a shooter has a story too.^^

For me it's like missing half of the game. Or to describe it better for you it's like a RPG without story. It's as important for me as the Story. It's my motivation to play a RPG more than one time.

Hah, I'll say what I've said many times before.

Role Playing Games are about Role Playing, creating a character and guiding him through the well-written story. Character development is secondary at best.

ok so when the next COD had a char creating tool and a story where you could give some answers it would be a RPG for you? ^^

Maybe it's not an important part for you but for me it's the only motivation to play through it a second time when i know the story

yea remember those rpgs where you had skills and had to put thought in your character development old games like Dragon Age ^^.
It's a funny video but i'am still sad that they removed a vital part of every rpg i don't want to play a shooter with a dialogue system.

You need to cut your mushroom usage... last i checked main character and all the companions have skills that player must develop (you can see it in all the class reveal videos and other gameplay videos)!

On the topic... fuuny video, especially RPG part (take that, haters)!

each class has 5 or 6 skills thats nothing. System shock or Bioshock (both shooters) had more skills.

I can understand that they removed a lot of the skills for the soldier class i also understand that a lot of people thought it was stupid to put points on a weapontype to actually hit something. But a Biotic-expert with 5 skills? I can't be the only one who things that this is poor.

And no armors or Weapons? I really don't understand that descision

Xeper84, even during tabletop RPG, I dont care about character devlopment. It does not interests me. And if CoD would come with char creation, extensive storyline, a lot of dialouge and choices, party etc., it would be an RPG.

No, you are thinking of adventure games. Like King's Quest.

RGPs are about the character. The skills and stats of the character matter in RPGs.

Of course the RPG haters are saying fewer skills are better and weapon skills are stupid and that the actual character's skills shouldn't matter in an RPG. Soldier and infiltrator should be equlally good at bypassing security measures......

Depends how you count... for every skill you have 2 evolved versions (thats allmost like every skill counts as 3 slightly different skills)... on top of that you get bonus skills during the game.

I dunno. I see what you mean, but DeusEx was a good game too.

I mean, if ME2 will be more like DeusEx, I won't complain.

Off course, we won't know for sure before the game's released.

Also, to whomever, it's No Mutants Allowed, and seriously, they tended to keep to themselves, in my experience.

if ME2 was the first game of the series i wouldn't complain. Maybe the stuff they changed is good for a lot of people but for me it's two steps back. I certainly would complain if it would be like deus ex why? Because it's ME! I would also complain if BG3 would become a hack'n slay. Why? because I'am a fan of those games.

Haha Grim Terminus Alliance. And to the UK guy who asked to define football, yes yes we know, you guys have real football(where the foot is actually in contact with the ball most of the time) But American football has better cheerleaders ;)

The RPG snobs are unreal. They're lost in game mechanics and not the purpose of playing a role - hint: it isn't just to get more loot and add Super Insane Double Secret Probation Meg Smush Attack VIII. Shep was easily on the most most fully realized and nuanced characters I've played. He made far more meaningful decisions than my BG2 character ever did (all hail BG2 and never speak ill). Plus, my fighter in BG2 had what, less than 10 skills to choose from and his attributes never changed. I guess that makes it not really an RPG either.

I love this.  "Hater = Even though I haven't played the game myself, a hater is anyone who doesn't agree with me 100% about how awesome I am entirely certain the game will be.  And, because I happened to find some humor within a snippet of the game, I'm going to interpret it as at the expense of the Haters that I hate and be 100% certain it's because Bioware agrees with me, rather than simply an observation on the general stupidity exhibited by some gamers in general, which, by extension, most certainly could not possibly include me."

It's as stupid as saying, "FPSer Moron = Anyone who is the slightest bit in favor of the improvements to combat must, inevitability, be a brainless HALO/GoW/MW2-playing idiot who doesn't have a scintilla of the intelligence God gave the common dog, and this is why the FPSer Moron will never be able to appreciate good story and character development."

I love simple-minded dichotomies.  They make the world so much easier to understand.  Kudos to those who can see beyond a world of black and white.  Everyone else... you deserve each other.  /rant off

Nice rock you got there. It seems to have totally smashed your brains as well.
Ok firstly the classes in ME1 had 7-8 skills TOPS. And you couldn't max them. The way I did it was get everything to level 2 and get my weapon of choice maxed out. In ME2 you can max out and EVOLVE your skills. Your point about the biotic expert is null. In ME1 It took about 40seconds(This is an estimate that I am pretty much taking out my ass, but it should be pretty close.) to recharge your skills. Basically you would use them and then have to rely on your pistol or team to finish everything off. Here you can continuously use those skills and really be a "biotic-expert".
And then your final comment totally flabergasts me. No armor or weapons? Have you even looked at the game info section of the site? Weapon blueprints can be found through out the game and I assume upgraded. Armor is totally customizable and you can mix and match it for your own personal bonsuses. How does that translate to no armor and weapons?
If after all that you still think that ME2 is missing RPG elements then you should just not play the game or alternatively rent it first.

Yeah, those people deserve to be made fun of.

80 pages is nothing. D&D 4E (which is in a lot of cases LIGHTER than older editions) has 3 200-300 page books. :)

For the record, folks who insist tons of skills = better RPG? There are RPGs with NO SKILLS. RPGs that have won /awards/. Look at some of Evil Hat's games, like Don't Rest Your Head. Or Trollbabe, which also won awards.

The RPG genre is far, far broader than you seem to think.

Guys its obviously just a joke. That isn't an actual dialog in the game. Notice how the Salarian's mouth rarely opens

I'll be sad if that's the case. :)  They did a good job if it's a joke-hack.
