This is more of an opinion, but I still want advise.
I'm considering playing Infiltrator, but I'm kinda iffy on how its going to play. Will it be mostly sniper stuff? Or could I just use regular guns, tech powers, and camo? If I'm not a huge sniper fan, is it worth being an Infiltrator?
I'm also considering Sentinal, however in the first game I heard it was easy to die as one, and that would get on my nerves.
Any advise?

infiltrator will be stealth based since they have tactical cloak but you can get close and personal with your smg if you want to. Sentinal seems to be one of the the toughest class because they have tech armor. Vanguard is most likely to die in ME 2.

Infiltrators can snipe but it isn't required. i can't imagine why you wouldn't want to, though, to be honest.

You can probably learn to use assault rifles and/or shotguns as an infiltrator, so there's definitely no need to focus solely on sniping.

Hmm. I might consider Sentinal then.
Because I will only use a sniper rifle if the situation arises, I don't use it for preference. So I'm starting to wonder if its worth being an infiltrator if i dont even like snipers.

I think if you're not interested in either the sniper or using camo then you might as well use a different class. That's like the infiltrators biggest draw. You could probably skate by using just camo, tech, and regular guns (if by that you mean the heavy pistol and the SMG), but if you have no interest in sniper rifles then you might as well just go Sentinal or Engineer. You said that you're nervous about the Sentinel, but you have no reason to be. It's been stated by the lead combat dev that you can play the Sentinel in a lot of ways, tank being one of them. After seeing Tech Armor, I believe it. So maybe you might want to go with that.

You might be right there, Mitch. I guess I've still got the ME1 image of the sentinal stuck in my mind.
Plus that allows me to pretty much bring any combo of squad members, which is a plus.

probably not, i don't think the bonus talent will include any weapon training tho because weapons does not have their own skill trees so it doesn't make a lot of sense to make a bonus talent that you woudn't be spending points on.

@ifanator
It has been confirmed that weapons training is IN, though not in the form of bonus talents.

tactical cloak can be applied to close up fighting, of course, but if you dont like sniping, seeing as yuo dont have to invest points into it anymore, it wont much matter. you can be a thane style close up assassing id imagine.

Every class can use heavy weapons, and every class can use all kinds of armor.
