You'd think someone would be relieved they could play the game because they wanted to, and not because they needed to "prepare their save".
The reason why I just finished my 9th playthrough ![]()
And cause TME really got me excited for the City Elves perspective and I wanted to catch up on DAO's plots concerning that.
I don't trust the Keep. The Genesis comic from ME2&3 missed a ton of little things. For instance you never met certain characters who showed back up and their conversations reflected that. I didn't like it. But I understand it's necessity.
If the only reason you want to play the old games is just to import, then you're playing them for the wrong reason. You should be replaying them because you find them fun, that's the point.

Keep has already been confirmed to be way more complex then genesis.

Anders was a good kid.
It's probably just as well we have to rely on the Keep as they can concentrate on making it work properly and there will be less chance of disappointment because import flags don't work correctly. I imported saves from DAO & DAA into DA2 and as I understand it a faulty flags was the reason Zevran offered to have sex with Isabella and Hawke when he was meant to have been devoted to my Warden and even if dead "never loved (by this they meant had sex) with anyone again." I also had problems with the Sebastian DLC when I got a new computer because when I loaded the game it didn't work properly with the latest patch in Act 3, so I can never complete Sebastian story ever again and I don't have my old save with Sebastian romance because it was lost when my old computer crashed. So if there is any reference to Sebastian in DAI, I will definitely need the keep even if they did allow saves to be carried over. Since for the most part we are operating in a completely different part of Thedas (apart from Redcliffe), then I doubt many of the side quest characters would have a bearing on the story anyway.
Just had a thought. The "canon" version is meant to be with Dalish Warden who made the ultimate sacrifice but at the end of DA2 Lelianna mentions the disappearance of the Warden regardless of whether your Warden died or not, so presumably where ultimate sacrifice took place, this must refer to the Orlesian Warden.
Dragon Age Keep does not void any memorable experiences of previous games. They still happened. However, it is no longer necessary to go through 100+ hours of gameplay just to experience a different outcome.

Did you miss the part where I said I've completed Origins over 20 times? After experiencing EVERYTHING, I find it a lil 'hard to go back and play for fun value.
Playing through it to appreciate the story?
But if this is like your tenth playthrough, it does get a bit boring, so I'd just wait for Inquisition.
Yeah, I've mainly played through so many times because i'd get to the end, then decide "Actually... I think that character would have made that choice instead", so I restart lol
If there is no import to the keep then what is the point of it. Create the world state in the game directly.
If it's in the game itself, then it's set. And any errors are set as well (see the faulty flag for the Zevran romance for an example - while they could patch the game so that the flag is set correctly, that won't change previously existing save files.). If they have it outside the game, then they can fiddle with it for as long as they like. Which means, they can add flags they didn't think of as important before, which would be impossible if creating the world state was within the game itself.
If they are going very complex a worthwhile use for the developers of the Keep functions is to use the DA servers as they trace your progress on DA:O/A and DA2 then the things you have done in both games will appear such as minor things that could show up example dwarve noble warden has a untainted son who could regain his royal house thus brings help a plot involving the dwarves in DA:I minor things can turn major depending on how you look at it and i doubt the Keep will have all the absolute choices in the minor sections so i would think the DA servers will help fix some of that by tracing players progress long as they were connected online to save.
TCH, I know I won't be able to import and I'm on Awakening with my current character.
I'll keep playing these games for the joy. The keep is just really convenient because of all the import bugs you get. It doesn't make the games irrelevant if you... you know, enjoy them

By Andraste's sacred ******! How did you manage to get through DA:O over twenty times?
Even if you complete all of the different origins stories, that's what, five playthroughs?
How many hours did you log? Steam says I played Origins for 195 hours, and I feel that is excessive hehe.
I've only played through Origins twice, and only once with the whole shebang of Awakening, Golems, and Witch Hunt (plus single playthroughs of the Leliana and Darkspawn stories as well). I appreciate the opportunity to play through them again, but I am also extremely happy that I don't need to spend 50+ hours forging a backstory for my next Inquisition run. As much as I like DAO, it's too long for me to get the same "playthrough after playthrough" enjoyment that I got from Jade Empire or, to a lesser extent, the first KOTOR.
