I watched the gameplay trailers, both times they showed us running through the world to Redcliffe village and I noticed the lack of BGM as I was listening. It could be possible that the dev team had turned off that music so it didn't interfere with their presentation though, I do hope that is all it is.
When we arrived at a hub though it was pretty fantastic to hear the dialogue of everyone and I don't think that there needs to be BGM over these areas because there is already enough audio stimuli; but what worries me is exploration in the world.
My first days in RPGs was The Legend of Zelda and you explored every nook and cranny, it wasn't boring because you had this fun track to listen to in game as you plodded along picking up everything. What I want to do in Dragon Age Inquisition as I was watching the Dev's play is to be able to run around the ENTIRE map picking everything up and finding everything.
Now this is where the BGM is somewhat important imo, when you are mindlessly walking around the world looking for secrets you need something to listen to to keep your mind occupied. It worries me that there will be no ambient music track along the roads that we can run, from the past games as well there is very little field music.
I was wondering if anyone at Bioware was considering writing a Dragon Age track for the field themes?
If not, I guess I need to load my iTunes ready for when I go exploring again
