I hear what marksmad is saying. As I'm one that started with the NES and then SNES & Sega Genesis during what I still consider the golden age of gaming and gaming from that age of consoles I just mentioned I still do to this very day. As they are still my fave consoles and those games never age to me. Ever. My brother is keeping track of all the Nintendo consoles now, and we too have a Wii and Wii U. As we still look forward to out childhood games getting updated, as well as some of the newer ips that are good. Plus Nintendo as a company shouldn't ever be forgotten and left to become totally obsolete.

But what megabeast first said here is true. Me and my brother are very upset that Nintendo is totally ignoring it's older fanbase that made them very big originally and making games way, way too kiddie. Especially when there is a way to make it so that it pleases both.

Yeah I also grew up with Atari, NES, SNES, a Genesis, Dreamcast, NEO-GEO, old school PlayStation/Xbox (am 34 now). I personally just feel Nintendo is going to put themselves out of business with their proprietary format BS, aversion to violence (anyone remember the Mortal Kombat blood being grey sweat along with fatalities changing?) and their unrelenting insistence to just make kiddie games. Guess what.. kids like CoD and Halo now, not Mario and Donkey Kong. There are far more parents who buy their kids what they want instead of sheltering them from adult gaming by purchasing a Wii.

This photo is a fake.  I saw it on the cover of the tabloids last week.  This is the biggest fraud since the "discovery" of batboy.  So disappointing.

Nintendo isn't exactly gasping for cash, it's a company with a narrow gaming focus that has a market cap almost exactly the same size as Sony - all of Sony. As for the idea that WiiU is only for Mario and Zelda, well, a quick check on Amazon will dispel that impression.

I guess I'm lucky and over-privileged, since I can afford to have all the games and games platforms I want and enjoy. Maybe that distorts my perspective.

The fact remains that ME3 is a lot of fun on the WiiU, just as it is on other platforms.

Hmm. No sign of WiiU on the picture, blurry names, and no time. But we can see it's on Silver.

This was definitely an Xbox duo of 2 BSN elitists.

True.  This was just always a running joke here since the WiiU players were so few.

The crazy thing is I seem to remember seeing the WiiU sales figures for ME3 being in the 6 figure range.  At least a decent portion of 100,000+ had to play MP right?

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that Nintendo reported a net loss last year or the year before.. so that would seem like they are in fact, grasping for cash. ...and please, tell me about all these awesome triple-A games that I'm missing out on by not owning a WiiU or a 3DS.

The saddest part about the Wii (which I own one of) is that the best game that was ever released for it came with the system.. Wii Sports. It's a great idea.. but I don't feel the technology was ever maximized by developers.. and ultimately, the best system isn't the one with the best CPU/graphics.. it's the one with the best list of games. This is why Nintendo is currently a fail.. no great games. When was the last time you saw a commercial for a Nintendo game and said "I HAVE to have that!" I can't even remember one.. maybe Donkey Kong for the SNES.

I think you are correct.  I remember there being a good deal of sales reported.  I've just never seen anyone post here that owned a WiiU and played ME3 on it.

Maybe their mom won't let them.

There you go Mark.. read that and tell me Nintendo is doing just fine. They're heading down the same road as Sega, Atari and Neo-Geo. Soon.. Mario and Zelda will be on XboxOne and PS4, and they'll probably be better games for it. The article does say they have a huge cash reserve from previous successes.. but it won't last if they doing R&D on duds and keep releasing them.

According to reports, Nintendo has enough cash on hand to run at a deficit for 30+ years.  That's most likely part of the issue - there's no real burning need to switch your business model because you can absorb the losses if it fails.

I've got a Wii U, mainly because I have kids and I also am a huge Zelda fan.  It's not a bad system by any means, it's just not living up to it's potential.

It can't be easy to develop games for a Nintendo system compared to Sony, Xbox and PC. If it's not going to be quite profitable, studios will shy away and produce other sure things. A system is nothing but a useless piece of plastic without stellar developer support.

Nintendo should just cut the crap and give me an Okami sequel for the Wii U.
