Yeah, because if the placement is not ideal (their own words), it's less realistic.psdo is an actual female with 2 genuine X chromosomes. so it isn't really someone trying to make Sera "hotter" or anything, just more realistic.
No Bra for Sera?

Yeah, because if the placement is not ideal (their own words), it's less realistic.
that's where you want your boobs to sit when they're in a bra that fits and flatters
if 'ideal' doesn't convey that then pick a different word

So, Sera isn't wearing a bra that fits and flatters. Problem?that's where you want your boobs to sit when they're in a bra that fits and flatters
Btw, this whole drama is pretty unnecessary imo given the camera angle -- run imaginary plane parallel to the ground at the breast level and it becomes quite clearer the placement isn't as far off from the 'ideal' as the Dramatic GIFs make it, especially when you include thickness of material and stuff. I'm too lazy to dig out the old DA models to illustrate and frankly, I shouldn't have to.

ffs can we dial it back from 'in universe explanations' to 'maybe the modelers dont know how bras work' because that's what axl and I, two professional video game concept artists, are doing. we're trying to show what bras do. if they want her to somehow be free-boobin' in tight chest armor with boob cups built in then they can let us know
the camera angle is nearly flat

You are two professional video game concept artists, I'm sure you can figure it out on your own without a dedicated memo.if they want her to somehow be free-boobin' in tight chest armor with boob cups built in then they can let us know

we can't read their minds to find out if they did it on purpose or by accident.

I would honestly laugh my ass off if this was really a matter of awkward skinning. But! I've stopped caring after I put the post up since by now the design would likely have been locked down.
Even Isabela, one of my all-time favourite Bioware characters, had shoulders too low and big breasts too freaking high. And corsets don't bend the way they do for the acrobatic things she does in combat.
All I ever cared in the beginning about was anatomical balance, because seeing something askew drives me absolutely nuts. So I thought I'd bring it up in a conversation with Psdo one evening. And it turned out she thought the same thing, and here we are.

What the hell is going on in this thread?
This isn't a bra issue. Whether Thedas has bras or Sera "needs" one is immaterial. The issue is that her model has inaccurately placed her breasts far lower than they should be; it's anatomically incorrect. It's not an issue of breast size or shape--even large breasts, which hang low, don't start like three inches above your g-d belly button.
And it's definitely not about "hotness." To me, Sera's model screams "I was designed by a dude who didn't do enough research."
It's a problem that can be fixed.

Was there ever an instance in your career of professional video game concept artist where (part of) your work was an accident, and not done on purpose?we can't read their minds to find out if they did it on purpose or by accident.
More to the point,

does thing look equally drama-worthy off the ideal placement line to you in this shot too, where there's no camera distortion and half of the body missing to play with your sense of proportions?

... You do realize she's walking DOWN a hill and the camera is placed slightly upwards?
Speaking of cameras.... If some of the devs had been playing the game from the top down view, they might've even thought her chest was too high.

New elf proportions maybe? It could also be the heavy leather adding bulk and weight. Quite frankly I find the idea of a leather armor boob protector to be pretty silly

Um, I'd prefer better looking underwear (and thinner mesh) rather than worrying about how breasts are positioned (which is variable within a range). Not everyone is "perfect".

Could this just be an Elf thing? Do Cassandra and Vivienne have the same issue?
If it's unique to Elves, then there's really no basis for an argument that it's "Wrong", since it'd obviously be intentional. If it's a global problem then yeah, you could make a case.

It will deflect a knife or light blows, but its pretty useless against arrows. Her lower armour is only cloth so her stomach and other vitals are not protected.

It is placed around her navel level, which minimizes distortions in the relevant area.... You do realize she's walking DOWN a hill and the camera is placed slightly upwards?

I missed you BSN. Specifically, I missed the threads where people tell Axl99 and Psdo they're wrong about what they do for a living.
A worthy sequel to the great Dragon Age Origins/2 art style "discussions" of yore.
