I'm having a hard time grasping why people who are against this continue to add to the thread. I think one post is sufficient enough to show your displeasure. you just add to the clutter that you love to complain about. It seems many of you are just here simply to disrupt. relax, its just a forum. It's slowed down, let them have their thread.

I'll throw in my support. Although not gay myself, I wouldn't mind seeing abit more diversity in the video game culture. Its getting there, but still needs quite a bit more support.

It's funny, because if some random soccer mom went into this forum to check what the game she just pre-ordered for little jimmy on a recommendation from a gamestop clerk was all about, she'd get an awkward impression.

There are like 5 threads on the front page about gay romances right now. >_>

Frankly, those that say "threads aint gonna do nothing" didn't pay attention to what Bioware did with ME2.

They looked at very common repeat threads, analyzed their complaints, duly noted them, and made changes in ME2.

Saying that continually pestering with threads like this, like a fly landing on a horses ass, wont get the attention of Bioware is just incorrect.

Whether that attention is sympathy, apathy, or hostility I cannot say.

No, they paid attention to the first thread('s title).

Write it on a notepad.

"GAY ROMANCES(?) Bring up at next meeting".

It's not like they keep going back and reading through these threads word for word when they know what it's going to say. "We want same-sex romances".

I hope that these threads are a sign to BioWare that there is demand for this. I also hope that negative posters don't turn them off the idea.

They need to stick a thread for this stuff.

IF the freakish and embarassing Tali furries didn't turn Bioware off, despite some despairing dev comments, I don't think these threads will.

Fun fact: The majority of furry haters are also homophobic (attaching some stigma of homosexuality to what is known as the 'furry fandom'.)

The fact that Tali and the Quarians as a whole is/are in no way indicated to at all resemble an anthropomorphic animal (which would render the 'furry' bit pointless) is moot. You still harbor a clear 'hatred' (is it hatred? Or perhaps just intolerance of others' views?) of 'furries', and you saw fit to post in a thread about homosexual romances with what seems to be a suggestion that you consider supporters of the OP's point to be as much of deviants as the 'Tali furries'.

TL;DR, you're very clearly a homophobic person. Don't suppose you're religious?

Hostile spotted. OP report him.

Well, can't be as bad as her seeing the 'Miranda funbags' thread I saw earlier this week.

Yes, report me.

Nevermind the guy lumping same-sex supporters in the same boat as his sheer hatred for 'furries'.

Reporting people on these forums does nothing. It sends a generic report to some random person at EA who may or may not be inclined to do anything. Also; what are you going to report it as? Child Soliciting? Terroist Threat?

Threads like this are why people hate those who try to shove thier own ideals down peoples throats. Maybe black people should complain how there isn't enough racial representation in this game. Maybe dogs should speak up and say that sending them in as fodder to die at the start of a battle is bad. The way I see it, the fact that this is such a controversial thing, be happy that there are gay/bi options in the game to begin with. Fact is, Bioware is a company, and as a company needing to make profit to pay for their expenses, they need to appeal to the majority. If they make the game overwhelmingly homosexual, it will no doubtingly push away many people. No one will be happy with politics in a game, so my suggestion is to just take what you got and not feel the need to spurt your ideas, because nothing, neither in cyberspace, nor in real life will ever go completely your way.

One, where are these supposed gay/bi options?  We got Liara in ME1 for femsheps only by the way, m/m got shafted in totality.

Also, DA:O sold like hotcakes and a month before it's release a website had popped up showing the PC and zevvy getting it on in a fairly controversial picture of gay romance, that topic was all over the internet... yet, it was still a massive seller...

I'm getting really tired of that excuse being trotted out again and again that the majority won't buy a game if there's an option for something they're not gonna use in the first place.  Gamers buy what they think looks sweet, gay romance option or not...

I see reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. Unless of course you misread me on purpose, which judging from your leaps of logic could be entirely possible.

I am posting here supporting a homosexual option. If the embarassing Tali furries got one, I can't get why it isn't acceptable for MaleShep to shack up with Jacob, or FemShep with Miranda.

Get your political correctness out of my game. There's no gay option, you'll live. I'd rather Bioware develop content that appeals to everyone than to a small minority. If it's that big of an issue, don't play the game.

I'm sure the irony of this post is lost on you.

you want to keep something out of the game because it doesn't appeal to everyone. in other words, you want to be PC and make sure the 'moral majority' isn't offended. basically, you're doing exactly what you're crying at others for doing. acting like the PC Police.

I've been thinking, that the nixing of the homosexual romances might be for the same reason they are moving the Mass Effect trilogy towards being more of a shooter. Somebody somewhere made the decision that Bioware didn't need two RPG IPs, so Dragon Age stays as the nerdier RPG, while Mass Effect gets reinvented as the cooler mainstream shooter.

Perhaps they are attempting to make nice with the mainstream casual gamers by putting Shepard back in the closet?

Might as well buy a porno game.

But we want a "porno" game with content.

Seriously, though. It isn't always about the sex. It's about the character you created in a role playing game. People just want the option to even further tailor that character to their liking. Hetero example, I made a male Shepard that I decided has a big ol' crush on Tali. She wasn't an option in the first game (obviously) but I would have at least liked to have told her how I felt.

That being said, it would've been cool to be able to make a...sexually deviant...male Shep and tell Thane "You've got a purdy mouf."

Thing about it is most people don't care either way if there is a ****** romance or not. What most people do care about is how 5 topics about this popped up all at once.

bull**** it is. i can almost guarentee you that if bioware caved and put gay love in and there was GASP NO SEX SCENE people would be outraged. the kind of person that plays this game for the ''romances'' is the kind of person who gets off on animated sex scenes

Hey, guess what?
You want a gay romance? Get one in real life. I wouldn't have a problem with it in Mass Effect at all, but these threads are just... it's still too touchy of a subject and the amount of them is starting to grate on other people's nerves, even those who support it a bit. There was one post I remember, about how Commander Shepard never has true free will for what to do in the game. He has up to six options he can choose from, sure, but he could never refuse to send one of his squadmates with the Salarians of Virmire. He has to, no matter what. And you can't punch random people. Or get the Turian council member booted or have him be the only one killed (God, how I'd love to do that.).
So, there's a spectrum of choices Shepard can take, but they're still limited. Shepard's a straight one throughout it seems. But Mass Effect isn't a dating simulator. It's a sci-fi trilogy epic.
Or y'know, there's always the option of modding, if you're that desperate. It's a game, though. Seriously. I have never seen this much debate over a game. I guess that means BioWare did keep at least one promise for sure. Even before it's release ME2 is (oh, you saw this coming, and you know it) EMOTIONALLY ENGAGING.
Meh, I don't care either way, but you can always hope for ME3. I don't think BioWare's gonna take petitions for this kind of content too well though... it's their game, their story, and they know what they're doing with it.
Also, like the previous poster said-- even if there is gay romance, they might not put a sex scene or anything graphic in because the media would totally go after them about it. And then everyone would accuse BioWare of using it to spike interest in the game and might lose possible customers for "scandalous" promotion.
So if they don't include graphic content, you'd end up pissed anyways. It's gonna be years before there's accepted homosexual content in mainstream media (excluding Adam Lambert).
But like I said before. Mass Effect. It's not a dating sim.
It's an RPG.

I'd actually be totally pleased if Samara was a "talk it out" option for femsheps, would make it more unique as well, they could deepen the convo further than maybe the others instead.

Actually, as I posted in another thread, I think the "intimate" scenes are poorly done dialogue wise and always take me out of the moment, they're cheesy and lack any semblence of realistic character depth or relationship.

So.. no, not all of us care about the sex...
