Does anyone remember Regalyan D'Marcall, from Dawn of The Seeker?

So I've just remembered that movie Dawn of The Seeker that plays Cassandra's backround story, and Regalyan (in my opinion) was one of the better parts of the movie and he was pretty important, is there a possibility he'll make an appearance in DA:I?

I bet Cass and him had a lovechild, and she brings up the kid in a romance arc. :D

She'll probably mention it after you make love with her.
"Wow Cass, that was.. Great. Didn't realize seekers were so.. good at this"
"Well it wasn't my first time.. But it was the best"
"Bet the last one wasn't as handsome or strong as me"
"Indeed, he didn't have protection either. Speaking of which"

Doesnt he die in a book placed after that movie?

Nope. Not a peep about him since then.

I'm not sure whether it would be possible to bring him into Inquisition. DotS was not written by BioWare, and I don't know who owns the rights to the characters.

I wouldn't mind seeing him, though. I'm quite fond of him.

That would be complicated since Cassandra is a romance

You say that as if "complicated" were a bad thing!

Seriously, though, everyone has a past, and there's nothing to say that they were ever lovers in the first place. He seemed enamored of her, but she friend-zoned him almost immediately. So bringing him into the game would not create problems for an inquisitor who wanted to romance Cassandra.

I actually watched Dawn of the Seeker today and to me it seemed like she was totally into him and he was totally into her but idk.

I do. I would love a cameo so my Trevelyan could say, "hands off mage! She's mine!"

I'm not convinced there was any great passion on either side, to be honest. When they meet, Galyan is trying to convince her not to kill him on principle. I interpret his really blatant and amusingly inappropriate flirtation there as an attempt to defuse a potentially dangerous situation without resorting to violence. Later on, when he heals her, he's pretty much listening to her explain why she hates mages so much. His patience seems to win her over, but I don't think she has feelings for him at that point. He seems to enjoy the kiss he gets at the end, but it didn't strike me as anything more than friendship.

It was probably supposed to look as if there was a romance subplot. It's a common feature of the genre.

But DotS was set in 9:22 Dragon, 18 years before Inquisition, and Cassandra is still a Seeker, and Galyan is still a Circle mage. Even if they were romantically involved at some point (in my headcanon and fanfic, they were, but that isn't anything more than idle speculation on my part), that's a long time to maintain a long-distance relationship. Any romance between them - if it existed at all - would have been over long ago.

And, as stated elsewhere, Cassandra is an LI. Some players might enjoy having a rival for Cassandra's affection, but I don't think Galyan poses enough of a threat to be taken seriously.

This so much. I liked him a lot in the movie and I thought he and Cassandra were going to have a thing. I want to find out about what happens to them. Since Cassandra is a romance option I guess either he died or they broke up. I could see him maybe leaving her to join the other mages in the war.... but idk. Kind of sad about this. I need closure about their relationship :[

When they announced that Vivienne would be the pro-Circle mage, I was quite disappointed, because I was hoping that Galyan would get that job, but it was not to be. Which might have worked out for the best, as it has inspired me to learn DA modding. BioWare may not want to use him, but that doesn't mean he can't have a major role in a stand-alone adventure mod.

I liked Regalyan and would like to see him again/would like Cassandra to reconnect with him if the Inquisitor doesn't pursue her. :)

I fully expect the events of Dawn of the Seeker to be at least referenced in codex entries and by Cassandra, so I'd very much enjoy hearing a mention about Regalyan.

I wouldn't think that we'll actually meet him, but it'd be a very welcome cameo.

As for him and Cassandra...not seeing it. Like at all. Don't know why some do.

i thought he liked her, but i don't think she likes men, or women.  at least not yet.  she seems like some one who is always about the job at hand, and didn't notice potential mates until they moved on.

they should probably mention the girl who could control dragons.  that may explain the dragon tamer art from last year

Yeah, that is a plot point that should be taken care of. I mean, you have a dragon plague and a dragon tamer. The solution for the first problem should be pretty obvious.

But there's a very good way to take care of loose ends. The "They died in the Breach explosion" card. I'd prefer that over making poor, nice Regalyan into a mad blood mage or something like that.

I would love to meet him in Inquisition. He seemed like a fun guy.

Don't really care about what he and Cass (might) had. Its in the past anyways. If they do talk about that though, then I don't want Regalyan to be some stalkerish ex boyfriend that could never move on.

I liked him too. One of the sane mages.

We don't see much of those.

But the movie wasn't bad at all, it was like watching Cassandra's history instead of reading it. So it was relevant and concise, quite admissible. I liked it.

Is this the movie where it's all set in an alternate universe made by the Japanese where mages didn't have magic so they used fire crackers to fight, where golems had no blood in them but were controlled by blood magic anyway? Where Cassandra actually had a decent face and would actually kiss a guy than kill him? Is that the movie we're talking about?

Well then, yeah, I do remember him.
