Why must it be resolved cleanly?
I was at peace with ME3 from the first time I picked Control and headcanoned the rest. The original ending was actually more flexible in regards to headcanon, but the EC has other benefits that I like, and doesn't directly contradict my own headcanon.
Is there other stuff I wish they'd done? Yes. Why didn't we get to blow up at least one Reaper Dreadnought throughout ME3? What happened to Harbinger's voice? Why didn't we get to see more of our War Assets?
But... that stuff didn't happen. And I've accepted that.
so it feels like the game actually ends... and doesn't just sit there, feeling half finished, or half-eaten?
You're dead at the end of ME3. You're finished.
Why must it be resolved cleanly?
Well it IS Shepard, and the characters we have grown to love ending to ME franchise. Not to mention Bioware leaves Shepard in a pile of rubble. Earth, or Citadel (it's up for debate). They simply just want to move on and forget about Shepard, and fan feedback. Not to mention they just want to milk Shepard for all he/she is worth it seems. Marketing you know. Got to love it.

It works though. All those people who never wanna play a Bioware product again and all who hate ME3... they're all back because of a 2 minute video with mostly real life human people in it.

to be fair it has N7 armor though, and face is covered, and is human. What makes no sense is, if things are legit from a site source, then it is going to be a squeal, yet not have anything to do with the events from ME3, but simple nods to it. ya......either going to flop, or tank.
I am not going to get the new ME game though. More into Halo now, and new games coming out. would have probably gotten ME4, but how ME3 was handled no thank you.
Let me put it this way....I'm no longer angry at the ending. Do I still hate it? Oh yes, I would change it in a instant and it will always be a blemish on the Trilogy for me, so no I'm not at peace with it, and I become bitter when I think about it. But, yeah. I'm over it for the most part.
Why must it be resolved cleanly?
It's called narrative cohesiveness. A story arc. A plot.
The "reader" should know how the story ends. The central conflict must be resolved. The protagonist's story should come to an end. It's called an ending. The ending of Mass Effect 3 is not the ending to the story of Mass Effect.

I'm sorry, but this is absolutely bullshit. You destroy or control the Reapers, or you avoid the problem alltogether and synthesise everyone and everything. Conflict resolved.
What you want is an epilogue.
And who says the conflict has to be resolved? Sometimes a story just end with the death of the protagonist, and the central conflict rages on. That might not be your taste, but there are no rules whatsoever that the conflict has to be resolved... except in Hollywood, where everything has a happy end.

Some of this was cleared up in the EC, but at least beforehand, there were so many unknowns that is a absolute piece of ****.
And I ask, why would the Reapers stop doing what they're doing in synthesis? Why wouldn't they just decide to rule everyone?
And the game is so ****** unclear on how all this happens. How does shooting a pipe trigger destroy? How does grabbing onto a power conduit cause control? How does jumping into a beam of energy make synthesis? Who designed it this way? How stupid is Shepard to do any of these things? And there are so many more questions.
The central conflict is the protagonist versus the antagonist. That is what conflict is, from a literary sense. If Shepard gets just incinerated by Harbinger and dies, then the conflict is resolved. The antagonist won.
The rule that the central conflict should be resolved is a pretty common guideline for quality story telling.
How does a beam of energy only destroy synthetics and not organics?
How does a beam of energy control the Reapers?
How does a beam of energy make Organic/Synthetic hybrids.
It was always going to be an ending with a lot of unanswered questions. There's no logical way normal organics can logically defeat a fullblown army of hyper advanced oganic/synthetic hybrid space Cthulhu's. If you expected that well then.. that's on you.
I'm at peace that the choice I made was made for the right reasons. I destroyed the Reapers. Starjar said that the chaos would come back, but hey ho I bought us some time to build a kick ass armada and send the reapers back to darkspace where they belong.
and then I woke up.

He It did not mean the Reapers by chaos.

Thanks for helping my point.
Crucible could've been some giant gun/space laser. That would be the logical contraption for a 10-20 kilometer super weapon designed with the intent of killing a fleet of powerful dreadnoughts.
I rather like the use of the mass relay network to kill the reapers.
Shall we blow up some relays?

You mean it's not a gian gun/space laser?
Lol. My God.
Unless, of course, you're not.
Yep. High EMS Destroy EC ending says hello. ![]()
Set phasers to kill/subjugate/kumbaya.
I just gave this post a 1000 likes, but you only see 1.

Maybe I was thinking of more this
Than this:
Set phasers to kill/subjugate/kumbaya.
Make that 2.
