Hahaha, funny thing is this is the first Bioware game I am pre-ordering. I only got into the Dragon age and Mass Effect games a few years ago and bought them all used.

I have to pre-order, or else how will I be able to threaten Bioware with cancelling my pre-order when some minor issue aggravates me?

Not pre-ordering is pretty much always the smart move.  It's not like they're going to run out.

Admittedly I'm not that smart, because I'd preorder if the price came down a bit

Plenty of places to get a pre-release discount. A couple of retailers are having an e3 preorder sale where I live, and have done it for the last few years.  There is one particular site that regularly offers discounts on pre-orders. Just have to look. I only usually preorder personally when I know I'm not going to stop thinking about a game until I actually play it.  Gotta have my fix!

I'm going to gauge plenty of reviews and fan-based reception before I buy it. The talk of DLC already, the combat/level design, and the companions all have left me highly disappointed. If it doesn't shape up, it's not getting my purchase, let alone a pre-order.

I have already pre-ordered but  I agree that not pre-ordering is probably the smarter thing to do from a consumer point of view but i am confident i'll enjoy the game just as i did with previous DA games ( and the 3 ME games). I'm sure that I'll get my money's worth.

I don't buy that many games so i don't mind paying full price now and again, though Rockstar is releasing GTA V on pc later this year as well so that will be another one I buy..

I'd also consider where you pre-order from. Amazon UK put DA:I up for £56, now it's around £45. Not a big deal because Amazon has a price promise, but some other retailers don't. By pre-ordering early and or on a whim, you are just giving them money.

I swear some times I think I'm the only person that really liked DA2 ;-;

You aren't. You really aren't. Far from it in fact. ::gives friendship cookie::

I love DA2 as well, granted I didnt like the maps being repeated but ignored that. Think of it as Varric recalling things in his head for Cassandra to hear and doesnt get the areas detailed right. :)

Origin has a price promise. You can also "return" the game if you are unhappy within 24 hours.

I have already preorded the game and paid in full the deluxe edition.

I like DA2 and I really enjoyed ME3 with the number of playthroughs I've done.

I'm not worried about the game. From what I've seen so far, I won't be disappointed. I give Bioware a thumbs up.

Even if DAI was similar as DA2  I would buy it, although it had many flaws it's still good game in my books. I'm still middle of ME3.. I'm quite nervous about the ending, I don't know what it will be but people seem to hate it XD I think there is even happy end mods for PC players around? Well I have to see what I think of the game after I have completed it, so far I have mostly good things to say.

I don't like preordering stuff so that's my reason to wait until release. I want physical copy and I want to get it from shop myself ^^

I dont think it is as bad as ppl make out personally, my worst reaction to it was "is that it? oh well" an then proceeded to play it again :D

I think it would be wise for your default for any game to be to not pre-order. So, whenever people say they are not preordering a specific game, I think "yeah, so?" That being said, I liked DA2, loved ME3 enough (despite the ending) to play it 6 times, and I'm super excited for DAI. So, yeah, I did preorder the deluxe edition.

DA2 wasn't up to the quality and standards expected of a Bioware title and was inferior to Origins for sure. However Bioware does seem to want to correct things and are returning back to quality products. After all DAI is taking quite a bit to be released so they clearly learned something from what happened with DA2 and even ME3 so it's doubtful we'll see a repeat of those and that DAI may actually top DAO.

A lot of people liked DA2.  Hell, I liked DA2's story a great deal more than DAO's story.  It was non-standard with antagonists who were driven by goals and beliefs much more than some overwhelming need to destroy the world for the EVIL of it all.  I also preferred the companions, their dialogue, and the fact that -- while they were influenced by your Hawke -- they weren't enslaved to the player (e.g. you couldn't change their armor and you went to them for added dialogue).  And, I liked the more kinetic, more sensational gameplay in most cases.  Mages were a great improvement from DAO and, while the rogues were sometimes a bit much, making their melee fighting style distinct from the warrior's was a great move.  And, I much preferred the graphics.

All of the above are things I hope Bioware kept intact from DA2 despite rabid (and, IMO, overblown) criticism from a vocal group of detractors.

