So, this is the place for all news and announcements, guesswork, not to mention hopes and dreams. Please warn of major spoilers when posting.

So, the game is more than 50% made and we get this tidbit out of E3? I'm a bit disappointed that there wasn't more to the announcement. Perhaps because I just feel it was so little and insignificant that it didn't really deserve a spot at E3. ~shrugs~ Thoughts anyone? It may be a refreshing change of pace, but we all knew Shepard was never coming back.

Well, the teaser trailer (it's meant to tease ^.^ as far as I know: tease = to not satisfy a demand) at least contains a krogan. Wow. And N7 armor. So I'm betting on another Marine from the Systems Alliance. What else can you see from the teaser trailer? Planets? Setting?

I guess that anything else will be announced at PAX (whichever). BioWare often announces important things at PAX. Or do they choose games.com this year for announcing the new ME? After all, EA was one of the main reasons why games.com/Games Convention moved from Leipzig to Cologne. So I'd appreciate some big news there. On the other hand, I would kick myself for any announcement in Cologne when I'm not there.

In response to the teaser:

Though they didn't say it, it almost sounds like they're going for an 'open world' feel...maybe similar to something like ES: Skyrim. However, this may conflict with the ideas of multiple worlds, and the fact that they already moved away from ME1's take on this.

Either/or, I cringed when they said they were 'listening to the fans' - I firmly believe them listening to the fans was their biggest mistake and what screwed up the originally trilogy so much...and yes I realize how hypocritical that sounds. How hard is it to just make a unique game by yourselves and not mind if it every single person doesn't accept it? A small, centralized, devout fan-base can be a nice reference if used properly, but (for example) listening to the opinions of FPS and RTS gamers concerning RPG elements is just beyond simple stupidity.

Aiming for the mass market with over a million players is the only way the expensive developement of a game can be justified today.

I am good with games without voice-over or not so brilliant graphics. A game that thrills you because of its setting, story and characters. But most have become spoiled. Awesome graphics, no reading neccessary... oh yes, female and male main characters, tons of romance options. That's why "Papers, Please" intrigues me so much. Fixed setting, you are only able to act within boundaries. Still, your very limited actions can have many many effects. (Mass Effect 3: thousand variables, four endings... - Dragon Age 2: hundred variables, two endings) And PP has the ugliest graphics ever ^.^ - at least, it has the ugliest in my games library.

The main thing that makes me angry about "we listen to the fans" is this: hundreds of fans keep on mentioning that there still are dozens of bugs and glitches. Still no one does something about it. They simply move on. To the next game where they can listen to "fans" a.k.a. the thousands of people that want to see game characters have sex yet hate role-playing games (simplyfying it here) and make some more serious money.

I am playing Mass Effect 3 for the fifth time, the second time after the last patch and I still notice bugs. Man, that's not what I expect from BioWare. Gimme some mo' love 'ere. Back then, BioWare's earlier work made me buy Mass Effect (1) BLINDLY.

I don't see this for Mass Effect (4). I'm still excited about the new IP. And patiently waiting for more news. And for new footage of Mr. Hudson's hair.

My two cents.

Listening to the fans, eh? Which fans would those be? The whiny gamer fanbase (made up of hundreds of thousands of adult lied to, insulted former diehard fan's) or the ones that love their work regardless of what they put out, blindly accepting it as the best there is (I've always imagined these fellows to be of a faction similar to the Microsoft Xbots and the Sony Fanboys).

Inquiring minds want to know!

Personally, they listen to weird groups and romance obsessed people the most (thankfully they actually had found the sense for the first time ever to say NO to the group that wanted to romance Bethany in DA2). Logic and good sense means nothing to those people!

So let me get the facts from the Comic Con presentation:

- the Mako is very sleek and moveable and a comment hints at it being able to jump and hover (probably via upgrade?) - definite future

- I would love to see how it handles Eletania (my worst world - I had to be collected by Joker three times)

- there is a pipe or something in the front of the Mako, perhaps the searchlights - the concept art is not visible in full detail; it also could be a port for a weapon or a thruster

- Shepard is not an essential character - for me, that means she's/he's possibly in there somewhere, or there is some reference to what she/he did (if not, that's okay, too)

- exploration is important - Dark Space (?), the area behind the Perseus Veil and the Terminus Systems all are unexplored (or uncharted)

- the N7 program still exists

It's most likely that the game will be set in a time where Mass Effect 3 is the past.

I quit the trailer after the first question because the reaction of the woman who asked was a bit embarassing. After the Mako it should have been clear that we are not talking about First Contact or anything pre-Catalyst. The M35 Mako was bulky, the new Mako is not. Or if the Mako only was bulky because of the engine, I would love to see the Grizzly, the Hammerhead and the Kodiak in Frostbite engine. The Joke with Vega and the Grizzy wouldn't fit anymore if the Grizzly was less bulky. ;)

Anything important after that first question? Should I watch the presentation to the end?

No, I'm not superficial. Only afraid that they screw up the game. And afraid that the questions basically are the same.
