I usually try to convince the RM that the Wardens need all the help they can get to battle the Blight; if I fail to persuade her, I threaten her. The Wardens do what they must to quell the Blight -and no RM is going to stand in my way. Sadly Alistair starts apologising like mad; apparently the RM is willing to listen to the reasoning of Mr. I-don't-wish-to-decide-anything.

And as a Cousland Rogue, my Cunning allows my persuade attempt (My father was Bryce Cousland...) to succeed.

What I do not like is when I decide to give her 5 Sovereigns and she is still unwilling to release Sten. Most of my playthroughs I'm pretty much in-line with Morrigan's view of the Maker and the Chantry.

I hated how there was no "I don't want to give to the chantry, because I do not agree with the chantry's views or actions." option when she asks for tithe. It's impossible for me to play a character that is sympathetic to a religious institution that is clearly being deceptive; this is likely because of IRL bias.

"Tithe? To the chantry? Are you joking?"

That's one of the options.

Yes. And it makes me sound like an *******. Then I have to hear her morally slam me by saying how it would be used to help feed and cloth the needy; at least give me an option to tell her I have no way of knowing that's where all the money will go.

Quick question? Where would she and the chantry buy food for refugees? Lothering as a village is pretty much out except for that one merchant who is overpricing it, and once he's out, there's no more left.

Oh, that makes me think even more awful things about the RM. The fact that there is hardly any food to buy could suggest that she is pocketing the gold. Elder Miriam is doing more for the people than the RM is.

Personally, I usually play characters who don't want anything to do with the Chantry (as I grew up in a highly religious environment, and now that I have escaped, I tend to balk when any form of religion is forced down my throat). I would rather have the option to give money to individual people in need or at least Elder Miriam, instead of giving it to the RM and the Chantry, who I don't trust any farther than I can throw them.

This is why, now that I know I can, let Sten out of the cage. I like to take him to the chantry.

There's no dialogue change at all from what you get if you bring him back after she gave you the key.  The dialogue change is with Sten.  Sten's pretty suspicious of you and doesn't like treachery much.  There isn't any approval change, since he's not part of your party, but something new to talk about.
