hello

I believed I should just modify the " RADIUS_SIZE_COLOSSAL" to "RADIUS_SIZE_MEDIUM" within the spell scripts, but I noticed no change.

Am I doing something wrong?

Your modified script isn't going to change the radius of a visual effect; just the creatures targeted. If you want a smaller visual effect, you'll need to use a modified .sef file.

edit the sef in the special effects editor available in the toolset - not in a text file :)

Okay then, it looks like you might need to look at the pfx files. Personally I'd try editing it with the Visual Effects editor.

oh, thank you!

but I have several pfx files

sp_fireball_aoe_fx1.pfx, sp_fireball_aoe_fx2.pfx, sp_fireball_fx1.pfx....

perhaps i have to edit the EmissionRadius value, but which file to pick?

There's a way to play the effect in the editor, I believe. Experiment.

Orr just check for an existing visual effect of the size you want. ;)

Not sure about the one you want, but there might be.

I'd like that all the spell of each level had the same area of effect

Level 1-2 Medium

3 - 4 Large

5 -6 Huge

7 - 8 Gargantuan

9 Colossal

so apparently I have to modify each file

Am i misunderstanding... or you actually saying you would like every AoE spell to have the same AoE?  You know you have to change every spell script as well?  But... why?

ok, I am toying with these files, but maybe I put them in the wrong folder. Are they supposed to be somewhere else than the mydocs/nwn2/override folder?

I am interested also in having the control of the area shown before casting a spell but I didn't find anything in these pfx files that could change their size. :?

every AoE spell to have the same AoE?

yes, within the same level. For balancing reason. the higher the spell level, the higher the area of effect.

.pfx vfx size is controlled by the beginning size and ending size properties when you open the pfx in the visual effect editor. Billboard vfx are the same.

I wrote a pfx tutorial, its on the vault/nexus/vault 2.0. I suggest taking a look, it will help you.

The targeting circles are defined by

Spells.2da > TargetingUI

which refers to a row in

Spelltarget.2da

which gives the diameter of the circle, not to be confused with the spellscripts that rather use radius ...

- which then ought accurately represent the spell description in Dialog.Tlk or the other way around,

gaah / but that's how targeting circles, as well as cones & rectangles, go

hello, perhaps I don't have to work with effect themselves.

I noticed that the real effect is smaller than the area of effect.

Look at the Greater Fireburst (5 level sorcerers)

left is how i resized the area of effect(I changed both TargetUi and Script), middle the effect itself, right the original area of effect. I think I can be satisfied with the result.
