.....Do I need to add anything else?

This game is pulling a Bound By Flame on us, by making hot female characters and ugly male characters.

Um, Varric...ugly?  This is sarcasm right?  On Solas I agree a little, mostly because he's bald.  No hair doesn't do much for me.  Also, Vivienne's hair is ridiculous looking.  It's like romancing Maleficent.

That's a hat. Vivienne has a shaved head.

Well, ridiculous hat plus bald then when I already said bald doesn't do much for me.  Regardless, something crazy and off-putting is going on on the top of her head.

For those saying bald men aren't sexy, obviously aren't Star Trek Next Gen fans :P

I've said elsewhere I do like the 'look' of Solas, but I'm not sold until I find out if his personality is to my tastes.

Well, I always went for Data more than Pickard, but that's purely a personality thing.  He looks dopey and really personality is what matters.  I'll romance Solas in a heartbeat if his personality is good.

I take personality over looks anytime in a game like this.  A good VA always helps too!

Varric=fine dwarven crafts.

I'm surprised that people don't think Blackwall and Dorian are good looking. Dorian in particular seems very transitionally handsome. I think he looks a bit like a Disney Prince.

I'm with you on Solas though. It's not so much the lack of hair but I think he kind of looks creepy. Not creepy like Nosferatu but creepy like that guy who drives an unmarked van and stands a little too close at the super market.

Blackwall and Dorian are both very handsome especially Balckwall   Solas while he doesn't look bad persay there is something a little off putting about him that I can't put my finger on maybe I'll change my mind once I see a picture of him where he doesn't look greased up like a Tevinter slave like in Isabela's friend fiction.

Wow a lot of Blackwall love here! :D Is there a good screenshot of him I've missed somewhere? I don't think I've really seen his face properly, it's usually partially obscured by the helmet?

Dorian. DORIAN. DoRiAn.

My love for the man is mostly from the official art of him and some fan art (and that beard helps as well  ) the link in my sig has a wonderful strip with him in it and Dorian's in it too though he's more in the background but still well drawn and you can see him clearly.

Honestly, I'm having trouble labelling anyone as "sexy" at this point in time. I'm not into men, so let's set them aside. Sera is the one I find most attractive overall... but she's a lesbian, and as I'll be playing a male Inquisitor, it's a moot point. Vivienne looks okay, but the snippets of personality I've garnered from her paints the image of an ugly heart. As for Cassandra... well, she looks... odd.

cassandra-profile-260px.jpg

At one angle, her head looks extremely square. At another, her head looks almost thin. In both cases, her eyes feel disproportionately small. And that's not even getting into the whole scar department.

So to recap: Sera (moot), Vivienne (nope), and Cassandra (wut). Only other apparent option is "Scribbles" and my extent of knowledge about her is equivalent to her fan nickname.

Right now, I have not decided upon an LI by looks. Actually haven't in previous titles either. I wait to see if I like their character, though some of my PCs were extremely limited in choices.

Varric is awesome cause hes funny. Cassandra is awesome cause of her drive. The others...no idea yet as I dont know them. I will learn more shortly but still waiting. So saying the women are sexier....if you think they are. Then sure. To me, they are alright in appearance, dont really care. I loved the qunari mage femquisitor that was shown. Cause she moved the way she should be, she is powerful in appearance and looks to take no stand for bs. Again, I ended up viewing an opinion away from her looks there.

huh, this topic is about personality or looks? cuz we have no info on their personalities... well almost no info. BW said they want to find something unique in each char and show it in the design, not aiming at generic prettiness.

and it seems, they've managed to do just that, kudos. from what the majority of ppl here are saying - there are no aesthetically pleasing companions at all

just the interesting ones.

that's fair and pretty sound reason for RP purposes... assuming every inquisitor finds something interesting in at least three of them. it's really too soon to tell.

Luckily it seems there is someone for everyones taste. Personally I love the way Cassandra looks (and sounds). Sera I'm more meh with and as for Vivienne, I just can't get over what I view as way too big lips proportionately for her face. So someone for everyone it seems, which is good

Oh I don't know about that I'd say Vivenne and Blackwall are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. And who says that they can't look both aesthetically pleasing and interesting at the same time? ;)

hell, i'd do Viv, that sassy mage she is

personal tastes are personal, that said - imho Beardy is very interesting, but not hot at all - this could change after 5 secs of dialogue, tho.

anyway, people are whining about Solas being bald or Sera's hair or Cass' square jaw, so I'd assume, followers aren't very attractive to most. don't get me wrong, i really like the idea.

You mean, to those whining about something. Which is what, ten people? And most just don't bother to argue. If I had any sense I wouldn't, too. )) The thing is, you just can't please everyone. There always gonna be someone who doesn't like something and stirs up a drama about it.

hey, maybe ten people are whining, but i'll bet more than that think 'yeah... that guy could use a wig. but hey, i bet BW has given him awesome personality, they usually do'

Edit:

sort of... when you finally meet them in game, the personality and the looks click, making that certain NPC almost a living being (and any mod, adding hair or other minor feature, feels inappropriate)

or maybe it's just me?

Actually, it's hard to know how Cassandra will be exactly in game cause in every picture she has different features. In one she has very wide chin, in other she doesn't. Also her hair in some seem wet due to sweat while in others seems like that's her haircut. Her concept art in blogs etc depicts her as elegant, but most trailers show her as blunt and angry.

Isabela was like that too. In most trailers her head was like a balloon, very unnatural.

Off topic but just wanted to put this out. I tend to prefer the ones who make reasonable arguments against elements in the game and genuinely wish for it's betterment, than the ones who only know to gawk at the screen and drool over new content while blindly defending the companies and serving up money for the game regardless of it's condition. These are also the ones who feel entitled enough to name the others "whiners" for their criticisms. Better a whiner than a sheep these days, if you ask me.

So yeah, it's alright to complain and criticize guys, as long as you have proper reasons for them and know your limits. Keeps the devs on their toes about their work. We don't want another DA 2 by becoming sheep and staying quiet like some here, do we?  ;)

I'm pretty sure there is someone attractive for everyone ^^ People tend to have different preferences as well. I like Cullen and Dorian's looks, they are quite traditionally handsome as well so that's boring from me XD In other hand Cassandra really is what I think as beatiful woman, short hair and strong, wow I want be like her.. and romance her with my male/female quizzy depending on who she is available :)

actually i believe that most of the fans have no idea what they want, just like to argue/complain because they are bored with anticipation. i know, i'm in that group ;)

some discussions are valid, true. 'i don't like this because that's just lame' ones - not really criticism (thus the word whinig). besides, i hope devs won't start listening to fans about new character design (personally, i trust they know about NPCs more than we do at this point). and i'm afraid something bad could happen, think chibi chars in dark fantasy setting...

anyway, my point is... this particular topic is about preferences, so we can criticise all we want. yay!
