Are you at peace with ME3?

2 years after release, the ending is still the hottest issue of the gaming world. Many say that Bioware betrayed their fans and when Bioware stood up and said that they were going to do something about the ending, many fans still think they betrayed them when they still stuck to the theme of the God Child and their purpose of Organic and Synthetic conflict.

My question to players out their is this:

Now with the Extended Cut DLC, are you at peace with ME3? When I mean "at peace" I don't mean you like it and it's perfect, it means are you alright with it being as it is and are you able to move on and accept it?

Are you still angry and you will continue to be unhappy with Bioware and you hold a belief that there might be a way for them to go back and change the entire game? Or do you no longer wish to be unhappy and accept the ending and find a way to play off the parts of the ME3 story for your personal epilogue?

For me, I'm dong the latter. I was a Post EC newcomer so I was able to experience the more complete ending, with the Leviathan and Citadel DLC, and I was okay with it. I know there were things that could have been done better especially in the final battle to the beam.

I had an idea of dividing the War assets into three categories, (Fleet strength, Ground Strength, Crucible strength) and each strength affects each one in the final battle leading up the final choice.

But for me, I don't want to put myself in the trap of "Could have been" and dwell so much on the negative and forget all the great fun I had playing all 3 games. I saw the EC and I thought it was good and I nodded my head during the credits looking back at the incredible journey I had.

What about you? Are you still letting yourself stay in the pit of "Could have been" or are you finding a way to be happy with what is? I found my way which is through my Fan-fic epilogue of the best Destroy ending. (Complete with my theory of how the Geth and EDI can be resurrected)

I may be the minority, but I've always been at peave with ME3. They are games, supposed to entertain, not make my life miserable.

I'm fine with Destroy, the Geth were already scrap metal anyways. EDI is regrettable collateral damage.

It's still grim and unsatisfying, but I've played games with far worse endings.

Sure. No reason not to be, if you've played the previous games and realize they're all similarly flawed.

Yes. You can't turn back the hands of time and the games are what they are.

While the trilogy ultimately failed due to a variety of factors and is a sad missed opportunity, I still enjoyed the games for what they were as well as discussing them with people here and elsewhere.

Hell, yes I'm angry.  Due both to the content itself and how they handled the backlash.  I don't see how I can ever trust them again.  Maybe if they told us MENExt will be compatible with MEHEM or Marauder Shields.  Maybe I could start to forgive them then.

My opinion of it hasn't changed if that's what you mean. It's been two years so it doesn't **** me off in the way it orginally did but nothing has changed to make it any better, so I still won't say anything nice about the ending.

At a logical level, sure. What they didn't do was combine that with hitting the wrong tone and, well, wrong just about everything

at the wrong moment so were still enjoyable despite it. Hell, the same is even true for other areas of ME3, like Rannoch and the genophage. They both had their problems (particularly Rannoch) but were still great experiences. It's only that one crucial point where it all hit the buffers. People talk about moving on but because that was the end of the game the game couldn't move on (unlike the arguably equally bad start). Leaving you at that point is a big part of the issue.

I knew the games were imperfect, not just ME3, but I've embraced the great stuff they did have and loved every moment on the Normandy. I know of the missed opportunities like my War asset idea to make the final battle a little more like the suicide mission but ultimately, knowing that **** happens in the game industry, ME3 didn't end up like what Aliens: Colonel Marines did. I'm thankful that didn't happen.

I still play it and am pretty ok with the Destroy epilogue for the most part, so I imagine so.

mhm...

i very like ME1, ME1 and relationships with party members is good, in truth ME1 is the only game when i was like "hey i can play a proffesional soldier, specialist no less"(especially female Shepard infiltrator). ME2 as game and what direction it took, in terms of characters was a disappointment. "I will run this ship military" Shepard said, and he/she didn't.

ME3 despite relationships between characters, and priority Earth and aftermath of Thessia i like. Because of combat design and character's skill development. Add to that NG+ and multiplayer. So despite the failure with the endings, game is good and i am not regreting of buying it, and its dlcs.

However on a background of DA2 and ME3 botches, i am looking for DAI with a good amount of skepticism.

yeah sidenote: there is no way Shepard would go anywhere, but Destroy.

Never had a problem with ME 3 in the first place.  Just finished another playthrough just last week.

Didn't have a problem until I was nearly dragging into the pit of "could have been" when I heard the Indoctrination Theory and all the other hater comments. So I'm both at peace and happy with ME3.

Mass Effect 3 was and is a great game. It has flaws, sometimes major ones. And it's not as good as ME2 (but nothing is, so. Meh) but ME3 is a great game. Well worth the time and money I put into it. I enjoyed it much and will probably play it in the future. Especially the MP.

So, yeah. I guess I'm at "peace" with the game.

Now ask me, if I'm at peace with that ending.........

Cause it's two different things. That ending is so, so "odd" and astray from the rest of the game. That I actually view it as a separate segment, lol.

RE: The ending: I think you can be at peace with something without necessarily liking it; eventually, you move past the phase of "George Lucas ruined my childhood!!!" to a more bemused and distant, "Man, the prequels weren't very good, were they?" Now that the trilogy has wrapped up, I've found that there are few series it's more fun to play Monday Morning Quarterback for than ME, and in a lot of ways, the possibility space of Mass Effect has been just as compelling as the trilogy itself.

I always assumed it was EDI's mobile platform that got 86ed, not the actual EDI.

In my daily life, I have moved on. But when it comes to thinking about the game, I guess I'm not at peace.

But there are many far better games out there to be played, so yippee ki-yay.

My only issue with the ending was the motivations of the Reapers.  I'm a very late comer to the party (having finished the series for the first time a little over a week ago,) and that was the only part of the game that outright made me angry.

d63996275449e0248cd51e0260dc5bc9cc2ae0f1

However, I'm not going to let 10 minutes of poorly explained dialogue ruin my experience with the games.  I let Citadel be my ending and just move on out from there.  I'm not going to pre-order any ME game or even buy it new without reading a lot of reviews first.  I'm too skeptical to do otherwise, but I'm at peace.
