicely rugged; Blackwall will be at least nice eye candy if he isn't available; Dorian has inspired me to do a m/m romance down the road; and Varric is gorgeous.

I have a feeling that those that are complaining that the men (or women in other threads) are "average" or "ugly" might be singing a different tune come release.  I had read posters that confessed that they thought Fenris was unappealing when they first saw him, due to the more anime-style of his looks, but then loved his personality.  Or, in my case with the ladies, I thought I was going to be turned off by Isabela's looks (too busty for my usual taste) and her sexual freedom (mainly because I thought the writers would push it way too far,) but I wasn't and she is my favorite f/f relationship, and my second favorite friendship in DA2.

<shrug> To each their own.  I think the party members of both genders look fantastic.

Could not agree with you more, Nata.  This is exactly how I look at it.  If I didn't find any of the characters attractive, but others did, I wouldn't assume that I was right and others were wrong.  I happen to find all of the guys with the exception of Solas and Cole to be very atttractive and I think all of the ladies are very attractive, especially Vivienne.

Anybody else noticed that Mass Effect's sexism is making a great return here?

Bioware advertises romance like it's one of the main features of their games.

Yet, let us compare the gorgeous ladies.

Baldies and buzz cuts are deffenetly not gorgeous.

OP as a straight dude, the only lady character revealed for DA:I I'd find objectively attractive is Scribbles, and Sera on a personality level,  but I'll have to run a lesbian character for a PT to get her romance. I will, but that's something I wouldn't usually do in general because it's odd for me to roleplay. I play both genders in BioWare games anyway though. So like everybody's saying, people have different tastes.

One other thing bothers me though about your op. Vivi is kind of an exotic beauty model type of character design, I agree, but there's nothing wrong with that. When your personal ideology starts to lead to calling for the exclusion of entire archetypes of character just because you don't think they actively promote your preferred social agenda, when artistic censorship becomes acceptable, it might be time for a little self reflection. Even if it's a male character ogling an attractive lady like Miranda or Edi's sexbot aspect or the ludicrous battle heels in Mass Effect. Not that anybody's intentionally doing that, but keep in mind that at least considering different people's taste in entertainment, it's more effective and a lot more fair to people with contrary perspective to support what you like than attack any given instance of what you don't. If you think space heels are unrealistic and clash with Mass Effect's ethos, I'm with you. If you then carry that out to accusations of sexism, you lose me. Just as an example. Sexy tropes, even ludicrous, incongruous ones, don't equal sexism unless as a whole, there's also an oppressive intent or actively harmful systemic inertia. Sometimes contrary things really mean something entirely different to the audience they're intended for, and hopefully people can accept each other's different perspectives.

It doesn't matter if the male companions are ugly, because my Inquisitor will be the hottest dude in Thedas ;)

All I know is everyone is really damn gorgeous and I am going to have a hell of a time making up my mind and this game is going to keep me busy for a really long ass time. Between Inquisition and my 8 month old son I don't know how much sleep I'll be getting in the coming months once it's out- lol.

Gah, especially if there is 8 LIs? How does one choose!?

And I may completely change my mind about Solas once we hear more about him. And with Cole it's because he's a spirit with the mind of a child and nononononowrong, whatever he looks like.

Merill was very childish and innocent (to the point where I can say she had the mindset of like a 12 year old sometimes), and she was romancable. I found it odd that people wanted to romance her for that reason, but going by her I'd say that that wouldn't be a reason why Bioware wouldn't make Cole romancable.

David Gaider has specifically stated that this is one reason Cole is not a romance, though.

Merrill is a naive and sheltered, but she's clearly an adult. Cole is a spirit who doesn't understand romance and sex. It's really not the same thing.

since when is Kaidan "average"?. and there are plenty who also find Garrus & Vega sexy. Mordin has gotten hit on by various species - his skin tone is very attractive by turian standards, and he also got to break Omega's only rule "don't FOCK with Aria".

Javik.........no comment.

Speak for yourself.

I mean, not compared to Varric, sure.  But seeing Vivienne with her hat off really lets you appreciate her flawless cheekbones.

Well, I didn't find either Anders or Fenris physically attractive when they first showed up in DA2 but I wound up loving Fenris' romance, so I'm not putting too much stock in the companions appearances. I'm sure that their voices and/or personalities will win me over.

I don't find any of the characters really "conventionally attractive" this time, but that's not something that really bothers me, to be honest. I'm very interested in Iron Bull because his personality sounds awesome, same for Varric (well, we know his personality is awesome, but yeah). I've seen some people calling Sera ugly, but if I had to pick the most generally attractive looking companion I would point to her. In fact, the only character I can't see myself really being attracted to is Dorian because I've never liked mustaches at all. Very shallow of me, but we all have our problems. :P

Do men really have to be pretty to be attractive as characters? Let ladies be beautiful (and they all are in Inquisition), they are fairer gender after all. I dont see why all guys should have conventional pretty faces. This is not JRPG after all.
Im a straight girl and i find most guys in Inquisition attractive, well funnily except Dorian, who is considered around here to be sexiest. He is a cool guy and i can see his appeal, but just not my type, a bit too groomed for my tastes. I prefer my men more rugged and bulky.
We already had one really pretty boy - Fenris. And while i love him to bits his appearance always bugged me: a stick-thin shoeless elf with white hair and a giant sword. Reminded me too much of Dante.
And we have not seen Cullen close so we dont know how he looks in the new engine. But i suppose he might fit the pretty boy description.

The beauty about Inquisition's characters is that they are all flawed - Solas' baldness, Sera's nose, Cassandra's jaw, Iron Bull's missing eye and face cut from rock, Cole's creepy skin and eyes, Vivienne's lips. They are all unique and these tiny bits make them real and alive. And thats for me the most beautiful part.

Inquisition is no beauty pageant, although honestly i believe all characters are attractive in their own ways and appeal to different people with different tastes.

I still dont understand how this can be a thread when Dorian, Blackwall and Cullen are in the game. I can understand the Iron Bull and Varric, even though I find them both very attractive as well.

Yeah, Dorian and Cullen are classically handsome guys.  While they might not be everyone's taste, it's hard to deny that they are good looking men.
