I have a MBP 2011 with a 1gb AMD 6750M.

I normally run games in bootcamp, but I haven't installed anything newer than Witcher 2 which runs ok on medium settings.  Not worried about the CPU/Ram but I'm concerned this graphics card won't be able to handle the newer generation of games.  Might have to finally build a PC but in that case I'll probably be waiting until 2015 to play.

The catch with Dragon Age: Inquisition is that it will be released on the older hardware so there will be the ability at least on the consoles to scale everything way down to run on the older hardware. If you can run the Witcher 2 I think you will be okay, but you will have to be running on low/medium settings.  Of course I am purely guessing until the hardware lists are released.

Will it really require Windows 7 or higher?  I have Vista and have not come across that restriction in any other games.  But, the newest games that I have installed are already over a year old (Tomb Raider and Defiance).

I think the reason why it says Windows 7 is that Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP, but in the future games might be designed to make use of 64-bit operating systems and Windows XP 64-bit never worked well from my experience.

yes but Vista 64 is fine.

The requirement doesn't mean that if you aren't using Windows 7 or Windows 8 the game won't work, it means that they can't guarantee the game will work on those older operating systems. Vista is another pile of issues upon itself and with how it handles the UAC games might not even install properly on it, for I had that issue when it first came out with it defaulting installation to the wrong place.

Okay, I hate to be so uneducated about specs, but my friend built my computer for me and I'm wondering if any of you fine people could give me an idea if I'll be okay or not. I usually play on my PS3, but I'm undecided if I'm going to buy a next-gen system or just use my PC. (I'm not even sure what information I need to give you guys!)

Processor: Intel ® Core ™ i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.40 GHz (It looks like I have 4 of these)

RAM: 8.00 GB

System Type: 64-bit Operating System Windows 7

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti

I think you'll get at least medium setting, and depending on the actual system requirements possibly play smoothly on high settings or even high-ultra. Your GPU is not a slouch, your CPU is of years past but can still hold it's own.

I assume if you can run BF4 and/or NFSR than you shouldn't have problems running DAI.

At the moment the only system requirements is Windows 7 or higher lol,it will be updated.

Wow my laptop actually has minimum requirements for BF4. Hurray

I have a dual core Pentium, 4GB ram and a NVidia 8400GS 512MB (which I may have to upgrade). My system is only 32 bit though.

That is an aging system by today's standards.  You would have gotten away with games designed to run on the 360 and PS3 but the next gen consoles are allowing developers to push the envelope once again.  If I were you, I would look at upgrading.  You need, at least, a better graphics card.

With that spec I think you would be fine since IMO is over recommended specs.

I predict that Dragon Age: Inquisition will have similar system requirements as Battlefield 4 but will demand less of the CPU. That is, if the game supports Mantle.

System Requirements Lab has always been unreliable. It's possible that it improved over the years, but I would still advise caution.

The biggest flaw is that it looked at features of the GPU while ignoring the actual clock speed. So back in the day, if a game required a Geforce 8600 GT and you had a 9400 GT, it said you passed the minimum requirement because you had the right amount of RAM and the correct pixel shaders, but it did not take into account that the 9400 GT is actually a fair bit slower than the 8600 GT.

So for those who want to use SRL, make sure you always compare your GPU to the required GPU on the hierarchy chart: http://www.tomshardw...iew,3107-7.html

I really don't. I assumed I'd get fairly decent Mid level, I've never had a good computer in my life so I'm not sure how good or bad my selections would be. I'm paying $2300 so I was only hoping that it would be good enough to last me a fair while.

Seems fairly solid to me. Albeit that I ain't the most tech savvy person.

I just hope the minimal requirements are low enough for my laptop. I don't care if the game looks like crap, as long as it is playable. :(

The problem with Mantle from the way I understand on how it works is if you have a good CPU the benefits won't be nearly as good as if you had a lower end CPU. For the way I understand how it works is that it will offload some of the CPU's duties to the video card, so if you don't need to offload that many calculations you won't make much use of Mantle.  At the end of the day it might lower the minimum spec a little, but the suggested level of hardware might remain unchanged.

You will be fine, more than fine actually. 2 Questions: What were you planning to use for CPU cooling? & What is the resolution of the monitor you will be using?

For the sake of future proofing (and honestly, just to be on the safe side), I always go overkill on the PSU. I'd suggest going with an 850w as opposed to the 750w.

I am certain you'll be getting at least high and you'll more than likely be able to run it smoothly at ultra. That is a solid rig.
