If DAI is anywhere near as beautiful as The Last of Us on PS3, I'm sure I'll manage.

I don't mind that the graphics won't be as good as the new consoles. I can save that luxury for whenever I'm able to afford one. Until then, I can still enjoy the story and characters without tremendous graphics. So long as the game still runs properly, I'm fine. After all, I loved DAO and DA2 on console, and neither was the pinacle of good graphics, especially for the scenery.

This. Exactly so. As long as it works and has comparable or better graphics to DAO & DA2 (or preferably closer to some of the PS3's more graphically advanced games), I'm happy.

So I got to play Battlefield 4 and now I feel pretty confident that I can play DA:I on near-best settings. Given that DA:I is a newer game I might have to expect to lower it a bit more. I played BF4 at max setting in everything except I turned off anything with anti-alialising and I had to lower the terrain setting a bit, I lagged horribly near too much flora.

This person gets it. By 2016, PS4 will most likely be about as good as a midrange PC...

Uhm.. a Ps4 is as good as  amid range PC today. 2016? Jeebus, even an entry level PC will match it, if not beat it in terms of raw performance at least.

I'm not sure how acquainted Bioware is with the PS3 and xbox 360, but other studios by vritue of the console being out for a long time, are able to squeeze out a lot of performance by knowing all about the tricks of its hardware.

I'm worried that BioWare would give too much of a damn to older consoles which are pretty much not getting anymore support from other companies.

If you are so annoyed by console generations, might as well get a PC. Invest a bit more and have something that is much more robust and adaptable.

Low range

You realize that PCs aren't advancing anywhere near as quickly as you seem to be thinking, right?

The PS4 is not equal to a high range PC. its mid-low range as of now. its memory is more unified so it has an advantage but still.....

It actually is, although the progress is not always consistent throughout the years. There is a lot of 'jumps' when it comes to computer tech and this applies to all technology (consoles included). However, since consoles will never get hardware upgrades throughout their entire life cycle, it is going to stay handicapped in terms of technological power.

As long as they keep the framerate stable, I don't mind weaker graphics.

It'll probably be a couple years before I grab a next gen console. They always release newer models down the road that are smaller, more reliable, and have larger hard drives. Then I'll probably pick one up.

A PS4 has the equivalent of like a 6 year old CPU and a 2011 mid range GPU. It's a mid range PC. You cna pick up a GPU for $500 today that is 3 times as powerful as a PS4, and the next gen of cards are almost upon us. By 2016 you'll be able to pick up that same amount of power for under $300.

I don't know.  As someone who does want a PS4 and may not be able to afford one it is what it is.  Personally graphics are important but far down on the list of what is important for me when I play a game.  So unless the game is a total and complete buggy mess that keeps on crashing the PS3, I really can't be bothered by it.  I am sure I will enjoy it though slightly dissapointed I won't be able to enjoy it on 'max' settings.  But then I might get another copy of DAI if I ever do get a PS4.

Personally i plan on playing on 360 and sure the game will look worse but i dont give a damn....hell, it would probably be 4-5 years until i even consider buying a ps4 or xbone

QFT

Im not too bothered about the graphics either,399.99 is expensive for the new console just for the sake of better graphics,.The only time I would consider getting a xbone is if my 360 slim blows up or the xbone drops in price dramatically and has a decent line up of games.

I also don't like the voice activation nonsense, also the flailing arms at the screen like a lunatic (Minority Report) anyone?.

Those actions aren't required.

The only reason I haven't preordered is because I don't know what new console (or maybe switch to PC) I will get. It's not like we had no warning about next gen consoles coming out, we've known about this for years.

Good looking Graphics are just the ****** & Lipstick of a game for me. I mean sure, they are pretty to look at but they're not vital to my enjoyment of a game.

It will look a lot better on the new machines & on PC but since those people paid a lot of money for their setup's they deserve a game with prettier lipstick & knocking hooters.    :police:

I'll be purchasing DA:I on the 360 most likely but I still expect it to look good compared to other games on the system. + the fact that there is no reason to buy a next gen device so I'll be going PC some time next year.

What I'm more concerned about is how the PS3/360 will handle the huge open world areas, that the game could be riddled with load screen's. If it is then I would have a problem.

That was kind of my point. Some years you have huge leaps in PC tech, some years you have very little aside from small tweaks and they still are limited by the software if not the hardware.

I think BF4 on last gen consoles is a good benchmark for how this will look on those.

As for do graphics matter?  I think so. These things are called VIDEO games for a reason, and a lot of genres, RPG, IMHO being one fo them, are all about the immersion, something that graphics helps out a lot in.

There's also something nice about gameplay that is snappy and responsive, which is why I prefer 60 FPS wherever possible.

You realize that a mid-range PCs beat PS4 today, right?

This was is something unheard of by the way, even Xenos (Xbox 360) used to give high end PCs a run for their money back in 2006, but PS4/XBone are by far the weakest generation of consoles.

And we are close to a pretty big leap on both sides, 22nm and new architectures on the GPUs and DirectX 12 / lower level APIs on the software.

My PC blows my PS4 out of the water, AND I can play mods on it.

I still enjoy playing games off Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on occasion. I'm not worried about graphics so much as long as the game doesn't crash. It could have graphics like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and I'd still probably be cool with it.

They always market the best looking version of the game.  I think it will still look good though on the older consoles.  I suspect that there will be more loading screens and other technical things on the older console versions.  The game will look better, play better, and be more responsive on the newer consoles that is just how it works.  This game is probably enough to get me to finally get that xbox one.  Still have a 360 at the moment.

It probably will considering the PS360 are eight years old and well crap now.

You're lucky that the game is coming to them at all.
