Has information on the actual number of endings been released? I didn't think they'd outright state a number.

I should probably stay out of this forum, I don't want something major to get spoiled for me.

Based on the stories from the books, I'm going out on a limb to predict this:
At the end of the game, you will have the option to absolutely SKEWER some quasi-antagonist, while Loghain looks on and either encourages you, or protests.
Now that I think about it, it's about time he was on the other end of the shish kabob for once.

I'm curious how many spoilers will come out before game? I've done a lot of looking into the game and so far no reals spoilers.

I would guss the endings have some differences depending on your background. So you could presumably count those as "different endings".
Multiply that by your standard good/evil choice and number of romance possibilities, and you've got a fairly decent guess at the total number of playthroughs you'll need if you want to utterly exhaust the possible endings.

There could well be over two dozen different endings depending on what governs them. For example an ending for each origin would obviously amount to 6. If your current romance affects the outcome, then the amount of possible endings would increase exponentially.

they say there are many variations
as in this little choice with a mom and a kid
depending on your actions
they may end up part of the ending
they may say something to you
you take this guys bottle of wine and he never delivers it
instead of a delivery boy he is a slave of the person he was suppose to deliver it to
and he will be pissed off about
or something like that
smalls stuff as well as big stuff changes your ending
but that means some of your endings will have some of the same stuff
so dont expect completely different endings

I am assuming that this game will have at least one sequel... which kinda restricts how many different endings you can have, or at least, how different they can be.
Look at the hoops the Morrowind devs had to jump through in order to accommodate the six radically different endings from Daggerfall, which left the whole world in six completely different states
(Luckily only a tiny minority of Daggerfall players actually MADE it to the end; I wasn't one of em!)

Not necessarily. KOTOR had two radically different endings and, ultimately, they went with the Light Side ending as the canon one.
Dragon Age 2 could also take place in a different part of the world so that the ending variations won't have that large of an effect.

Firstly, go play Kotor 2, they went with dark side ending. That's why Revan left and was ruling Sith. Lol.
Secondly, Dragon Age 2 will probably take place in another region so the major aspect of the ending will be npc choices, and how you handle certain things. Probably something similiar to council decision in ME 1.
That said, if DA 2 takes another 5-7 years to make, I think I'll just wait on the expansions lol.

If you mean in game, yes - it goes with Reven being Dark Side and female if you don't "correct" Atton when you meet him. However, that's not the canon ending, just what the devs did in KOTOR2 as the default setting if you didn't want to specify Reven's alignment and gender. In the Star Wars expanded universe canon, they went with the male Reven, Light Side ending.Polemists05 wrote...

Nah, won´t take them that long, since most technical stuff is done like the engine and toolsets. But 2-4 years is a possible estimate.Polemists05 wrote...

My guess is after DA:O your Party gets cast out of Ferelden or something, so you might be able to play them again in DA2. Wishful thinking

I would think that there would be an good/bad/really bad ending for each character Origin. So that's what 18 or so?
Note I say really good bad and really bad because In a morally gray world There is the good (end the blight) the Bad (stop this blight but it doesn't finish them off for good) and a joining maybe becoming their master or some sort.
