It's been brought up.
Here's my(as far as I can tell, unique) position on it: if at all possible I will use whatever persuasion methods to avoid conflict with the wardens. If not possible, then I'm never going to finish the game because I'm going to let them win.
I'm really not comfortable with fighting the Wardens. It's senseless.
What could make the wardens become enemies?
Rather set expectations now.
Good catch, it clearly shows the PC attacking a grey warden.
My guess is that Corypheus is behind this, much the same as the red lyrium was behind the templars going all "red templar" on us. I´m unsure as to what resolution this could have, if Cory can hide in any warden and he can also body hop, then it will be very hard to kill him.
I'd say it's either someone posing as them and trying to make the Inquisition fight The real Wardens or it's the same thing we've seen in DA2 Legacy, where the call of intelligent Darkspawn makes Wardens mad.
I'd like the first. Love me some political intrigue.
Maybe we control the good Wardens serving under Blackwall, and fight the bad Wardens?
Maybe the Grey Wardens, an organization associated with corruption and secrets, aren't as heroic as they seemed when we first played DAO and are up to something... And maybe that's why Blackwall, who seems to be an idealist, is with the Inquisition and not the Wardens...
The Wardens were up to some shady business regarding Corypheus, maybe that has something to do with it.

With extreme prejudice no less. Extreme prejudice that takes the form of a fist shaped battering ram. If that was just a joke I will be so disappointed.
The Inquisition learns that the Wardens have been infiltrated by HYDRA.
Brainwashed Wardens?
Or maybe the Inquisitor is just pissed.
The Grey Wardens may be trying to hold out against the Inquisition, either because, as the world's defenders from the Blight and the darkspawn, they see this as 'not their issue', Corypheus has exerted some kind of influence, or even because the First Warden at Weisshaupt is pushing for this crisis to allow the Wardens greater political power.
That last option is where I'm currently leaning - given that the Breach is said to have killed a lot of major players in Thedas, it could be that the First Warden wants to put the Wardens at the forefront of things, as a way of getting the Wardens a foothold of greater power. Something about the Grey Wardens as an organization has always struck me as being hiding some kind of greater ambitions in their secrecy. If the First Warden wants the Wardens to gain great power in Thedas, what better way than by putting their organization at the forefront of stopping these Fade Tears, being hailed as heroes for saving the world? Sure, they get that at the Blights, but there are centuries that pass between Blights, at least historically, and there are only so many old Gods - what happens to the Wardens once they're all dead and aren't causing Blights? So if the First Warden wants the Grey Wardens to be the heroes of this crisis, that puts the Wardens and the Inquisition in direct opposition.
I kind of hope it has something to do with Corypheus.
They must have done something serious for us to be attacking them though. I recall Zevran saying that even the Antivan Crows don't generally attack the Wardens as killing a Warden is considered "impolite".
I wonder what kind of ramifications laying siege to a Warden fortress could have for the Inquisition, especially so soon after a Blight.
The Wardens have many secrets. They travel in areas that have been darkspawn territory for hundreds of years, and it is unlikely that they don't find anything of interest from the past.
So, my guess will either be Cory is involved or the Wardens have something the Inquisition desperately needs and refuse to cooperate.
Also, we've seen Wardens interpret their vows in different ways and groups can act independently, so maybe it is just a faction of Wardens under the command of someone or some people who sided with those responsible for the Breach.
I'm really not comfortable with fighting the Wardens. It's senseless.
I agree here's hoping its just a one off deal and we get them on our side.
I don't have much problem fighting Grey Wardens.. I didn't like them much in previous games nor books. If they want to fight I will give one to them ^^

They could be possessed. Remember demons are pouring out of fade rips in massive amounts.
At first, I actually thought it is related to the research of Avernus where the darkspawn taint of a Grey Warden has power that can be exploited. I thought the Wardens are being divided because some wanted it and others did not. But seeing the timeline of Hawke discovering Cory included in the main page makes more sense for me to assume that Cory is behind it.

It'll be cool to see Cory via the different personas of Janeka or Larius
Assuming we get that chance at all.
Would be interesting to have Blackwall in the party / inquisition at the same time.
I like wardens and would be gutted to attack them.

What I was thinking too. ![]()

Eh, I never found the Wardens particularly heroic. My first character was looking for a way out from start to finish.
