If you're a mage when you face the "toll collectors," you can choose to say, "Do you really want to fight a mage?" instead of the Grey Warden line if you want. Then the really dense bandit freaks out because he's afraid you'll turn him into a toad. It's funny. ![]()

HA, what does she say if you have Sten with you??? (pick the lock and let him out without asking her for the key).
I'll head to Lothering today with my ROGUE (sorry mouse) elf and see what happens
I think the Rev. Mother will refuse to speak to you if you bring Sten into the chantry

It would be fun to be able to pickpocket her. Wonder what she'd be hiding? ![]()

The book "The Art of Passionate Love," about 200 rolls of blank vellum, and the thousands of sovereigns she's managed to guilt out of the populace. Just a guess.
LOL

Actually, I could probably use the vellum. Better than leaves and twigs. ![]()

But not better than fireball, if it's kindling you're referring to.

It's rough out on the open road. Hygenically speaking I would prefer vellum. Or even follow Tug's lead in Leliana's Song and keep silk handkerchiefs at the ready. ![]()

Sometimes it doesn't let you pick the lock but I don't remember when leliana can't pick Sten's cage lock.

Leliana needs a couple of levels in lock pick before you gain the option...Sometimes it doesn't let you pick the lock but I don't remember when leliana can't pick Sten's cage lock.

On the PC, the lock is of the 5 XP variety and can be opened by anyone with a lockpick score greater than zero. Leliana could open it on the strength of her +1 CUN amulet alone, even if she had only base CUN without the class bonus and no ranks in lockpicking.
If Leliana can't open the lock then there must be some trickery afoot...

I tried this lock pick thing and no dice. My DE has 2 lockpick levels. It says insufficient xp (?). Anyway, no Lolly joy either.

Hmm sounds like your CUN is low, but with two levels of lock pick it should be good enough. wierd

That is strange. I've done it multiple times on the PC and PS3 with two levels in lockpicking and just an average cunning score (whatever I needed to get the two levels in lockpicking). Bizarre.

What platform are you playing on? On the PC it is virtually impossible for a rogue not to be able to pick that lock. I had to remove Leliana's lockpick talents and reduce her Cunning score to 10 before I got the "Insufficient skill" message. Re-equipping the +1 CUN amulet resulted in an opened lock. Mods have been known to b0rken a thing or two, though...

I used to donate to her, but now I always go behind her back ad have Leliana unlock Sten's cage.

I personally don't get how she plans to feed the refugees when there are multiple references from nearly everyone that they are nearly out of food, room and clothes. The only one who has any food at all is the unscrupulous merchant who is cashing in on everyone's need. Once he's out, he's leaving.
It's not like she can pray money into grain, and the refugees keep coming. I half suspect she's also cashing in, but on people's spiritual needs instead of physical ones. Or she could be buying food from that one merchant, but he would be the only source of food for feeding the refugees at this point.
Which is why I also pick the cage.

I imagine the funds are going to go towards buying supplies once the refugees flee Lothering and head for Redcliffe/Denerim/other areas. Based on her dialogue, she's only taking tithes from those who actually look like they have coin to spare, so it'd be hard for her to take money for herself.
Doesn't stop her from guilt-tripping you if you don't donate, but such is life.

True. Maybe I just had a low opinion of her and projected a little based on that little guilt tripping.

So I went to the RM without Lolly and she had the attitude of well. . . as you're a Cousland you can mete out justice better than I. And so Sten comes with me. Haven't yet picked the lock on his cage. Gotta love this game.
I tried pickpocketing RM and she had nothing to steal.

Finally got Sten out without RM's key. Was she ever snippy with me. So much crap about not knowing what to do with him and leaving him to the Darkspawn or the Maker (either being death I guess) and yet hating the fact he is free and maybe that could be construed as the Maker's will. Not only that, but Lolly disappoints with saying how terrible and not ever a murderer deserves such a fate - which has been decided by her beloved RM.

Well, Leliana is more of the chaotic good type anyway, and is trying to atone for being a murderer herself, which is why she approves of sparing Zevran.
