Eh, I never found the Wardens particularly heroic. My first character was looking for a way out from start to finish.
Same. But I don't necessarily want to attack them. A necessary evil, if you will.

The Wardens have always seemed to be a specific organization for a specific purpose to me, regardless of politics and factions and morality. If, say, the Inquisitor closing the tears may bring about several Blights or Old Gods or whatever, maybe the Wardens view the Inquisitor as an enemy to their organization's main goal(s). Weak example, but trying to illustrate there is just a myriad of repercussions and troubles that having or removing the tears/threat(s) might bring about. Or could just be Orlesian Wardens are militant about their fashion and don't like the green glowyhand because green glowyhands were was so last Age.
Its a good chance that it could be a splinter faction of the wardens that are more corrupt or ambitious or even under the control of Cory, another factor as whats been said already is the First Warden is seeking to use this event to claim more power which is understandable judging by how most leaders act in the DA universe, though i would bring in another important factor that involves the Inquisition and the seekers were already after the Hero of Fereldan/Commander of the Grey as they were after Hawke as we hear during the story telling Varric gives in DA2 its just possible they're being attacked cause they refuse to give up information about some of there greater members of the order to someone who formerly or currently works for the chantry, but that theory only works if they greatly attacked anders alot as he knew both main characters same with merril if dalish origin.
All in all i just hope its a matter involving different sects of the order as would give alot of use for wardens to fill as enemy, ally and just confusing.
Maybe the Grey Wardens, an organization associated with corruption and secrets, aren't as heroic as they seemed when we first played DAO and are up to something... And maybe that's why Blackwall, who seems to be an idealist, is with the Inquisition and not the Wardens...

It's been brought up.
Here's my(as far as I can tell, unique) position on it: if at all possible I will use whatever persuasion methods to avoid conflict with the wardens. If not possible, then I'm never going to finish the game because I'm going to let them win.
This sums up my thoughts very well. It'll be magnified if the Inquisitor is caught in a confrontation with the Warden/Hero of Ferelden. There's no way in my mind that the Inquisitor wins that in a fair fight. I fully expect one of those "JRPG you can't beat this character because he is a badass plot battles" if the Inquisitor and the Warden scrap.
This, a thousand times over. Let's face it, even if we do end up saving the world in this game, if we end up killing the Wardens in the process, then Thedas is completely screwed anyways because they'll be no one left to kill the Archdemon of the next Blight. Besides, turning the ostensible heroes into villains during a sequel rarely works out well; indeed, I've yet to experience an instance of Sudden Sequel Heel Syndrome (as TVTropes calls it) that didn't end up being some combination of insulting, contrived, mean-spirited or just plain dumb. Let's not pull a Cassandra Cain OYL here, okay, Bioware?

We are attacking an single fortress. There are wardens in every country. I'm sure it won't be the end of the order. Not to mention I had never seen the wardens as heroic. They often seemed opportunistic, shady and overly pragmatic. I certanly don't see them as deserving of such title.
On a meta level, I would enjoy fighting the Wardens in revenge for being conscripted and lied to in Origins. Bioware did hint that there might be a cameo from the Warden or Hawke, so maybe there will be an explanation there.
Blue Drake, where did you hear that? I heard from GamerMD's video where she interviewed Cameron it seemed like 1 of 2 things...
Either no chance it gets addressed or its going to be closer to end game maybe playing the game a specific way?
