That said, on the specific topic of an in-game asexual romance, the best way, in my opinion, is to allow the PC to complete a romance without sex. That way you can play an asexual character and have the LI acknowledge it, the issue is a bit different than gay options because then in order to have an homosexual PC, you need a NPC open for s/s romance, otherwise it's more on your headcannon than ackwoledged by the game.

 

Furthermore, making a LI asexual, may cause tangential complains "he/she isn't my preferred gender", "the other sides have X bangable LIs, we only have X-1", etc....what I'd do if I had my word in this is make sex an option (and specificaly give the option to say that you're not into it) and then have a non-Li NPC/companion in an asexual relationship for extra representation.

From great deal of posts, it seems quite clear that asexual LI would make some players plain confused...

 

Isn't that what was asked in OP? An asexual LI? Since in DA:O you could have asexual romance by not having sex with your love interest (don't know if it works with all characters) and in DA2 that choice was Sebastian with his chaste marriage.

 

And due to my liking Girls With Slingshots- webcomic, I think I have a good understanding what is an asexual character.

Sebastian was not a good option for those looking to roleplay as an asexual.  All of his Act 2 heart options were undeniably sexual in nature. But in DAO, you could go through the romance without ever having sex, which I greatly appreciated.

 

The whole confusion about asexuality is one reason why I think it's not very likely we'll see an Asexual LI in a game for quite some time, which is personally depressing. More likely to happen first is the ability to explicitly roleplay as an asexual. Even more likely is the being able to pretend your character is asexual without having a way to actually state that beyond saying, "I don't want to have sex now/in this place."

If there is to be asexual romance then there should also be cuckold romance. Cuckolds feel just as much love for their partners as anyone else.
