I'm a PC gamer as well...don't really feel special since game devs tend to treat us like ****.
We get games late and horribly optimized, despite the dev "saying" they did work hard on their pc port.
Master race?
Iron Bullshit.

The aristocracy of France said much the same thing in 1789. Not sure how that turned out.
I hear there is a game coming out about that, finally we can all find out!
jesus christ bsn
As much as I miss the gun-holstering, that is a petty reason to not like the game.
People really need to get over clipping...
The completely static NPCs in the town still bother the hell out of me.
Yep this is the one thing that bothers me a little bit too. Not much, mind - Bioware has never done amazingly lifelike and bustling cities/towns in all its many games. But I would love to see them do a lively, thriving metropolis with tons going on. I imagine that party pathfinding might be a fairly major issue in such a scenario, though?
It was jarring--I think the upgraded visuals that Frostbite gives made the static npc's stand out more than the old Eclipse engine did.
At some point in the dragon fight Iron Bull kept running against the dragon's leg with his weapon out but without doing anything else. I think it was in the dwarf demo.
I dont think we can make any assumptions until the full game is played. Not a demo of an alpha
This is troubling, especially with the recent Watch Dogs Controversy. As the first true Next Gen came to release, its been exposed that the game released was missing so many things, not the least of which is Graphics Fidelity from its E3 2013 Presentation, let along other features that did not make it to release.
Yes, different company I know, but it is a troubling precedent, and something to be on guard for.

Is it fair to ask devs to optimize a game to console level across two CPU manufacturers and two GPU manufacturers, each with multiple generations of hardware, and have it be able to run well on every single possible configuration out there?
You still have the ability to tweak your graphics settings to your heart's content, the potential for the game to look better than consoles, and you have steam sales to get the games on price cut much sooner than consoles.
Late releases are BS, but comparatively small BS that I don't think is worth expending energy over. (Looking at all the slagging for timed exclusivity)

Except it wasn't the first true Next Gen game because it was also released on the old gen. Also having played the game on PS4 I saw now differences between the E3 2013 demo and what I saw in game. The only troubling precedent is people worrying over demos/trailers and seeing things (or not seeing things) that are different to other footage.
As for the DAI E3 demo and companions vanishing unless in combat. Funny then how part way through a conversation between Sera and Iron Bull could be heard whilst the group was running through Redcliffe Village. ![]()
After the Watch Dogs debacle, people's expections should be curbed especially on the console side. It won't look as good as it has in the trailers on console, folks should accept that now. I'm the sort of gamer where it doesn't really bother me, a great story and gameplay experience trumps anything for me. If it does happen to look pretty then that's a bonus, if not, you're not let down, it's win win. I feel the trend of publishers and developers overly showcasing the graphical fidelity can do more harm than good, a false precedant can be set that they later can't live up to only to face the ire of everyone who took their word for it originally. As far as DAI goes it's a cross gen development so it's inherently held back in certain respects, I just hope when it does release we don't see scores of people complaining that it doesn't look as good as when the trailers were shown.
As long as concole gaming is not dead we will always have to deal with limitations... starting by making DLCs available earlier and exclusive games... because they could not sell as many consoles without promising sh*t... moneygrabbers.
This game is held back by last gen, but I still hold out hope it will be amazing. after seeing the stuff at E3 I am amped. Hopefully the next mass effect is completely current gen

The reason console games are sixty dollars is because they have to pay ten bucks to Sony or Microsoft.
Nowadays, most PC games are starting to be 60 bucks too, and the developers just pocket the extra dough. Keep in mind that about 17 dollars out of a 60 dollar console game is profit, so that's a fair amount of increase.
So yes, it's fair. Incredibly fair.
If your buying PC games day one full price your not doing it right. Its not hard to find Day one PC games for $15.00 less.

Not going to worry much till it hits beta stages. and even then..
What we saw was on the PC as well. Not any console. It's alpha though. A lot of work left to do.
Really? Having less information would make you happier?
I want all the information. I loved how DAO's development went, where the game was announced years before there was anything real to show us. We learned of characters who later got cut. We learned of a playable race that later got cut. Lots off things get cut, but we learn more about the game's intended direction by seeing more of the development process, not less.
DAO's development is the standard of transparency against which I measure other games.
There was some party banter, so I don't think the party just vanishes when you're wandering around.
Now that you mention it, I have been noticing small details with technical aspects of the game. A lot of bugs/glitches. It would not surprise me to see the game get delayed again. Bioware isn't really known for the most polished games at launch anyway. Nothing I can remember that was so bad it broke the game but they always have quite a few bugs in their games.
If the worst I have to worry about is a dragon clipping or companions disappearing when you mount up...I think I'll be okay with that.
Perhaps we should wait until they finish the game in four months to pass judgement.
It looks a lot better than DA:O, a game that I loved. It also looks better than DA2.
Count me among those who aren't too concerned, though with RPGs I tend to prioritize graphics and such a lot lower than story and characters.
I can more easily tell if they've made the right choices if they are transparent. Reviews not done by me are not relevant to me. The demo highlights aspects of the game they think people will like - not the game overall, and possibly not the parts that will determine my enjoyment.I far prefer the days when the first time I heard about a game was when it was on the shelves. The magazines had reviewed the full game and it was out, I could test the demo in the store if I was still unsure. None of this preorder nonsense.
Since I'm not a stakeholder in EA, I really have no interest in their process or transparency. I only care that they deliver a good game and trust them to make the right choices. I stop buying their games when they start making the wrong choices (case in point DA2).
Every single game ever released had technical limitations.
