Talk about overkill. You going to try running Star Citizen on dual 4K monitors or something?

Official word (as of 15 May 2014):

"What are the PC system requirements for Dragon Age: Inquisition?
Final system requirements have yet to be released for the game. Look for those in future updates."

Personal attitude:

I just ordered a brand-new Digital Storm Slade  (i7, 16GB RAM, nVidia GTX 770) to play this game.  I'll be fine.

Now that the game has gone alpha they really should have the specs completely hammered out.

Probbly won't know till couple of months before release when it hits beta and they start releasing harder info, but not expecting to much of an high end spec probbly close to battleflied or a little less due to it coming out on 360 and ps 3.

I might run 2K though a 4K isn't much more expensive at least at the budget end (£400-£600) Currently averages 45FPS on Star Citizen with the single R9 290 though as its pre alpha the mantle support and optimisation is yet to be done.Mainly its all so I wont have to upgrade for 3years or so barring any component failures.I'm waiting to see how intels devils canyon performs if its a massive performance boost over my current i5 i may upgrade though there is no rush to do so

Screw that. 4K gaming is still not economically achievable. That said, since you obviously have more money to spend than most, I dare say you'd go much, much, MUCH better with WQHD gaming than 4K.

That being said, take a look at Asus' upcoming baby: the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q

2560x1440p  27 inch WQHD

144Hz frame refreshrate

1ms GtG response time

Nvidia G-sync (well, not technically important to you, but still)

Price tag set for 799 bucks, which is pretty much the same as any of the decent cheap 4K displays, but the stark difference is you'll have the power to actually drive this baby with decent graphics!

According to www.systemrequirementslab.com, my system meets the *minimum* requirements for Battlefield 4 but not the recommended settings (so no ultra high apparently).

-Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz

-8 GB of RAM

-64 bit Windows 7

-NVIDEA GeForce GTX 770M

I've read that site isn't always accurate, though *shrugs*

Should run the game without much problem. The reason it said it doesn't meet the requirements is because your mobile CPU clock speeds are very low compared to desktop CPUs, but it's still a good CPU.

What component do they consider below the recommended system requirements? I guess we could say the GPU is below the recommended spec because it's a mobile GPU, but other than that, it's fine. My PC is below the recommended requirement (Phenom II x4 965 BE and Radeon R9 270X) and I can run most of BF4 on the ultra preset at 1920x1080, usually with 60 fps, when enabling the Mantle API. It's only the big multiplayer maps that cause serious issues, but those are more CPU heavy than I expect Dragon Age Inquisition to be.

In any case, as I say quite often when the website is brought up, System Requirements Lab is very unreliable and it's safer to just compare the required hardware with what you have using the hierarchy chart: http://www.tomshardw...iew,3107-7.html

It says my video card and OS are both below the system requirements.  I'd pass on Windows 8 (not a fan of the interface), and the video card it recommends is a 3GB AMD Radeon HD 7870 / NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 or better.

And thank you, I'll use that site from now on.  I'm relatively new to PC gaming, so I'm still learning.

Just don't listen to whatever Systemrequirements Lab says, that thing is garbage. I don't know why so many people recommend it (best guess is they have no idea about this sort of thing themselves).

The GTX 770M is basically just a slower clocked GTX 660.

It probably won't run DAI in all its glory depending on how much graphics the devs squeezed out of the Frostbite 3 engine, but it will run the game on medium settings for sure I'd guess.

Besides, there is no such thing as a 3GB VRAM HD 7870, that's just a literal translation of the recommended VRAM amount (3GB) which is calculated on the basis that people play the game at resolutions higher than 1080p/1200p (meaning 1440p resolution mostly), which would also rather use a R9 280X (HD 7970) or GTX 780, both of which comes with 3GB VRAM.

The people who say Bf4 recommends a HD 7870/R9 270X/GTX 660 with 3GB VRAM are stupid people who just put 1+1 and say it equals 3.

Ok, thanks for explaining that to me.  I just copy/pasted the recommended settings (since half of it is still gibberish to me >.<).  I'm grateful that I had someone to help me pick out the different components for this laptop.  He knew what he was doing, whereas I did not D:

My laptop is pretty much the same as yours (I have Windows 8.1) and I can run Bioshock Infinite on Ultra with no problems. DAI on High should run fine as well. You can also check out this page to see how your GPU handles different games (NVIDIA GTX 770M is #35).

That's actually one of the monitors that I'm looking at even though G-sync won't be any use to me as you have said and the way prices are right now 2K looks about the best bet

I've decided to upgrade to a GTX 660 as the new graphics card for my PC.

At the very least, I should be able to play on Normal graphics at 1080p quite comfortably.

Depending on where you are shopping, I'd also take a closer look at the R9 270X (not to be confused with the R9 270 !!!). Everywhere I've looked so far, it's only around ten, maybe twenty bucks more expensive than a GTX 660, but is also a slightly more powerful GPU.

So depending on how cheap you can get either type of GPU, I'd take a closer look at the competitiion. AMD usually offers very good value in the midrange segment, which is where you're looking at.

I've admittedly been told that the R9 270X would be a better choice, but I've also guiltily have had bad experiences with AMD cards before. My first real gaming PC had an AMD graphics card. It fried in less then six months and took the motherboard with it. That was admittedly years ago, but I'm wary to say the least.

My baby I have now is pretty alright now though.

Intel® Core™ i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
16GB RAM
64-bit Windows 7 System
GeForce GTS 450

She could play any game comfortably at normal to high graphics at 1080p until AC3 and AC4 came out, then she started struggling. At first I thought she just needed a new graphics card, but now I've been told her PSU is a piece of cheap crap from a company that's never been heard of and is liable to explode on me at 380W.

That's going to cost at least $300 AUD to replace both by the sound of things. Not exactly money a Uni student can throw around.

Hell, I'm only getting the Inquisitor's Edition (Which is $209 AUD for PC) because release date is so close to my birthday.

Ow, yeah. Bad PSU = bad problem.

Alternatively, you can also look up the GTX 760. It is again a couple more bucks-

... screw what I was just saying. Checked Mwave.com.au for GPU prices and saw you pay 240 bucks for a good GTX 660/R9 270X and close to 310 bucks for a good GTX 760.

My condolences.

I use Game Debate for system reqs, I meet/exceed recommended except for gpu. Nervous my system won't run the game well. Considering buying an XBone (so son can use) to play the game. What do y'all think?

@Tattia;

You should be fine.  The only limitation may be that if you run at the highest resolution and/or level of graphics detail you'll have some lag.

If that turns out to be the case, run with things dialed-back just a little and you should have no problem!  B)

(You'll still be having as-good-or-better graphics as on a console.   )

Eh. It's alright.

Worst comes to worst, I grit my teeth and bare it until my birthday, when I can ask my dad for help paying for a decent GPU and PSU.

Incidentally, can anyone suggest a good graphics card/PSU combo I could comfortably play newer games at higher settings on at 1080p?
