Pre-ordering - Not this time

I really have hopes for this game.  But, after getting burned on DA2, and then crushed with ME3, a pre-order this time is not in the works.

I am really, really hoping you do us right Bioware.  Dragon Age, and Mass Effect are great series.. just .. please.. don't crush me again.

As per comments below - here is the revision:

DA2 had great graphics, some good combat mechs, but was very limited on 'World Space', pretty much confined to the city with sub jaunts here and there.. overall gameplay felt more confining and limited then DAO - DAA.

ME3 was a great, fantastic game up until the last 10 mins.  The fact that they basically threw everything out the window you had played for in the previous two games (decisions, etc) for the mindless interaction with the kid in the citadel was devastating.  Yes, they did try to clean that up with the Shore Leave, and the Extended Cut.. but ONLY after an enormous outcry from their customers.  And it took almost a year to do that.  So.. do I have faith they will do right this time.. not really, but I am hoping.  I forked out $80 for the pre-order on ME3, and $70 on the pre-order for DA2.  I think I will wait this time and see what the community has to say about the game after release before I fork out any more $$.

Just letting them know that I do vote with my dollars.  They are no that easy to come by these days.

Yeah.. it did.  Just to let them know that we.. their customer base, the ones that actually pay the bills, never forget.

And.. this is the feedback section.  Just giving feedback.

I already pre-ordered it so I have no idea who you mean with "we"

speak for yourself mate

I thought DA:II was still a very decent game(it did have some serious flaws though)

And Me 3 was great except that ending that they fixed with the Extended Cut

Yeah I'm sure the hundreds of other posts and threads like this over the last 4 years failed to do it...

Also keep in mind we aren't representative of their whole customer base we're just a vocal minority.

You don't give enough details on why you are not preordering for this to be useful feedback though. You need to explain why, point out details you disliked, provide ways to correct this.

"I am not preordering because I am disappointed" is not good feedback.

"I am not preordering because the previous release was too buggy to warrant my confidence." Or "I feel I have not seen enough of (insert feature here) to make an informed prepurchase decision."

Without clear reasoning Bioware cannot act upon your feedback.

I'm on the fence about pre-ordering.  I imagine there is some kind of deadline for that.  Any ideas on the last day you can pre-order?

Heh, I'm at a funny spot when it comes to preordering. I promised myself I wouldn't preorder anymore due to various dissapointments not just with bioware but the game industry as a whole. Then my SO comes around and preorders the collectors edition as a wedding present.

Ya if you want to leave constructive criticism for the developers you will need to be more specific as the "getting burned be DA2 and ME3" have been done to death and even then it still doesn't say what issues you had with the games.

Not pre-ordering is pretty much always the smart move.  It's not like they're going to run out.

Admittedly I'm not that smart, because I'd preorder if the price came down a bit

Ive never pre-ordered a game in all my nigh 40 years on this planet, an tbh up till E3 it was staying that way, now well im not so sure, heck they could re-use the environments an give me a me3 ending an i still be sitting here wanting to pre - order, game looks exactly how i want it to tbh.

Only thing stopping me in system requirements, once there published i will either be straight on amazon or not seen much again lol

Hmm. I suppose I ought to do a thread about how I liked ME3 and DA2 just fine, then.

I liked ME3 and DA2 a lot (for exactly the reasons OP said they didn't like them, actually). Though it seems I'm in the minority in that. Regardless, i will be pre-ordering a digital copy as soon as they release minimum PC specs for it.

Personally, I love DA2. A lot. So I had no problem pre-ordering DAI. I'm sorry you found it and ME3 disappointing though, and I hope you can enjoy Inquisition. I think Bioware listens to their fans and have something truly breathtaking in the works.

So far I've been very satisfied with these games, so I'm confident that Inquisition will be no different.

I frequently pre-order (I prefer calling it "Reserving" since I only put down the min deposit) with less than 72hours left.

Also, I should point that out as an advantage of retail distribution. At least my gamestop only has a $5Min Pre order deposit and a 48hour hold period. So you can actually "Pre Order" and then pick it up once you're confident it'll be worth your money. Press/consumer reviews and all that.

And @Mes
Generally speaking, (non limited editions) its possible the day before to set one to the side for yourself by preordering. It assures you a copy but like I mentioned, may not be limited edition type. They vary from game to game when those can no longer be done.

I preorder most games I get. In affect, using it like was layaway.

OP, is having fun I guess since we've more than one of these threads now. Im mostly replying to two people other than the OP.

Not pre-ordering. Although what I saw was better than DA2, until it gets to a point where Bioware can no longer manage the message I won't bite. On top of that, you have the timed DLC thing, that makes buying the game within the first month not worth my while. It's not like the game is going to sell out if you don't pre-order.If anything, like happened with DA2 and ME3, amazon will over order and be cutting the price within a month (UK).
