Well i put that down to Bioware not wanting there flagship game on the Xbox 360 and PC getting into the same mess ME 1 did. Bioware would not be able to use there was no F/F romance card in ME 2 with any of the new female squad mates.

What do you think Bioware will do when ME3 rolls around and the femshep/Liara romance players have established in ME1, and forced to remain faithful to in ME2, comes upon them?

Straight. Support it.

When the game comes out, if it has both m/m and f/f options, I'll be buying it at full new-game price. Otherwise, going to wait 'till it price drops and I've totally finished Dragon Age.

I support the toad demon's motion.

I am also surprised at how much hypocrisy and bigotry you can fit into a single thread, but hey it's the Internets so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Good question. Given that it was already totally uncalled for to reduce the ME 1 companions to the small role they apparently play in ME 2, I think it's not too hard to predict that the promise to let them play a larger role in ME 3 has to be treated as exactly that - a promise. I certainly wouldn't count on it after the baffling changes we see in ME 2.

It's an RPG with romance. Anyone should be able to imagine themself in it or decide who their character is. It is such a small thing that makes such a huge difference and should be included.

I'm still betting it is. I don't see any reason why they would include it in other games and ignore it in one of most recent and most popular.

It would be just stupid to add it to the story it doesnt make any sense, you cant just make Shepard suddenly turn gay it would be totally retarted. Also i find it hard to believe that someone who would be openly gay would get him/herself promoted to Commander and become the first human spectre. My point is just that it wouldnt make any sense, and attleast for me it would seriously ruin the moment if im playing with my Shepard in ME3 and maybe im recruiting some dude to my team and i would get dialog options like: "Hey handsome fella lets go to my room and **** each other in the ass, because i just became gay cuz some friggin hippies demanded it in the forums"

I what regard was the f/f romance in ME ever an issue?

AFAIK the whole "scandal" was about the sex scenes in general.

I am female, play a female and prefer a woman's touch. But besides that, even if I weren't a lesbian I would still support same sex relationships. A human has mind, body, and soul. It shouldn't matter who their soul mate is. I romanced Liara in ME 1 and prefer a monogomous relationship. So if I have to wait for ME 3 to continue my relationship with her, then so be it. As for ME 2, will play it for the story and the gameplay.

Valid criticism of an idea is fine, unfortunately the criticism on this thread is aimed at people and their lives.  Beyond that ,why go on a thread whose topic doesn't interest you, that is labeled "support" in the title to "criticize" those who want to talk about supporting their views?  The gay threads are never just allowed to be; they are constantly filled with people spreading hate and prejudice who want all dialogue to end.

Correct.  The 'scandal' was not about same-sex anything, it was about false accusations that Mass Effect had full frontal nudity and extremely graphic sex scenes.

Well its one thing for Bioware to make aliens like Liara that can have mind sex with anyone. We are all only guessing that they can have sex the human way. But as the new ME 2 female squad mates all come from races that have both male and female they can't make up stuff to hide it.

ME1 hid nothing, the love scene heavily implied physical contact. Nothing was shown aside from a sideboob and some buttocks, but the poses and actions implied that there was some sex. It's known that sexually (as in their organs and physique) that Asari are female, so they are perfectly capable of "being with" either a male or a female.

Mass Effect 2, from everything that's been seen or revealed, completely does a U-Turn and it's left a lot of us disappointed. BioWare have allowed us a lot of freedom with our Sheps, so why not this final one?

On the other hand, I'm pretty sketpical a thread solely for support of heterosexual romance would be left uncriticized.

Point is, if someone wants to discuss something with rules more restrictive than the house rules, it should probably be a group so that they can personally moderate.

No one would ever need to make a thread like this.  The inclusion of at least one hetero romance in these games is a given.  Mass Effect 2 has six

Now, if you're taling about a thread asking for only hetero romances, then you are probably right...it would be criticized.

But this moots your point b/c the OP and others aren't asking for only homosexual options...just one each gender.

Why wont people leave the decisions to Bioware...

Because they want to sell their products to US, so they better listen to what WE want. Apparently they listened to a bunch of people who for whatever reasons screamed on their forums about romances with strange Aliens, maybe they'll listen now too.

It's abit late now however. Don't you think? I couldent care less about the aliens and whatnot. I am happy with whatever Biowares decision is. Even if it would be a all gay romance game. I don't care. Unless it turns out to be realy bad for some reseon. Then i care. But that has not happend so far in my eyes.

Point is. Even tho you might want gay romance in it they don't owe it to anyone to put it in ther. They have done so much more then any other company that i can think of.

Insteed of trying to demand gay romance for evry game they have done or will do. Why not be happy that they have it at all for any game?

And no. I do not have any problems with homosexuals. But think about it. They might not have put it in Mass 2. But they sure have put it in alot of other great games they have done and will do.

That's why i say. Leave it to them.
(Btw this is a general response not only to you Bjd. :P)

Well yes we can see that they have physical contact with each other but i find it hard to belive that a alien race that has no need for sexual organs to mate would have them. But if Bioware have said somewhere they do thats fine as it's there game.

Dayseeker you are right sorry i have gotten side tracked from my first post hear and this isn.t the thread to be talking about why there isn't a same sex romance.

Yet no one seems to go to the Tali or Garrus threads and tell them to shut up (or maybe someone has, as I don't even have an interest in reading them).

No, people don't do that to their threads.  Their desires for Tal/Garrus romance are respected around here.

Those that want gay or lesbian content don't deserve the same kind of respect apparently.

I second this! (raises hand into the air)

You're right.  A thread that is a word-for-word copy of this one except for ****** replaced by hetero wouldn't make much sense.

Now, if you're taling about a thread asking for only hetero
romances, then you are probably right...it would be criticized.

I doubt you'd even need to be that extreme.  I imagine you'd get people showing up to criticize a thread that was something like, "I support heterosexual romances, and I hope there are as many as possible.  Please don't come in here if you don't have anything nice to say."

I support homosexuality in games, as well as in any other media and in society. You have my support. While I do not need it myself, I find it sad that you are discriminated against. A big feature of role-playing games it the opportunity to play a role of ones own desire, and I can see your frustration with being confined within a heterosexual orientation.

A homosexual spectre. Now that would be a victory for humanity. Shows that the best person suited for the position gets it, despite traits that the majority of society deems unfavourable. Or, that society has finally become less ignorant and hateful.

This is a shocking omission by BioWare. The female Shepard/Liara romance was probably one of the most popular is not the popular romance in ME1 and the people who chose that option have nothing in ME2, unless BioWare expect our characters to suddenly turn straight. It wouldn't be bad if our romance from the first game continued but now a large segment of players have been given the shaft (no pun intended). Looks like my Shepard will have to go through ME2 alone. That's sad.