That having been said, DAO dominated DA2 in terms of clearly having a better fleshed out, more diverse game world in which the player had greater agency.  It didn't seem that much of anything the player does in DA2 really matters.  You will always fight both Orsino and Meredith. Anders always blows up the Chantry.  You always lose at least one sibling.  That lack of agency, when coupled with disgustingly repetitive locations, makes the game seem much smaller than it really is and distracts from what was otherwise a much more compelling story than what's offered in DAO.

So, I'm hoping that DAI's four years of development will ensure a more fleshed out setting and, judging by what I've seen thus far, I'm optimistic that will be the case.  But, even more than that, I want my decisions -- since DAO and through DA2 -- to matter to this game, and for the choices made in this game to have meaningful impact on the end-game.  While I don't expect that my character will affect every outcome (e.g. Leandra always dying would have been fine if other major events didn't always end the same way), I do want to have a significant impact as a result of my actions and choices.  DAO was a bit stronger in this regard (even if some of those choices were sort of voided out in DA2).

I also hope that so-called fans stop with this "Never Forget" meme that has been popping up.  This is a frickin' game for crying out loud, not the Holocaust or the segregated South.  Get a grip.  If you want to be disappointed, fine (even if half of the criticisms tend to be... well, pretty shallow from my perspective); but to take that disappointment and somehow magnify it to such a degree seems grossly out-of-place and inappropriate.

On yahoo they were talking about the absolute worst games ever made and DA2 made the list, I defended it as I had pre-ordered it and still enjoy it but the response's I got and the tumbs down measured around 780 something with only 8 likes.

While some things with DA2 are annoying like endless reinforcements dropping from very high places in full armor that would have made most of those guys pop tarts with the gooey parts leaking out or the Rogue's abilities for disarming traps and a whole row while standing in the middle of a fight.

The elves in Kirkwall are worse off than the one's in the Denerim Alienage they must not feed them and oh yea repeating area's while I can understand from a city's perspective not a lot changes, but a certain store in the market district the door kept changing from chapter to chapter, solid rock and they managed to move the door. <I have to chuckle at that one, those Fereldan shop keepers must be mages them selves to keep people guessing where the door might end up.

But otherwise except for these minor things I still enjoy DA2.

An as for DA:I I have thrown in for the CE wanted a Morrigan Bust or statue something like what SWTOR but I can't say I've been burned by Bioware just some bad idea's to let people get creative behind closed doors without insight to how to finish an ending with ME3 or the short production of DA2 but all in all it was a fun ride.

DA:I is getting a longer production window to iron out the details and make sure it works across all systems and with as little game breaking issues not like Ubisoft's Watchdogs.

I was starting to lean toward a preorder. Game looked F'IN great. Then the Sera's dead. No she's not, I never said she's alive response from DG. Along with the Can't talk about MP interview. ( I hate MP) Maybe I need a break. Game looks great and BioWare earned all those awards at E3. Bye.

Worst games ever? Crazy folks. I get not liking the game but it's far from the worst game ever.

Listen I've seen some seriously gaming travesties in my years okay? DA:2 wasn't perfect, but it was no Shadow the Hedgehog.

I preordered myself, pc deluxe and xbox one deluxe. Though I sort of agree with the op. I really enjoyed DA2 but....

Da2 - The story and characters were great and the story dlc too. My issue was purely hating the combat system, nauseated by the 4 or 5 recycled environments and how the city and people didn't age in that 7 year span they didn't even change clothes! otherwise it was enjoyable.

Me3- fully agree everything was fantastic until the last 10 minutes. While I enjoyed shore leave a lot, not even the extended cut saved the ending. I felt no real resolution at all.

But I believe in 3 strikes and that's just 2, and so I'm supporting da:I but this is biowares last chance to fully restore my faith in them, in my opinion cd project red is really that close to stealing the best rpg studios crown.

Such lists are the reason why I no longer check reviews at all. Gamers have the habit to overreact to annoyances and as soon as I saw how people reacted to the ending of ME3 I stopped checking reviews entirely. Gamers are way too spoiled nowadays and expect everything and more from new games, something which can't be delivered. DA2 was an okay game but in no way was it a bad game. It asbsolutely doesn't deserve to be on such list.

I try to avoid saying "worst game ever" to anything because every time I flash back to all of the horrible games I've played, the worst of which shaves of years of your life just by the sheer agravation they invoke.

DA:2 had issues, oh boy, it did but it did not make me want to throttle the personification of it or bash my computer into tiny, sparking bits with a sledgehammer.
