Yes, I am that old. and that is Leslie Nielsen from "The Naked Gun."
Hey, that movie was before my time, but I have seen it!
I even got the reference to that one planet in ME1 who's records said their people were destroyed by "monsters from the id"

Leviathan: Intelligence, go forth and study our thralls to ensure that they do not destroy themselves. See that they are guarded, and to preserve our tribute.
Intelligence: Please elaborate on the nature of your mandate. Please define "preserve".
Leviathan: JUST DO IT. *descends into ocean*
Intelligence: ...
....
.................
Intelligence: F*ck it. I'm killing him first.
To be honest, that's almost how it plays out. Just erase the last line and you basically have "How all this crap hit in the fan in the first place".
It's still painfully ironic that this happened simply because they told the Catalyst "at all cost" and forgot to exempt themselves from the process because they just assumed they'd be exempt.
I am prothean. I'm never at peace ![]()
Except for the far fetched unworthty ending of the trilogy and the poor part the virmire survivor played in ME2 (better let him/her be abducted by the collectors, in order to be saved or killed depending on your playthrough).
And deleted Ashley scene (" I could dance for you"
http://www.gameranx....-mass-effect-3/ )
Well beside these three missed opportunities...
I love it and still playing it almost every day.
I used to think that the ending was defective, in addition to being depressing, confusing and generally bad. Thinking about it now, It wasn't actually defective.
I realized now that I hated it because it didn't have what I wanted, which is closure. Now that I don't care anymore, I feel pretty stupid back then demanding for a new ending. The original was okay enough; not what I wanted, but okay enough.
That whole uproar about "being lied to" about choices mattered was just sad thinking back now. Whatever they "promised" is no different then the generic "satisfaction guaranteed" you see for all the other product.
I hope we all grew a bit

Just like how there was a silent minority/majority who liked the endings, there were those who simply said it was bad but never demanded any kind of change and not even for those reasons, necessarily.

You literally spend an hour saying goodbye to people.
My problem with the endings was always that it was clearly not finished and all its faults stemmed from that fact. Any customer has the right to ask for a refund but they don't give out refunds in gaming. It was all tied in to the general feeling in the gaming community at the time that we were being ripped off and were unsatisfied with our purchases and there was nothing we could do about it. The EC did well to give something back but it was citadel DLC that left me feeling like it was worth playing the game again it finally felt like a finished product.
You won't catch me demanding a new ending to a near 3 year old game next week but the original was terrible and ATT the uproar was probably justified. Even if my reasons differ from others I don't disagree with their assertions that it needed a new ending.

Don't buy the games.
Clean, simple, neet.
Yep my solution too. I've sworn off Ubisoft for life haven't bought a game from them in 2 years.
These days I wait and see what the reaction to a game is before I buy it.
Or just don't buy games full price when they've just been released. I usually buy them on discount.
those damn Steam sales... I have so many untouched games I could probably amusae myself for the next year or two
Last game I bought full price (the latest Age of Wonders) didn't bring me what I thought it would, and that kinda bugs me for €50,- (which is like $100
). If I bought the game for €10 it's still cheaper than going out clubbing for a night, and even if it's not so much fun, I'll probably still spend more time on it than I would in the club.
Except those earlier mentioned untouched games from the Steam sales...

Same here. I hate those steam sales, but I love them too. Getting > having.
ME3 has his advantages and disadvantages: the crew has good and derp members
There are good and derp dialogues
Good and derp missions
And good and derp endings ![]()
Wait wait wait! I haven't seen this before? Why the mothering **** was this left out?!And deleted Ashley scene (" I could dance for you"
http://www.gameranx....-mass-effect-3/ )
I would like to have that scene with Ashley in the game. I would imagine it would only happen if she was a LI. Still, it would be nice to of had that scene. I have romanced her.
Ash was sadly lacking in ME3, so much so that I rarely have her in the game any more, preferring Kaidan's content.
A shame, that scene would have added a lot.
Re the ending, and closure - I can see that - If Shepard's dead, then she's dead. Fine. The 'breathe' scene though still p1sses me off. If she's alive, then just show her alive already. Include her in the epilogue FFS. Whether she's dead or alive doesn't really bother me, it would just have been nice to have some finality, especially given that we're not going to see the character again.
Oh well.....

Everyone would have romanced her when that scene was still in game I guess

Political Correctness.
That's why I prefer synthesis. It's final, puts everything to rest and you can move on from it having no major issues left over and shep is definitely dead.
And yes that Ashley scene should've been in (if its legit) I can only think they were trying to avoid expanding on the religious elements of the game which are fairly tame when you think about it. Maybe worried about offending people or just avoiding the philosophical debate over life after death. I personally wouldn't mind and I'm religious.

On the religious thing, there are planets description in Mass Effect 1 that say a lot and in Mass Effect 3 there is the Thessia mission which is about that. Maybe this scene would be too much.
On the whole I didn't find those too bad I felt it added atmosphere to the story, you have the religious discussion with ME1 Ashley that gives you a chance to make Shep atheist, the "Humaan Mythology" line from ME2, I don't find any of it to be over done. I think this would have been great addition to the story and given some extra context to his Cerberus base dialogue where he questions if he's really Shepard or "Just an advanced VI".
That being said they get enough flack for controversial subjects as it is without giving people more ammo.

And so now they get to take flak for gutting Ash's personality.
@Lakus
At least that's confined to the forum.
I can see a certain conservative American 'news network' leading into a story with "Sex with aliens, forced abortions (genophage) and now blatant atheist agenda's. Are video games destroying our children and attacking Christianity?"

Ooh I can already imagine the goons of Fox & Friends passing silly remarks back and forth amongst themselves.

Bah, the how Shepard=Messiah thing was so cloyingly heavy-handed I doubt pundits would have had time for anything else.
